Coach Melissa Johnson liked the way her Camels played with an confident, aggressive edge against Silver Grove. “We had a lot of aces, but we can still be more consistent,” she said. “Consistency will win us a championship.”

 

Campbell beat the Mustangs in straight sets in the regular-season meeting. Johnson said the key in the final is to avoid being overconfident against Brossart.

 

“It wasn’t them last year,” Johnson said of the Mustangs’ first district championship since 2003. “It was us thinking that we had it. We were way overconfident and we didn’t play as well as we should have, and that’s not going to happen this year.”

That's kind of what I was thinking. She dissed Brossart and put all the pressure on her team. Perhaps she is smart like a fox and it works for them, who knows. bredwinner - I bet that GRC coach's quote from last year about NCC still lingers and motivates.

You make sure it lingers, but I doubt NCC needs any motivation to take on any team.

Yup. Coincidence how the 2 quotes (GRC and Camp Co) are from large, public, tax $$ funded, county schools - aimed at small, private, Catholic schools that get zero tax $$. Why do they feel like they have to pick on the little guy?

I think the smaller private schools success and championships speak enough words. I will be happy for whoever, regardless of public/private, that wins. Because no matter how they are funded - the athlete playing the game; won it.
