Trinity (4-3) travels to duPont Manual Stadium to face the duPont Manual Crimsons (6-0) this Friday evening. The kickoff is set for 7:30PM. The Rocks fell to St. Xavier (5-2) 35-21 this past Friday. The Crimsons defeated the Butler Bears (3-2) 35-0 in Shively, KY last Thursday evening.

 

The Crimsons offense, which is averaging nearly 34 points per game, is led by QB Tim Comstock. The rushing attack is led by Trae Gordon, Andre Teague, and Reece West. Jalen Carter and William Blackford anchor the receiving corps. The duPont Manual defense has allowed only 21 points this season (less than 4 points per game). Jordan Gonzalez, Derek Dorsey, Chris Dyer, Collin Bolden, Sean Cleasant, and Anthony Kyser are among the standouts for the Crimsons defense. Trinity is facing a duPont Manual squad that has previously defeated Central (3-3) 41-7, Fern Creek (3-2) 19-7, PRP (3-3) 43-0, and Ballard (3-3) 13-7 in addition to their victory over Butler.

 

To avoid traveling out of town the first weekend of the playoffs, the Rocks will have to regroup quickly. Trinity wants to maintain hopes of hosting a playoff contest this season, they will have to avoid a second district loss. The Rocks will need the Tigers to lose to Male and duPont Manual to have a shot at the number one seed. This is the final year of the “Super District”. The first round of the playoffs in 2014 has the 4th District pitted against the 1st District. This district includes McCracken County (5-1), Marshall County (2-4), Daviess County (2-4), and Henderson County (2-4). None of these locations are appealing to Jefferson County opponents in November.

 

Trinity is 26-9 versus the Crimsons all-time, a 74.3 winning percentage.The Shamrocks have defeated duPont Manual 10 consecutive times dating to 2003. The series began in 1959.

 

Trinity tidbits: The Rocks have scored in 226 consecutive games.

The JV Rocks host the Bluebirds of Highlands High School on Monday afternoon.

 

The LaSalle Lancers (6-0) soundly defeated Cincinnati’s Archbishop Moeller (5-1) 34-9 . The Crusaders were the only team on Trinity’s 2014 schedule that failed to notch a win this past weekend.
