Last year St X lost to Male twice, by 4 points and by 2 points (average of 3 points). So the question is can St X find those 4 points needed to defeat Male this year. Though some are calling this an insurmountable point spread differential to overcome, I will argue that it can be done. First point - I believe that everyone can now admit that St X has improved from last year. By the 4 points needed to defeat Male? absolutely! Have they improved by 7 points? most Certainly. Have they improved by 14 points? trinity would say they have. Second point - Has Male improved from last year? Hard to say due to their soft schedule. 17 point victory over Meade County has to be disconcerting to the Male faithful, but this could be due to looking ahead to the St X game (certainly understandable). Until they lose you have to continue to keep Male favored to win state 6A. Third point - supposed to be wet this Friday night. This should help the underdog team, but obviously no guarantees. The wild card with rainy weather is of course turnovers and this could go to either team, its all about how the ball bounces. So.......... Looking at what Male accomplished last year and what they have returned this year you have to like Male's chances. Looking at what St X has accomplished this year you have to like St X's chances. Much like the two games last year it should be a close affair. Going off of this years improvement I will go with St X pulling it out in the fourth quarter in a close one.

East Raider great point. But not always true Both T and X historically, sit on more talented players if they are not Seniors. Having said that Trinity started a Sophomore QB who was not ready - Young is head and shoulders better - no pun intended

Good call by Coach Woolford in not playing Blake Roshkowski and Max Willenger in the JV game save them for the Varsity victory Looks like St Xavier is in good shape for the next couple of years against Trinity. CSAA players gravitating to St Xavier seems to be paying dividends

Manual is the least talented team now that they have lost Nero Until Male loses they are number 1 Trinity isn't going anywhere - the sky is not falling.

Best pre game prediction - Riverside157 - said game would be decided in first quarter - great call!! Honorable mention for best prediction - Many of you said these teams are not evenly matched. I said they were. I was wrong you were right. Good call Best in your face prediction from my friends - All of the Trinity fans I know ( that attend most Trinity games ) correctly predicted a St X win. They were worried about the St X defense and concerned about the Trinity offense. Impressed with their knowledge. I thought the teams were evenly matched going into the game and that turnovers would be key factor. With Trinity losing the turnover margin 3 to 1 this was a big factor. Obviously St Xavier's schedule of Simon Kenton, Bryan Station, Bowling Green, Moeller and Central has prepared them well for district play. I could not believe how one sided the coaching was in this game. Woolford and his staff completely dominated Beatty and his staff. Talking about being taken out to the woodshed. After taking the splinters out of his backside from the paddling Woolford administered to him, Beatty will get back to work and get Trinity moving in the right direction. Looking ahead, both teams still should have their best games in front of them. Though last nights game says otherwise, I still believe that these two teams are pretty evenly matched and if that turnover margin swings to Trinity in their playoff game rematch then the result will be much closer. Both teams need to stay healthy, especially at the quarterback position where both have dramatic production drop-offs from their starter to their backup(s). Hopefully both teams go undefeated the rest of the season and have a great future playoff rematch. With of course great weather.

St Xavier was missing three Sophomores who would have significantly impacted the game. Desmond Ridder starting QB for JV did not play - injured Blake Roshkowski WR - did not play, will be playing Friday night. His punt/kick returns were missed. Would have been best ST X receiver on the field had he played Max Willenger DE - would have been best DE on the field had he played - will play this Friday night Interested to know if Trinity had any impact Sophomores who did not play

There have been several incredible backs from KY. In no order Paul Hornung - everybody wanted him - Heisman trophy winner - Super bowl rings - all pro - etc. tough to argue against Sonny Collins - Everybody wanted him. - huge pick up when he signed with UK. - Due to injuries I believe maybe only played 3 years at UK - left UK as SECs all time leading rusher - also hard to argue against that Al Baker from Trigg county - If they had 5 stars back then he would have been - everybody wanted him - Believe there was an article about him in Wall Street Journal while he was in high school - injured early and wasn't able to show what he could do Kid in early to mid seventies from I think Danville - Injured in a construction accident after freshman year - never played ball again - everybody wanted him George Adams - easily the most physically gifted - 6'2" or so, 230 lbs - was fast, powerful - everybody wanted him - my brother knew him - sadly he was so gifted he never had to work at it - went through high school, college and probably pro's just by showing up - that is amazing achievement , but didn't allow him to show what he could do

Trinity on a four year run against St X has to be favored. Both teams have stellar defenses, both have questions on offense that can lead to scoring draughts. If Young has to leave the game and Trinity forced to go to a backup QB, then it could get ugly. If the ST X offense cannot sustain drives and leaves the ST X defense on the field too long, then like wise it could get ugly for ST X. When you have two evenly matched teams such as these it's usually decided by turnovers, and turnovers are difficult to predict. Hope everyone stays healthy and we are entertained with a great game.
