  1. It depends which umpire you get, because they all call it differently.
  2. Maybe that could be the case. Did you bother to read the post I was replying to?
  3. Doty, Finfrock, Rust, Gosney and Schwalbach. There may be more, but these are the ones I have heard.
  4. Maybe because he only pitched 41 innings genius. The kid posts a 1.02 ERA with over a 10-1 K to BB ratio and your acting like that isn't impressive. Come on pal. All of this after your original argument for him being beatable is that Bishop Brossart took him 9 innings yet didn't score a run off of him. That's pretty sound logic.
  5. Exactly, that's why I said I wasn't implying he wasn't a good coach. I was just making the point that regardless of the size of the school they still have had very talented players come through the program. Relax guy! The most talented team don't always win and many times it has nothing to do with the coaching.
  6. I was talking about comparing the talent on NCCs team to the talent on other schools in the area? Do you think there are any basketball factories around here churning out DI & DII talent every year?
  7. The intent of my post is not to imply that Grant is a bad coach, but I'm not buying the small school excuse on this one. Compare the talent NCC has had over the past few years and it exceeds that of the large majority of the bigger schools in the region.
  8. Aren't any teams using their football fields? Seems to me like that would be a great way to get a look at a kids fielding ability.
  9. Try the Newport Elks Lodge on US 27 in Alexandria.
  10. OK, I will humor you guys. Regardless of if he was in the dugout or at 1st base, I find it hard to believe that he had absolutely no say over when they were bunting. I saw pretty many MLB and college games last season and not too many of their head coaches were in the third base box, but rest assured they were the ones calling the shots the majority of the time. And that really wasn't the point of my post. I was trying to state that HB was more aware of when small ball should be used, not the actual coach who called for it (whoever that was). It was actually a compliment.
  11. Yeah, I kind of understood that also. I was just trying to compliment him. I think what his post was saying is that he knows the right time and wrong time for small ball, but the Cooper coaches don't.
  12. Maybe you should stand along the 3rd base fence, right next to the coaches box and let Coach Bieger know when he should play small ball and when he should hit. You seem to have it all figured out.
  13. Let's say that you get a Freshman that has 0 baseball talent, but decides to come out for the team. Can hardly even catch a baseball. Do you cut a marginal Soph to keep this kid who you know know will defenitely be cut the next year or the marginal kid who you know has a better chance of helping out your program in the future? Keeping the best baseball players regardless of age is the best for any program.
  14. Won't the aces be pitching in the district seed games also?
