  1. I'm starting to get a little more information about the coaching job at Montgomery County High School. I was told to expect the announcing of the new High School principal tomorrow and to expect the naming of a baseball coach Friday. The coach was interviewed today and sent to the MC Superintendent Josh Powell for final approval. The administration has spread rumors that they are hiring a coach from Louisiana to North Carolina to Minnesota when facts are if the reports I've recieved are true, it's a coach from Central Kentucky. If this is true it will be a great hire who will win right away at Montgomery County. On another note I'm told that the rumors are that a starter for the MCHS baseball team has been withdrawn from school and will be transfering to GRC High School this coming year. GRC will be favorite to win the 40th District and this kid will only help them win the region if they can get by Harrison County. To be continued......
  2. I'm told they have interviewed 3-4 guys but not anyone who has the credentials to be a good hire. I did hear a coach was interested in the job who would absolutely stun this baseball crazy state if he was hired. I don't think it will happen because of financial reasons because MCHS won't pay to get a top notch Coach.
  3. Keith Madison gives Montgomery County baseball fans a pep talk about not complaining on the Coaches. I think the meeting was a little to late since the complaining parents ran coach Gene Combs off because their son wasn't playing and he didn't listen to an AD on who to play. I was told that only a handful of parents attended the meeting with Madison. I'm told their is around 8 applicants who has put in for this basebakk job. Why would anyone want to coach at a school where the Administration has fired most of the coaches and teachers? I'm also told that all the principles were fired or resigned because Superintendent Josh Powell does not want Teachers or Principles who has more knowlege of education than him. Powell brings his buddy Gene Heffington in to be the Schools Athletic Director at a salary of $85,000 a year. Heffington first order of business was to hire a boys Basketball Coach. He chose Tony Wise who coached at Franklin County HIgh School. Wise came in and didn't play politics and played the players he felt would best fit his system. Wise just won 23 games and ended up losing to Mayson County in the semifinals of the 10th Region Tournament. Wise was fired at the end of the season. Why hire a guy when you knew all along that Happy Osborn was wanting to come back to Central Kentucky and their was a good possibility that Happy would take the job in 2012? Now Tony Wise is sitting at home without a job wondering what he did wrong. Tony Wise is a very good coach and will get another job. Montgomery County baseball team win 22 games this season with one SR and the rest of the players are Juniors and Sophomores. Combs was told numerous times by the AD to play the son who's mother was an employee with the Montgomery County School system ( Superintendent secretary ). I'm told that a few parents who's child didn't get to play any wrote letters all season complaining about anything Combs said or did while on the baseball diamond and they would not sign their names to the letters. Some of the kids would run straight home and tell the parents that combs cursed or said something out of the way to a player Combs wasis trying to get the players better. KBS is trying to get copies of these letters so the truth will get out. Combs got so tired of having to defend himself to Heffington that he said something that he said he would never say and that was " I Quite" Heffington clearly knows nothing about athletics and needs to be removed from his position or destroy MCHS Athletics even more than he already have. Combs is very Close to 400 victories in his career and in my opinion one of the best coaches in the state. He will land on his feet again because a lot of schools that is interested in hiring Combs don't let disgruntled parents run their athletic department. Coaches stay away from this School because these parents will do anything to get you fired if you don't play the right kids. The administration is dangerous and is the laughing stock of the state. Stay away unless you want to destroy your career.
  4. I'm told Mullins started classes at UK yesterday by Coach Bohannon. Uk Coaches has some big plans for him the next three years. UK is going t0 be fun to watch.
