  1. The beauty of this thread is that unlike in many/most other years we are talking Scott Eagle football. That's good to see. We need more schools that can garner conversation.

Yes..It is a Big Change from the past, I agree !! Some are not ready for the change !! These kids want to win and have taste for winning !! Good luck Eagles on a successful season !! I believe in these group of boys !! You can do whatever you set your mind too !!

  2. This could be an interesting year in 2A. The number of good teams is really impressive. I think that NCC, Lloyd, and HC will all be very solid this year. The Louisville teams are always good. Throw in some of the 2A teams in the Western part of the state, this is a very good class of teams

I agree !! Lloyd should be good as well. This could be an interesting season in 2A !!

  3. They are not allowed to do anything with the HS per KHSAA rules.

They should look into adjusting some of these rules in the future. The sport is getting more and more competitive at such an earlier age . At this point they should be able to do something year round . But rules are rules.

  4. No contact with players except for spring practice. I know it was a rule because we got penalized for it because we were holding "Conditioning sessions" before spring break. This is what brought the spring practice rule (and what contact you can have with players during offseason) into play because we had been doing it for years and having an intrasquad spring game. Some teams didnt like that we were doing it, but at that time nothing about the offseason was in the rules. It was added the next year, no contact except for 8 practices in the spring, not sure what it is now.

What about working out with the upper class or tieing in some workouts with the high school that they feed to ?

  5. Yes it does. some kids mature fast. Their big in the 8th grade and fast. What happens when everyone else grows up too!! Seen it in basketball more than football. The 6'1 8th grade center. Who as a senior is still 6'1 and now sitting the bench. That 5'11 canter who sat the bench in MS is now a 6'5 senior and starting.

    Good point !!

  6. In fact my son went to TF. They had a very good 8th grade team. I think they won the large school that year. At a pep rally the coach told the kids that didn't play for TF. They would have a hard time getting playing time with that class in HS. He was wrong. The two kids that got D1 schorlships didn't play for TF in that class.

Its always good when you can mold good talent from multiple upbringing at times . keeps the competition between team mates to earn spots and not be so tunnel visioned.

  7. Witnessed a very good camp at Mason HS in Northern Cincy this evening hosted by Ohio University. Appeared as if OUs entire staff was there and am pleased to report a high level of teaching. The Bobcats get it and are to be commended on putting on a good camp. Saw a lot one-on-one and small group teaching!

Other schools in attendance were: Indiana St, Dayton, Ohio Dominican, Hillsdale, Centre, Hanover, Denison, Lyndsey Wilson, and a few more more I know I am missing. Feel free to add for those others in attendance.

NKY was well represented and performed well from what I could see! Keep up the good work...

It is nice to see a lot of talent in nky this graduating class of 2016.

  8. Everyone should do their homework before attending a particular camp. 1st call the camp director and ask how many campers have they had in the past and how many they are expecting this year. Are there other schools invited to the camp and if so...who? And of big importance, ask if Junior College athletes are invited to attend as well. This is exactly what UC did this year as they opened up their registration to JC players as well (you can do the math here).

Good luck to all but do your homework before making your investment.

    Great advice !!

  9. I think they'll beat Scott and Conner, be a toss up with Campbell and Beechwood and underdogs to Cooper and Belfry. The problem with the small schools playing the much bigger schools is the depth on the line. NCC will have too many lineman playing both ways and it makes it tough late in the game.

I think it's a good non-conference schedule mixed with challenging matchups and not necessarily as overwhelming as in recent years.

I wouldn't completely rule out Conner this year . They have capabilities to hang in some games . They didn't lose to much talent last year .

  10. Scott is doing some really nice things and they are starting to really draw/keep kids in the program. That being said, they won't be much of a test for SK. Scott's defense will not stop SK

Scott somewhat is keeping talent . Sk is too big with talent and numbers feeding in . Had an opportunity to spend sometime yesterday with a few SK followers yesterday at the swim club. They push winning and have the kids and community drinking the Blue Koolaide for sure !! They have come along way from the past !! Wish them the best of success this season !! If they stay healthy.... They will be contenders in November !!
