Happy will love Mcfarland, the kid can play. Consistency on his jump shot is his only weakness but he can get it to the rim and score and plays tough D and a high basketball IQ He is a winner:thumb:

Jackson is a very talented player and has all the physical tools you want in a basketball player, but all Faulkner does is win. He had an amazing 6 game winning shots this summer including a buzzer beater against arguably the best team in country, Grassroots Canada. He went head to head against a lot of top rated players this summer, and while those players will end up playing at a higher level due to their body type, the result was usually the same, Faulkner just won What else can you ask for?:thumb:

I'm pretty sure I saw them in addidas take 5, but nothing after that? Not sure, but I know they weren't in any other tournaments we were in I agree , the Holmes boys are players

I think their names have been repeated over and over again (and for good reason) but the important point of all this travel and playing, is that this team will generate in excess of a half million dollars in scholarship money and that is no small accomplishment! The parents invested several thousand dollars to make it happen, but that is a great return:thumb: And the kids made some lifetime friends They will all be "locked and loaded" when the season starts having seen way more talent than the state of Kentucky alone can throw at them

The Ds 16's were in about the same boat tonight as the 17's as they also lost to the Bay Area Hoosiers. They are also a talented bunch of kids

A tired Ds team wound up a great season with a loss to a talented New York Panther team. With Evan Faulkner back on the disabled list, The New York team came out smoking hot and hit 12-14 3's in the first half and the DS boys just didn't have enough gas left in the tank to respond like they normally do. Knowing that win or lose, it didn't matter due to plane reservations probally didn't help, but this was a very good team we played tonight that will probally go much deeper in the tournament. Ethan Faulkner had his high game of they year with 25 but the DS team even had a hard time shooting from the free throw line. This will be the last update on our July schedule, as the Ds team finishes up their season at 39-14. Watch out for these players this year as they will be be making a lot of noise across the state. They would make a great core group to represent Kentucky in the Kentucky -Indiana all star game. They just find a way to win! New York Panters are the program Derek Character and Lamar Odom played for. I think game will be streamed live on maxxathlete.com, you have to sign up for free registration and then click on Grass Roots Tv. The 16u team will be on the court next to us and I think will also be streaming. Ds 17u is now 5-0 now in California and 39-13 overall. Due to plane reservations, this will probally be our last game.:cry: I'm going to miss this bunch!:thumb:

A short handed DS team wen toe to toe with the Ohio Basketball Club today. With Evan Faulkner starting the game on the "disabled list", the OBC club was determined to wear Ethan Faulkner out, midway through the 2nd half they gave that idea up as Ethan and his teammates consistently broke the press down. OBC athleticism caused some problems, but DS led for most of the game and the two points at the end was as close as OBC got in the second half. Evan Faulkner got tired of seeing his brother "picked on" and asked to go in towards the end of the game and promptly hit a big three. Andy Donovan and Richie Phares also hit some big shots down the stretch. Ethan Faulkner has established himself hands down as the "toughest point guard " in Kentucky. The kid just wins:thumb: I have never had any other team with the ability to pull out the close ones like this DS team:thumb:

Clark County boys are battling injuries Robbie Stenzel here but out Corey Rogers was playing well but tweaked his ankle Travis Purvis is playing well and had ten points last game Clark County boys are representing well both on and off the court, just need to get over the "injury bug". Clark County is going to be very proud of them before their careers are over. Josh Whitaker also out with knee as the 16u team is losing close games with 6 players but they are still competing :thumb: Cody Miller and Clint Stepp are also playing well for 16u team

DS all stars win their pool as Richie Phares goes off with 14 points in the first half to lead DS. Andy Donovan followed with 15 points as DS played the game with 7 players. Evan Faulkner sat out with a hip pointer but DS still wins their pool and moves on to tournament play tonight at 7.30. Trip is "getting long" but DS is still competing. 16u team plays tonight at same time.