  5. I'm from Mason County if that is what you want to know. I am no way affiliated with any schools but I do have a nephew that goes to Mason County High Schhol and he even plays Basketball. Could it be that Montgomery County has three players that is getting watched closely by division 1 schools. I'm going to watch games where the best players play at and Montgomery,Clark,Harrison,Bourbon had the best players in the region in my opinion. A lot of coaches felt the same way. I understand that you guys are unhappy that you didn't make it. Brossart plays like a team and had a great season so be proud of what you did and go and win the State Tournament, I will be here pulling hard for you. Just because you won the Region doesn't mean you have the best players. Montgomery County also beat Mason County by a score 18-0 later in the year. I'm not a fan of Montgomery County and I think their Adninistration is a joke, but I do like to watch a couple of players that play on that team. I liked watching Chase Mullins pitch as well as Jordan Martin. I hope to have our website up in a couple of weeks so feel free to take a look at it. Thank You to Bluegrass preps and Gold Sunrise for giving us the opportunity to poston this great board. I hope I can get Gold Sunrise to be a moderator on our website because she knows her sports. Have a great summer guys! Work hard and I'm sure you will be on here next year. I wish you all much success!
  6. Ben Gulley was the only pitcher from Montgomery County that made the list. I know some of you kids are not going to be happy that you didn't make it. Coaches in the 10th Region will tell you that Montgomery County has talent at the top four batters in their lineup. I recieved an email this morning telling me that allstar is a Montgomery County player who mentioned his own name. I watched Bourbon,Clark,Montgomery and Harrison County the most this year and I agree these teams have more talent than any of the other school combined. I'm not in this to make everone happy,I'm in this to get exposure to the kids who deserve it. Congratulations to the winners. Good luck Seniors as you start a new chapter in your life.
  7. I only see three players that played KBC Allstarwinner. Jordan Nester got votes as a pitcher and 3rd baseman but just missed out. That was the only other player from Montgomery County that got votes. Thank You for your input.
  8. Those players that made the team please message me your address and I will get you your certificate in the mail to you.
  9. Ryan Toy of Montgomery County should have been the other Catcher
  10. It was a mistake on our part. Kendall should of been put down as a pitcher. My apology to Mr. Kendall.
  11. I'm sorry about my grammar in the first sentence. It should have said KBS talked to all the Coaches in the 10th Region that was available. We added the votes up and put the players in order by the votes they got at each position. I tried to do this on my phone and it changed the lettering without me knowing it. I will proof read my writing from now on. Thanks
  12. I was told last night that Mac was going to retire after this season but I'm sure that he may have changed his mind after the way Harrison County got hosed. No disrespect to Brossart because they have a very good team and should be proud of the season they have had. I will be cheering them on next in the State Tournament. If he had been coaching in Montgomery County and cursed the way he did last night he would have got pink slipped and lost his job.
  13. KBC took all the teams in the 10th Region and put them team together after taklking to Coaches at schools. IF-Logan Mcqueary (SR)- Batted around %425 with a high on base persentage. Very good fielder. Going to play College ball at an Military Academy. IF-Blake Thomas (SO)- Batted around 500 with an on base perscentage of upper 500's. Great Glove who plays for Kevin Clary at KBC who has said Major Division 1 schools are watching him closely. Reminds me of J.T Riddle IF- Brent Stoneking(S0)- Started the season very hot but cooled off later on in the season. Good Glove, Brent will always be known as the kid who took Chase Mullins deep to win the 40th District Tournament. IF- Xavier Carter - A very good fielder who is as scrappy as any infielder I have seen in years. Good Bat. Harrison County is loaded next season. IF- Chas Newkirk (JR) Good hitter, average glove with a good arm. Batted near 500 all season. Needs to work on attitude. OF- Justin Harris- (SR) Fastest player in the 10th Region if not the state. Very Good outfielder, Average bat OF- Sam Lee- (JR) Lee didn't have a normal Sam Lee year but still batted around 400 and We think Lee is the best CF in the Region. OF-Zach Fardo-(JR)- Had a good year at the plate, strong arm and very good fielder P- Chase Mullins-(SR) The most dominant pitcher ever in the 10th Region and probably one of the best pitchers in the state. Clark County and Harrison County only teams that could beat him. Needs to add a couple of pitches. P- Jordan Martin-(JR) The second best pitcher in the 10th Region this season. Also a good hitter and good fielder. College scouts watching him closely. I expect big things from him next year. p-Ben Gulley-(JR) Ben turned a lot of head this season especially when he piched a no hitter against Bourbon County and lost the game 1-0. Gulley was a suprise and smaller schools looking at him. A pretty good athlete. P- Derek McKenzie- Derek had a great year for Clark County and turned out to be the Ace for the young Cardinals team. Good command and very good control. C Tanner Norton- Batted around 400 had a good season with good arm. C - Brandon Kendall- Very good catcher who has a very good arm and is a pretty good pitcher. Player of the year - Chase Mullins- UK bound and a great pitcher Freshman of the year- Mark Ramsey of Pendleto County and Luke Sherock of Clark County
  14. I said a son of a board of education employee not a board member. I hear she was Combs biggest critic along with the father of Ben Gulley who is a school board member. I was informed last night that Athletic Director Gene Heffington was being let go today and Phil Rison will be named Athletic Director. I think Rison will do a good job if Superintendent Josh Powell will let him do his job. If I was Rison I would do everything I could to get Gene Combs to stay but when you have every employee at their Central offices against you because their son wasn't playing, I kind of doubt if Phil would stick his neck on the line for Combs. I am hearing that 2 of Montgomery County Indians better players are moving because their parents took jobs in other counties. I knew that was coming.
