All I know is that in NKY I would take Greis at 1st base over anyone!!! She just keeps hitting (not BGH pencils hits because I saw every game last year)and driving in runs and never misses a ball at 1st (0 fielding errors in 35 games). Also she saved a ton of errors last year by scooping bad threws from a very young left side of the infield. You can say what you want about BHG but don't take away from a young lady that any coach would love to have on his team because of what she does on the field, at the plate, and in the dugout with the younger players. She has been a 2 year captain in softball, soccer and basketball while playing on some very good teams. Don't discount what she has done because you don't like the BGH or the way he reports. she earned EVERYTHING she has gotten!!!

Just checked website for 2012 Greis stats 514 avg. 57H, 11doubles, 39R, 45 RBI Though it was better than stated by Lawnboy

Great offensive stats but also remember Maria Greis did not have a fielding error last year! Only 3 throwing errors trying to throw out runners at home and 1 at 3rd. Also ended 3 games last year in the last inning with winning runs in scoring position by making a great glove play. She does "get it done". Kristen Stanly at HC is also up at the top from what I saw.

NCC, HHS, Conner, Beechwood, ect...and I know some schools have good and bad years but CCHS has IMO under preformed for as long as I can remember. They have had some good years and some good teams but year in and year out they have not gotten what they should have out of the athletes in their building! There have been many reasons given by many people including CCHS supporters but none change the fact that they do not win as many games as they should. When a 5A or 6A school is getting beat by some of the teams that CCHS has gotten beat by over the last say 25 years, it is a below average program, again IMO. By the way the field is incredible. I hope they can live up to their new Palace.

For a below average football program that looks like it MIGHT be headed in the right direction, but I have heard that for 35 years.

Newport has improved and did have some girls that can shoot. also played pretty good defense. Brossart was very flat which lead to the starters getting benched.

Starters got benched to start the second half. did not play well in 1st half.

The difference is some schools do it correctly and don't more girls down or in some cases up to take playing time from someone who has been there all year. if our team would have done this 3 or 4 girls would have not gotten to play much and the girls that moved down would then go and play the JV game the next night while the other freshman sat home. If they would have done that we win by 15-20 but lose girls for next year that will not come back after getting treated that way. Not the kind of program I want my kid in. I am proud of our school for as far as I know has never done this while my kids have gone there (8 years). Now to take it to the next step my oldest lost a ton of playing time to an 8th grader when he was a freshman but that player was there all year and earned his spot. I had no problem with that even though that 8th grader did not even go to that school yet (that I was paying tuition to and the 8th grade was not). but he was there ALL YEAR not moved to get a "win". I also think in some cases we are moving freshman up that would be better served play 3/4 freshman game to work on their skills. It would be better for the program to have a girl play 3/4 of the freshman game and maybe 1/2 the JV game to get better than just play 1/2 JV and sit on the Varsity bench to watch IMO. I would have no problem with a child losing playing time on the freshman team in this scenario but not just move down at the end of the year only to try and win a thophy.

RCC9, when I started this I mentioned that I have seen this in other sports for years. I know your softball team at HHS sometimes has low numbers. How will you handle this? IMO as a coach, girls that have been on freshman team all year and never moved up should play, period. If you need to fill in so be it but never take time away from a girl that has earned time all year by playing and practicing for the freshman coach. I think anyone "trophy hunting" is way off base with what a freshman team is about. I have also seen teams with small numbers that would never do this and my hat goes off to those program that do it Right. They take their lose with the girls they played with all year and thats what they should do.

Brossart freshman may also have something to say as well.

I saw something last night that I have seen for years that I think is just wrong but it goes on all the time. In the freshman tournament 4 girls that did not play during the season 2 weeks ago on the freshman team show up to the tournament and play most of the game. We beat them 2 weeks ago without these player but got beat last night with the JV players on the floor. They also had 4 girls that never saw the floor and 3 girls that played most of the 1st game played very little. If I were a parent and a coach put my daughter on the bench so a JV player could play so we could win and she never saw the floor I would be highly upset. We have 5 very good freshman that could have done this very thing and the game would not have even been close but they have played JV/Varsity all year so they were not brought down. If that would have happened my daughter would have played very little but since our staff chooses not to she played about half the game in the lose. I have seen it in other sports as well. I know at some schools the numbers make this necessary but this was not the case. What do others think of this practice and have others seen this as well????????

I think their coach is very good. He has them ready to play with a very good game plan every time I hav seen them play. He also adjust well as the game progresses. He should be coach of the year in that region IMO.

Yes they did, however it was not run by touchstone like it will be next year. They do a great job running these statewide touraments and anyone who has had the opportunity to play knows that. I know all my kids enjoyed playing in all of them. I have been to girls basketball, baseball, volleyball, soccer, and softball with my kids and they have all been wonderful. Thanks to everyone involved with putting this on.

