  1. I think PSU is in major trouble. As Matt Millen said, there is a train coming, don't know when it's going to arrive, and I don't think we have heard the last of this whole situation. That being said, I'm not sure very many seasoned coaches will be interested in this job. Meyer, will be at Ohio St., if he coaches next year. As long a Jo Pa has been at Penn St., you don't hear alot about his coaching tree. Golden that is at Miami comes to mind, he might be interested. No one on that staff will be offered the job and they will no doubt clean house, they have to.

  2. I have seen some comments that if you don't win your conference championship you shouldn't have a shot (and that it was an unwritten rule)...but didn't Nebraska play for a BCS championship after not making it to the Big 12 championship?

That is true, it happened 2001. Everyone knew that Nebraska had no business playing in that game either. Since then it has been sort of an un written rule that in order to play for the NC you had to win your conference. I think last night was a great game, but if both OK State and Stanford lose, then I say let LSU play Boise, so we can get rid of those blue smurfs once and for all.

  3. Great game tonight, but I don't want to see a replay of this game in the BCS National Championship game for these reasons.

#1. If you can't defend your home turf, you shouldn't get a 2nd chance.

#2. If you can't win your conference championship how can you be a National Champion?

With that thought in mind, it's now on to the BCS NC game for LSU and the Sugar Bowl for Bama!

  4. I think Saban the defensive mind that he is will find a way to have Bama's "D" stop LSU "O" which is good but not great. I think Bama's "O" is better and Richardson is the difference maker. I'm picking Bama by a touchdown 24-17, and for the record, NO I do not want to see them play again in a BCS Championship game. Winner on Loser to the Sugar Bowl. IMO.

  5. Moving from the Big East will help your boys in Basketball, but in football leaving the Big LEast for the Big 12 might be too big a bite to take for the Mountaineers. Good Luck!!!

Jumper Dad, the new Coach we have has ties to TX and OK which will enable WVU to recruit with those teams. I think in a few recruiting classes, if we can hang on to Holgersen, we will compete in football as well as Basketball. However, with Mitch involved now, looks like WVU to Big 12 is on hold. I don't know why WVU didn't tell the Big 12 we will come, but you need to invite UL and UC and put the league to 12 teams and have a Championship game again..

  6. Wow, it looks like WVU to the Big 12 regardless of what Mizzu does. Not sure what to think about this as a WVU fan, but can't wait to go to Norman, or Austin. Not sure how we will do and what this will do to recruiting, but it has to be better than playing in the Big East in football. Wish UL and Cinny was going with us.

  7. You do realize even a place like UK (that has a crazy fanbase, leads the nation in attendance every year, etc., etc.) makes less money on basketball than it does on football, right?

Honestly I didn't realize this. But I did find out today from a friend of mine the real reason football is driving this. Because football keeps all of it's money to share with the school and conference. Basketball is the NCAA's cash cow and why they NCAA is so tore up with all of this football re-alignment. Sort of like the rich getting richer and the poor getting more poor.

  8. Here is the ultimate contradiction from what you start with to the end of the paragraph. Va Tech ran as fast as possible from the rivalry with WVU in large part because of the fan base, and the fact it is simply not safe for opposing fans to go to a game in Morgantown. When was the last time opposing fans ended up in the hospital in Starksville? When did opposing teams have to keep their helmets on at all times during games for protection against objects flying from the stands? The WVU reputation has been very well noted and earned over the years. No one wants to go there to watch their team play. Period...

News Flash GT: That stuff happens at a lot of college games week in and week out. Not all WVU fans are bad folks just like all of ____________ (your choice of school in the blank) are bad fans. FYI - WVU and Va Tech quit playing each other because they went their separate ways due to conference affiliations. Just like Penn State and WVU and just like what will happen when Pitt joins the ACC.

Week before last it sure looked like LSU fans wanted to come and watch their team play in Morgantown, and I met a lot of nice LSU fans, and I've met a lot of nice Auburn fans when they were in Morgantown. It's like this just becasuse one person has lied to me, doesn't make everyone a liar. Besides, when was the last time you were in Morgantown GT? Do I need to take you to a game with to let you see it's not my dad's Morgantown any longer.

  9. As a WVU fan, some of you on here have not clue as to how "most" WVU fans are. We are passionate about our school just like you are yours. While Morgantown may not be the best college football town, Starksville is not that appealing either. Just an FYI, WVU was recently named one of the top 100 universities in America academically. Now that Pastilong is out as AD, we have a very respectable AD in Oliver Luck who will continue to look out for what is in the best interest of WVU. Also, President Clements, is also well respected as well. Now that Barney (Bill Stewart) is gone as coach, Dana Holgersen will again take the program to where it was when Rich Rod left. I would personally like to see WVU in the ACC, I think not only can WVU compete there, but also win that conference as well. That would keep the Back Yard Brawl game on a yearly basis and restore a rivalry with Va. Tech. I would like to see us in the SEC as well, while we wouldn't win the conference until our recruiting becomes better, hopefully it would help in that department. I would also love to see us play Bama, just so we could bring Nick home once in a while.

Here's what I don't understand and would love for someone to explain this to me. Why is football driving this bus? Why is Basketball not in control? Just wondering and have never heard an explanation for that.

  10. Daviess County won at Breck. Co. The only district runner up to win tonight. Owensboro Catholic beat Meade Co., Grayson County beat McLean County and Muhlenburg Co. beat Butler County.

So Wednesday night at the Sportscenter in O'boro: The first game will be Owensboro Catholic against Muhlenburg Co. and the second game will be Grayson Co against Daviess County.

  11. I think some of you might be surprised by this game. Casey County might just keep it a lot closer than some think, and who knows, they could pull the upset. I'm not really one for comparing scores, but I do believe they hold some validity for making predictions. Both teams played Perry Co. Central, and early on in the year at that. Casey County went to PCC and lost 21-20 and Breathitt went to PCC as well, losing by 3-4 TD's I believe?

Should be an interesting game. No better environment to play in than at Breathitt County. You folks do it up right- 1st class!

I think you are on to something and I would not be surprised if Casey does win.