  15. Right now we have two employees and hope to grow. I hope to have a website and magazine up and going this year. We are just baseball fans who want to see kids get recognition who sometimes is left out because of bigger schools. We have watched 10th Region action this year but hope to grow to where we cover the whole state.
  16. I attended the Regional Tournament tonight at Montgomery County and I was amazed at how beautiful Whitaker field was with the lights on. While walking around enjoying the scenery and listening to the pregame music, I started talking to some fans and they were talking about how the Montgomery County athletic administration forced Coach Gene Combs out after he poured his heart and soul into the baseball program there. The Indians went 22-12 this season and was knocked out of the District Tournament by Clark County in extra innings. Montgomery County lost one senior that played regularly and the core of the returning players were Juniors and Sophomores. I heard several parents say that the Athletic Department was an absolute mess and Athletic Director Gene Heffington had fired every coach in the school except for the Football coach and the girls basketball coach. That made me wonder, why would anyone want to Coach at Montgomery County High School? Will the administration pay the baseball coach the money they paid to get Happy Osborne? If I was a coach I would never want to work for an AD who doesn't know what he is doing. You ask, " How do you know that Heffington doesn't know what he is doing? Here is what I found out the past two days. 1) He has fired every coach in the School System other than the girls basketball coach and football coach. Rumor is unless the Indians football team goes deep into the playoffs this will be the last year for the football coach. 2) I was told by a parent that baseball coach Gene Combs was called by Heffington and was told he needed to play the son of an School Board employee and let him prove himself after she complained to the Superintendent that her son was not playing. 3) Several Parents of baseball players wrote letter complaining on Combs because their son wasn't playing and wouldn't sign their names to the letters. I was told Heffington advised Combs he would investigate every complaint even if the parents would not sign their name on the letters. Basically all you had to do is make up false allegations and not sign your name and Heffington would use that against the coach. 4) Several baseball players parents complained that their son should be playing more and Heffington questioned Combs on why just about every player that wasn't playing. I'm not sure he knew that baseball requires 9 players on the field and up to 10 batters in the game on offense. 5) Heffington forced out Basketball Coach Tony Wise after a 23 win season and informed him they were going in another direction and he wasn't a good fit. Wise pleaded with him and asked that he be given another chance and he would make changes. Heffington would not give in so Wise resigned. The next day reporter Dan Manley contacted Heffington and asked the reason for Wise resigning and he stated that he was surprised that he had resigned and acted as if he didn't know why he resigned. 6) The Montgomery County School System is paying Heffington $85,000 a year to destroy families when in essence he is so lost that it isn't even funny. I was told by a parent to contact another AD in the Region and ask him about the 10th Region Basketball Tournament. I contacted the AD who didn't want his name mentioned but advised me that Heffington didn't know what to do during the tournament and Phil Rison had to bail him out. 7) A school official from another County got in Heffington's face and told him his school would never support Montgomery County High School again at anything after he had cops threaten to put their students in jail because they wanted to celebrate with the team after winning the 10th Region basketball tournament. What is this man thinking to treat kids like this? I wonder what part Phil Rison plays in this? Does he have any imput on the hiring and firings that is taken place. I'm told he plays a very good game with Superintendent Josh Powell and agrees with everything he says not caring about destroying family's. I was told that the father of a baseball player who does not play a lot and is an employee of Montgomery County High School System was put on a committee to hire a new coach. That's a conflict of interest. Did he complain during the season? If I'm a Coach the last place I would want to coach is Montgomery County High School under this Administration. I'm told that a Front runner for the job is a coach that has been charged with DUI and his current school will be glad to get rid of him. Montgomery County Athletics has always been average in my opinion and now I see why. Coach Combs, You deserved better and you may not realize it now but one day you will look back and see you didn't need that job because the School System is not worried about win or losses, they are more worried about keeping the parents happy and letting them run the show. When they see they can't get a top notch coach without baggage to look their way unless they throw out a $100,000 a year like they did to Happy Osborne they may someday see they had a great coach. I feel sorry for the players because at the end of the day they are the one who got hurt over this.