The cardiac kids strike again as they overcome a ten point defict inside ten minutes to beat a good team from Sacramento area. Ethan Faulkner sparked the defense and made some big shots and Richie Phares hit two big free throws with 4 secs left in double o/t to put the ds all stars over the top. Leonard Macon and Andy Donovan were also in double figures as the Ds all stars once again figure out how to win the close ones.

Ds wins a fairly ugly game over a pretty good IEBP team. Ethan Faulkner leads in scoring with 14 followed by Jon Bevins with 10. Next game tomorrow at 11.30 pst

Grass Roots Canada was the overall champion of the Addidas Super 64 in Las Vegas yesterday beating Derek Favors and the Atlantic Celtics in the final. Grass Roots only loss in the tournament was to the Derek Smith All Stars from Kentucky.:thumb:

Play IEBP Sunday at 1.30 at Loyola Marymount. Don't know what to expect at this time of the year. Last tournament of the season, some teams are road weary and ready to quit. Will be interesting to see how our kids respond

I will applaud the Morgan County program, as they are a class act, but thats not to say they have not always "attempted" to win a region title with non-home grown kid. Although I'm still not sure the definition of "home-grown"? Is that born in America? In the local system since Kindergarten? In since 9th grade or what? Definitions of "home grown" can vary.

As an example of the level of competition the DS team is facing out there, the Grass Roots Canada team is in the Semi-finals tomorrow, after beating Team Philly in the quarter-finals. Team Philly beat Indiana Elite to get there. Team Philly was beaten at Morgantown Jamfest by the DS team. The Las Vegas Prospects are also in the semi-finals and they beat the DS team in Cincy it takes five by 2. Hard to compare scores, but it gives you some idea of how well this DS team has been representing the state and the strength of their schedule. Somebody quoted Pittino as being "surprised" that a Kentucky team could beat the Canadians. ! These boys have "represented":thumb:

DS ends their Las Vegas run with a tough loss to a good Minnesota team. Leonard Macon was from another planet tonight as he had 31 points with 17 free throws. Just didn't get enough help. Ferg was missed tonight Next stop Los Angeles for the Best of Summer tournament.

Evan has a firm d-1 offer on table, Ethan and Ferg are getting very serious d-1 conversation. I would say two game winners on this stage will really increase Ethan's stock, the kid just wins. One coach described Ferg as the best shooter he has seen this summer. May come down to how far they want to go away from home and their fan base. Still way too early for the offers to come in. September will tell the tale

In anotherer Thriller in Vegas, DS sneaks by the St Louis Gateway in a nailbiter. DS was up by 12 . Went cold, got down about 6 and trailed the last 6 minutes until the Franklin County boys hit some big shots. Andy Donovan hit a big 3 to get us close, then Barrett Meyer hit a deep three at the buzzer to send it into overtime as the St Louis team was trying to foul us. In overtime, Leonard Macon hit some big free throws and once again, Mr. Clutch Ethan Faulkner hits a game winner at the end of overtime to win it for the DS team. Look for story on Ethan in tomorrows Courier Journal. In an interesting matchup, Scott County's Richie Phares and Andy Donovan did a great job against Tyler Griffey , who was offered early by Kentucky and committed to Illinois. They held Griffey to 14 points but he worked hard on every one of them and Richie answered most of them. Tournament play starts tomorrow for DS at 3.40 Stay tuned over and out from Vegas

Tough Loss today as the shots just weren't falling enough to overcome a pretty good Oaklahoma team that made it to the elite 8 in the Kingwood Classic. Both Faulkners and Leonard Macon had double figures for DS but it usually takes 5 DS players in double figures to beat a good team. Next up , St Louis Gateway who has a Griffey kid that has already signed with Illinois and was one of two high school players chosen for a US international team this summer.

DS 16's got beat by a team from Texas. Ferg is fine, but was unable to make the trip due to obligations at home. He will be missed. He was playing the best ball of his life in Morgantown!
