This is a joke - Brossart 0, NCC whatever they feel like making it. BBHS kids running their mouths? Brilliant strategy. Please spare us all the "In 30 years Brossart will be good . . ." posts. Go start a new forum for that. The topic is the game this week and you know what's going to happen. Not a hater, just a realist. Brossart's sports has caught up to NCC? Not in girls' sports. NCC's girl's volleyball and basketball teams are the best thing going this year, as they were last year, and will be for the next several years to come.

Kids in Louisville start playing club ball earlier than any part of the state. You can start playing club ball in NKY in 3rd grade. I doubt Louisville clubs start any earlier. Nothing stopping anyone anywhere in the state from starting a club. They have more facilities, more coaches There's 4 clubs in NKY alone. Plenty of facilities. Not sure that's the reason. A larger population to draw from than any other part of the state. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. That absolutely makes a huge difference. I stand by my rule change statement - it would force all 3 schools down there to shuffle players - they'd still be trading club players for club players, but it might make the playing field a little bit more level. Assumption wouldn't win every year, just every 3rd year. As for the rest of the state outside of Louisville - especially you public schools - hope for classes in Volleyball like in football. It's your only realistic shot.

Look down the topic list and you will see we already beat this horse to death. Thrilled a public school team is top bracket champ? The 5th place team from the bottom bracket can beat the top bracket champ. And, as you see from another topic thread, Assumption won the Durango Classic HS tourney in Las Vegas - Assumption can easily claim now that they are the best HS Volleyball team in the country - and for years to come, since there is no shortage of talent feeding from KIVA into Assumption. Like I said, a rule change (#of club players from same club on same HS team) is the only thing that will stop this dynasty.

Now that we know the state draw, I'm going to answer my own question - no.

Sure - maybe they get 1 or 2 wrong in seeding. But it's so clearly unbalanced now. 9 out of 10 on one side? That's way off. Re-draw.

I think when Assumption defeats Pikesvilleburg County from Region 15 by a final score of 25-2, 25-1 in the KY State Championship Game this year, while Mercy, Sacred Heart, both Holy Crosses', NDA, NCC, St. Henry, and anyone else you want to throw in there watches from the stands, there's something wrong.

That's the problem - everything is run like it's basketball around here. Volleyball is more predictable than basketball. Seed teams after they qualify based on coaches poll. Can't be worse than what happened this year.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE !!! 12 of the top 16 teams in the latest coaches poll on the same side of the bracket - INCLUDING NINE OF THE TOP TEN There has to be a better way. All of NKY and Louisville on the same side? Way to wreck your tournament. BUT here's the silver lining - NDA and NCC will finally have to play each other in the quarterfinals when 9 plays 10.

Didn't help much when both NDA and NCC lost in the State-Semi's at NKU in 2009 to . . you guessed it.

St. Henry defeats Mercy, NDA defeats Sacred Heart, and NCC is loaded with talent. Could this be the first time in a long time (maybe ever) that one of these 3 NKY teams takes down one of the Louisville powers in the state tourney?

"So check yourself and your facts before trolling further." Always do. Rowan Co. lost at home in the 16th region in 2007. BUT, they lost 2 regular season Region 16 matches that year to Morgan Co. and Russell. Not quite as dominant in their region as NCC in 2011. Tell me who NCC has lost to in Region 10 this year? (no one). Tell me who in Region 10 is realistically going to beat them, at home, with a state berth on the line? Please, please tell me.

Quick - name one. Name a volleyball team that dominated their region all seaon, then played a district or regional match on their home court and lost. You can't. This isn't basketball. Last year NDA lost regionals to St. Henry, but it wasn't at home. And I wouldn't say NDA was especially dominant in the region last year (they are this year.) The annual Region 7 showdown between Assumption and Sacred Heart is played at a neutral site, and neither of them dominates their region like NCC does becuase there's simply better competition in Region 7.

Well now you're just being ridiculous. How about this - give NCC the title, but let everyone else play for second. Saves time, rests NCC for state, and all the other teams still get to play. Deal?

What are your camera settings? I noticed your framing is often correct but there's a lot of blurr on the hands or ball. I've found that prime lenses of f/1.8 or lower work the best in these dark (for photography) gyms - set your shutter speed to 1/1000 or more, and bump up your ISO to around 2500-3200. You can get a 50mm prime for under $200 - it will do wonders for freezing the action.

Why would I post not to go to Regionals? Everybody and their brother goes to Regionals. This is the Region 10 forum, correct? Let me try again. Part 1 - NCC is a 100% lock to win their district and therefore host the Regionals for Region 10. Part 2 - NCC is a 100% lock to win Regionals on their home floor and go to state. I'm not referring to Region 2, 7 or 117. But in Region 10, you may have a nice run, but it will stop with NCC winning on their home court. Thanks for coming. Drive safely. I swear, I'm goin to stop taking my youngest to watch NCC play so I will stop feeling compelled to post about them. I'm moving on now. How long until Big Blue Madness?

Unless your name is Newport Central Catholic, you can go ahead and cancel your travel plans to go to state. The winner this year of district 37 (NCC) hosts the Region 10 tourney this year. So, Region 10 champ pretenders (like GRC, Campbell County) barring a colossal collapse by NCC, you are going to have to beat NCC in their own gym to go to state. Good luck with that. Now, having recently seen NCC again, they will keep you in the game by making a lot of serving errors (serving them long - which I guess is better than short) so the score might be closer than the match actually is, but it will still be a thorough(bred) thrashing of Region 10.

Yup - I AM incredulous - I've seen both NCC and NDA play, I know their record against common opponents, I have a daughter who is currently a varsity and club player (easy to figure out which one) in NKY, so I see a lot of volleyball and I know a good team when I see one, or in this case, two. But..NDA should not be behind NCC. Coaches just vote sight unseen. See the other thread (which we should move into here anyway) for the full rant.

Are you kidding me? Have you seen the two of them play? Did you check their results against common opponents? Have you seen what NDA has been doing to traditional Ohio volleyball schools lately? As I have stated here before - I firmly believe NCC will go to state - because they will face no competition in Region 10. They will advance at state until they face a Louisville power, and then lose like everyone else does. But in no way does that mean they are better than NDA, not even this year. NDA will advance to state too, but they have a better chance of upsetting a Louiville power than NCC does. And that chance for NDA increases next year and the year after - while this year is pretty much it for NCC.

NCC is rolling - This year is a make or break state championship run for NCC - serious talent drop-off after seniors leave.