  17. Player of the year and Freshman of the year coming also with all region team. What are your pick?
  18. I'm not sure Trigg County will even make it to the Regional Tournament next year. They have some talent but their District is wide open.
  19. I'm hearing that Combs got 5 offers from other schools the day he resigned. I wonder what MC think's about this guy coming in and firing a coach who may be elected to the KY sports hall of fame someday? Montgomery Countains I would like to hear what you think about this move? I don't like it and I have dealt with Coach Combs several times getting information about his players and I found him to be very personable and I really liked him.
  20. Montgomery County baseball coach Gene Combs has resigned and will move on. I'm not quite sure what has happened but I'm confident he resigned before the AD could fire him since he has fired every other coach in the School System. The Indians won 22 games this season and have all the players coming back except for catcher Ryan Toy. Two players coming back are Sam Lee and Blake Thomas who are two of the best players in the 10th region. I can't see Combs walking away from a team like this on his own. Montgomery County may realize someday that they will not get a top notch coach like Combs who would want to work under this AD and adminastration. I called MCHS and informed them I wanted to talk to the AD about this situation and they hung up on me after saying "he won't talk to you" Combs wins 22 games and AD runs the coach out of town? Didn't he run Tony Wise off after a 23 wins season? I think maybe the AD should get a job out of athletics because you don't fire coaches after good seasons like they had. Coach Combs just had close to 400 wins in his career and two Regional Title under his belt. If I had a son playing for MC I think I would look at other options because the MC AD don't have a clue how to run an Athletics Department. Good Luck coach Combs where ever you end up at,you won't be unemployed long. Shaking my head on this one.
  21. I've never met Mr. Graham but by listening to parents of some students at GRC I think this is a super hire. I thought he would get the job all along because of his background.I watched him several times as a player at Fleming County and he was coaching years later. You don't find coaches very often that was the Player Graham was in High School and College. I say GRC is ready to be put back on the map as State Contenders.
  22. Chase Mullins is the best pitcher in the 10th Region by far if not the best pitcher in the State. Jordan Martin is a very good pitcher. Brent StoneKing has had arm trouble from Clark County would be in my top 5. I thought Jordan Nester from Montgomeryt County had a good year pitching.
  23. I have watched Sam Lee several games and I agree that he is the best center Fielder in the region with Harris from Clark County a close second.
  24. I have seen Wyatt play and I don't think he is in the same league as Thomas. Wyatt and Blake will be playing for the same position so it will be interested. Don't get me wrong Wyatt is a heck of a player and will push Thomas to take over second base.
  25. If Thomas played at a Lexington School I would say Kentucky would grab him in a heart beat. I don't think UK will look at him at Montgomery County unless Champions gets involved. I think he will end up at Cincinnati or Western. I haven't seen a player in Lexington who fields like him and I watch them 3I times a week. He plays for Kevin Clary in the Summer.