I can't wait until BBHS gets to play in the ALL "A" softball tournament!!!:dancingpa thought RCC might find this funny.

If you kids go to HHS like RCC's kid does they might not get a chance after 1 district game due to the great draw they got in district 36. This has been a great thread and brought out the best and worst of people, but that is what this is for. Good luck to all in the coming weeks.

If you watch at the top the trail offical also calls a foul and basket good but what is not on the video is that they get together for about a 30 second to discussion then go to the scorers table for about a 1 minute to discussion then step back and 1 ref waves his hands in the air as if he was waving off the basket and they run off the floor. The Frankfort fans go nuts because they think he just waved off the basket and they won. BBHS's coach then goes to the scorers table and ask three times is the basket good and the reply was yes but he was the only one that knew. The PA person then came on and said Brossart 41 Frankfort 40 then the brossart fans went crazy. Now do you see why there was confusion. They should have stepped back signaled basket good and waved to show that the game was over. As I have stated the call was correct just could have been handled a little better.

Not signaling basket good was the biggest problem IMO. This created about 2 minutes of madness and they left it up to the PA person to let everyone know the outcome. IMO the outcome should be clear before they leave the floor. Right call not handles in the best manor. The only reason I am still talking about it is I don't think many people have seen this happen and I am curious. I know I have never seen anything like this in 30 years of watching HS basketball.

I asked a few of my friend about this and one of them had a good point. If the whistle was blown for the foul before time ran out (which it did because i heard it) the horn should have never blown because the clock should have stopped. The right call should have been basket good, 1 foul shot, and .3 second or so on the clock. but if that is not enough time to get a ball in play then they called the game since BBHS had the lead and the foul shoot was not needed to decide the game. Thoughts??? and Yes Charlie Chappie is very good and I have a ton of respect for him. I am not questioning his integrity just wondering how this could have been handled better. The right team won because the basket was good IMO

This caused a ton of confusion. Frankfort thought they won the game due to the ref "waving off the shoot" which we know was really signaling game over. The histaria only stopped when the PA announcer gave out the final Score. Ref should have signaled basket good sign first then game over or have PA announcer explain as the ref's were running for the door. It was the right call just not handled well. the ref's did a great job in this game that was very very physical and at times out of control due to the style of play by Frankfort which has a great team. My question is if the foul was before the horn (which it was because I was right there and heard it) but the release of the ball was after the horn what is the call?? No basket but 2 Free throws? Or does the basket count because she was in the act of shooting when fouled before the horn? I think the shoot was good because I think it was out of her hand before I heard the horn but if it was not what would the call have been?

RCC: After reading All 10 pages over the duration of this I am convinced that you not happy about the attention the all "A" takes away from the rest of the schools including HHS. Nobody is reading posts about other games and the news is reporting all "A" results. You can say what you want, but you just don't like it. You have typed thousands of words why it is wrong but in the next sentence say it is ok with you. Your opinion changes sentence by sentence. You are trying to be politically correct. Just have the guts to come out and say you think it is wrong and move on. lets move all sports to 4 levels of play (1A,2A,3A,4A) and call it a day that way Volleyball, basketball, baseball ECT... will compete with the same size school they are just like Division 1,2,3 in college. Not about creating more winner but leveling the playing field for ALL schools as you keep saying.

RCC You have to remember that small schools do not get to reload every year. They have some good runs and some bad. I agree that Brossart and NCC will probably win the next few years but that is not for certain. Brossart almost lost to Bracken in the finals, I think it was a 3 point game with 1:12 left and bracken had the ball. Remember these ARE small schools. If you look at Saint Mary's talent right now that will feed into Brossart there are a few good players but not like has gone there over the last 3-4 years. St. Peter and Paul have a few as well but the talent pool is much smaller. believe me I see it every weekend in the grade school leagues. Their "dominate run" that you like to call it will come and go and when it is good they will do well in the all "A" and maybe have a shoot at the KHSAA region when the talent drops then they will not have a shot at either. And by the way if Football was one class Trinity would be loaded with Championships and Highlands would have far less. This is coming from someone that has two HHS Championships and knows what it is like to win those. Also remember You beat up on the BGH about everything since he is an administrator so since you are now a coach at a High school you will be held to a higher standard just like he is and should be. You now represent that school whether you like it or not.

Anyone that thinks this tournament should not happen Like RCC needs to watch this clip of the game winning shot at the buzzer to put BBHS in the final four that is on youtube (see below). Right before this video started Frankfort hit a 25 foot 3 pointer to take the lead by 1 with 11 seconds. BBHS has no time outs when they are scrambling to get the ball in bounds.
