  1. Guys I'm talking about when they first left Louisville and moved to BG. The reason was Louisville at this time was in the Big East before all the realignment took place. Louisville (in the Big East, not the ACC) was having to play a game the first weekend of December, so Papa John's would not be available and BG won the initial bid to take the State Championship games. Now that WKU in the C-USA can host a championship game unlike 4 of the power 5 conference who play their Championship game at a neutral site, it maybe time to move back to Papa John's or as some has suggested move to Commonwealth. Therefore, your 1A game will get the same respect the other classes are suppose to be getting as has been stated on here. While I don't agree with this theory, it is what it is.

  2. If I remember correctly this was one reason the State Championship games were moved from Papa John in Louisville to Bowling Green, because U of L could not guarantee the KHSAA would have access to the field for Friday and Saturday of the first weekend in December, this was when U of L was in the Big East. Now because of WKU season and hosting a championship game we are faced with a schedule dilemma. We could very easy move it back to Papa John with U of L being in the ACC as U of L will never host a Championship Game since the ACC plays their championship game in Charlotte. This way we will never have to face this possibility again. I attend the Championship games on the weekend and look forward to 3 games on Friday and 3 on Saturday. Now, I will not be attending the 1A game on Thursday, and I highly doubt I will stay till 10-11 on Sunday to watch the 4A game. I knew I should have been rooting for Marshall the day after Thanksgiving.

  3. Devils58, I kindly disagree that the winner of the OHS/BG games wins state. I think they have a shot, but I'm telling your Pulaski County is on a mission. As defending State Champs they have been getting snubbed all year, and those kids if they stay healthy for 2 more weeks will be in BG to play whomever comes out of the west and those Maroons will be ready!

  4. This is going to be a great game, and I plan on being there. While I'm not really a fan of either team, I want to see a good high school football game. I've seen BG up close and personal this year, and while they are not as talented as the BG teams of a few years back, they are still a very talented football team. While the first game between these two teams was close, you can forget that game. Both coaches staff's will make adjustments and give different looks and scheme's they the other team will not be expecting. That being said, halftime will require further adjustments and knowing the BG staff I have to give them the edge there.

It's an old cliché` but the truth of the matter is this, they team that wins will play well in all 3 phases of the game, offense, defense and special teams. The winner will also not commit dumb penalties, and will not turn the ball over. My wish is for this to be a clean game, (no dumb penalties, or turnovers) and no one to get hurt.

This being said, something tells me that it's time for the devils to find a way to win after all the losses to BG, but my head tells me BG is just a little better. Which means I'm going with my head and not my heart.

PS. This game is not for the State Championship regardless of what all the Purples and Devil's fans may say. There is a team that is still alive in the east, that has had a running clock in all of their games but the only loss to Scott County, and in all likelihood will have a running clock tonight. Don't sleep on the Maroon's of Pulaski County! BG, Owensboro or Fern Creek, will have to play their "A" game to beat the Maroons.

  5. Football is an emotion sport, and I get that. #1 . Is definitely a Unsporting act. #2 can be a taunting act, if he is close to the player he tackled, this one can be prevented by officials getting to the pile quickly. #3 , Does sound like much to me, but as my coach told me when you score, act like you've done it before. #4 . Doesn't sound like much except to excite fans. Again, can be prevented by officials getting to the pile quickly.

  6. Not disagreeing but explain if you don't mind. Curious...

Both have great teams and are rolling through everyone at the moment.

Be glad to. 3-a Mr. Elder Smith will have to compete with Belfry and if Central in the east will be another tough out. Depending on where this game is played Belfry Boyle will be worth the price of admission.

For the younger Smith he should have a relative easy time getting up Nashville Road to WKU stadium to face Johnson Central. Just my thinking.
