They've already had 2 shots this season and are 0-2. If NDA plays 100% perfect and Assumption has their worst game ever, then yes NDA wins. It's the same thing you would say in any lopsided matchup. But if your only shot to win is perfection by you, combined with utter collapse by your opponent, that's not much of a chance.

I think it's actually 13 to 18 year olds - I dont want to leave out any older Seniors or 8th graders that may be playing up. I'd say Congrats to Deming, but there is a seperate thread for that, so it really should be posted over there. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were purposely trying to bait me into saying something negative about GRC's quick and unexpected end to their season. Well, there's a lot of that going around this week.

Yea, I think 6 or 7 - beats me how many get actual playing time. Big shoes to fill and harder for them to reload unlike NDA or St. Henry. No one in this state has a shot against Assumption, as I have so famously stated over and over.

NDA vs St. Henry seems inevitable, but . . . Ryle/Scott could get interesting - I've seen Scott look really good, and really bad, the good Scott will have to show up to pull the upset. Ryle/St. Henry could be an interesting match too - Ryle is good, but it may take them another year or two to topple the usual suspects. HC can play very erratic and doesn't stand much of a chance vs NDA. It's going to get real interesting next year adding NCC to this mix, although graduation is going to set NCC way back for a few years.

Yes they are. 1 team. Put Highlands in the GCL and they would be a .500 team. I'm talking playing a GCL schedule every week, not the occasional matchup.

He means for taking pics of the city skyline - When the matches start put your point and shoot camera away please because you won't get a usable picture from the court, unless you have a DSLR with high ISO capabilites and a fast (f1.8) prime lens (sorry those expensive f2.8 zooms won't work here). NCC's gym is a dark dungeon. The KHSAA minimum for gym lighting is 80 footcandles and I bet my light meter would read below that on the floor of their gym. (FYI - I heard a rumor NDA is replacing their lighting - about time, they are just as dark) And please - my pet peeve is people taking flash pictures during a volleyball match. First - you are flashing a bright beacon right into the eyes of players trying to pick up a speeding ball. It's hard enough without you blinding them. I really wish the officials would crack down on this. And #2 - unless you have one of the $2,000 + cameras decribed above, you aren't going to capture a usable picture anyway - no matter how much you flash away. Take video if you must, that usually does well in low light.

You make sure it lingers. Yup. Coincidence how the 2 quotes (GRC and Camp Co) are from large, public, tax $$ funded, county schools - aimed at small, private, Catholic schools that get zero tax $$. Why do they feel like they have to pick on the little guy?

Interesting choice of words for volleyball . . . I'd say it's going to bounce a lot on NDA's side of the court, and not so much where Assumption will be standing.

I'm going to have to edit this forum title based on the Chicago results - it's more like #1 in the Country vs #3 in Kentucky now. Sacred Heart has surged back ahead of NDA into #2 in the state based on the Chicago results. After winning Durango and Chicago, Assumption has to be #1 in the country now - they were in the top 5. Assumption vs NDA this Thursday probably won't be as good as NCC vs St. Henry was this past Saturday.

Please don't ever, ever associate the fine upstanding people of NDA, or any other school, with my lunatic rants. I don't represent anyone but myself. I have *zero* association with NDA, NCC, Assumption, and every other HS out there - except one - and their volleyball isn't worth talking about, so I don't. It will be widely reported that the state championship volleyball match will take place on Oct 29th at Bellarmine, where Assumption will defeat "Pikesvilleburg South" from Region 15, 25-2, 25-3. Anyone who knows volleyball will tell you this is terribly incorrect. With no apologies to the KHSAA and their antiquated random seeding system, or to the schools lucky enough to draw the top half of the state bracket, Assumption vs NDA on Thur Oct 6 at Thomas More College is the REAL state championship match in the Commonwealth. Assumption is the unanimous #1 and I'm valuting NDA to #2 ahead of Sacred Heart based on # of losses. It's simply the biggest and best volleyball match played in the state this season . . .the 2 top programs in the state . . . final regular season match . . . the most D1 recruits on the floor at the same time at any match this season in the state . . . Assumption leads season head-to-head 1-0 . . . game moved to Thomas More for extra seating for all the college scouts and coaches . . . (I made that up but semi-true). NDA has a shot if 3 or more Rocket starters are out with the flu, otherwise I say Assumption rolls until proven otherwise. The Rockets are 27-1 and have only lost 4 sets all season. They are a step above everyone else in Kentucky, and in most other states' as well.

Conversely, let's not sell short a player just because she goes to a private school and plays club volleyball. That does not guarantee success. There are many levels of club volleyball - some of it is not any better than HS ball. You have to work your butt off to be a good player, in club, in private schools, and in public schools. As I've said before, there's nothing stopping anyone anywhere in the state from starting up a club team - it has nothing to do with schools or school funding. I don't get the love affair we have with the underdog. When Assumption soundly defeats whoever comes out of the top bracket, I will be proud of their achievement. Around the state they will be perceived as the evil empire, beating up on the poor public schools. That's a bunch of crap. Want to get better in volleyball? Give up the statewide love affair with basketball and start playing volleyball year 'round and working your butts off like these girls do. They deserve everything they get, including another state championship.
