  1. After watching this game, Eli played very well as did Aric. Couple of fouls on Miller were questionable as were a couple on Coomes. Apollo has a 6'4" wing man, they do not need a 6'8" wing. Trace has got to learn to play inside, which it appears is not going to happen. Hard for me to believe that Apollo has struggled as much as they have this year. That being said, Apollo has the same problem that OHS has, the need for a true point guard who can run the office and possibly score 6-8 points a game.

While Apollo has the size with Trace to match up, I think Daviess County poses the biggest threat to OHS. However, it appears OHS region to lose.

  2. I respectfully disagree with Clyde. 14-15 Case book Rule 9.1 Comment Players who do not occupy a marked lane space may not have either foot break the vertical plane of the free-throw-line extended and the vertical plane of the three-point line until the ball touches the ring or the backboard, or the free throw ends. It is a poor job of the officials to keep the team at their bench, but if they are walking off and step onto the court by my understanding of the rule it is a violation.

  3. I disagree with both of you. OHS may lose to Trinity, but they will beat Henderson 4-1 last 5 games. To much size inside for Henderson to handle. Miller to big and to strong. Holman is a nightmare for Henderson.

As for the 10 Ten, I agree with the top 2, but Apollo is 3 Catholic, now that O'Bryan is back is 4. Then the rest of the region. Here's the shame of it all. 4 of the best teams in the region are in the 9th district and 2 of them will watch the regional from the same place I will, in the stands. In all likelihood it will be a 9th district final in the regional final as well.

  4. I have two girls, that both play on the high school team. My youngest has health issues that require Gatorade/Powerade. Her coach knows of these issues, and I put the Gatorade on the bench during warm ups with her initials on the lid. Place another one there at half-time while they are in the locker room. Guess I'm a terrible parent for taking care of my child.

  5. ApolloFan98 - I agree for the most part with everything that you have said with regards to the Red Devils. I think they are a point guard away from being scary good. They do have a effort issue, sometimes a couple of kids do take plays off. But for the most part their length creates a ton of problems for most high school teams. Holman inside what shots he doesn't block the rest of them he alters. There are only 2 schools in the 3rd region I think can beat them, and they are both in the 9th and only one will be going to the region.

  6. I know there is a thread dedicated to best players in each region, but I think best player and most valuable player are often different players. I'm going to throw some names out there. Feel free to agree, disagree and share your own choices below:

    1st: Parker Adams, Calloway

    2nd: David Simmons, Henderson

3rd: Justin Miller, Owensboro (no one in the region can stop him except for the referees).

    4th: Tucker Sine, Bowling Green

5th: Brandon Berry, Taylor County (biggest impact transfer in the state in my opinion).

    6th: Tay Weaver, Doss

    7th: Waynie Sutton, Manual

    8th: Carson Williams, Owen County

    9th: Drew MacDonald, NCC

    10th: Dorian Henry, Mason County

11th: Matt Rose, LCA (take him off the team and they're mediocre at best).

12th: Timmy Taylor, Lincoln County (controls every aspect of the game).

13th: Andrew Taylor, Corbin (scores 1/3 of his team's points).

14th: Braxton Beverly, PCC (take him off that team and I'm not sure they can score 40 points a game.)

15th: Kyle Gullett, Johnson Central (10-1 in games he played. 1-7 combined in the games he missed and the game he got hurt.)

    16th: Jordan Perry, Morgan County

Again, these are only my opinions and I tried to avoid too much of a Hoop Dreams bias.

Now feel free to tell me how wrong I am and how much of a homer I am.

While Miller is a nice player, no way he is the MVP in the region. Miller comes out of the game, O'boro can still score, rebound with the players they have on the floor. The Griffith kid at Daviess IMO is the MVP, take him away from Daviess and they are just another team, this kid is the straw that stirs the Daviess County drink.
