  1. Ok, buddy. I guess you and I are just a little different (and that's ok). The last 2 years Nicholas beat Lewis simply because they played harder. I didn't make any excuses or downplay NC's ability to score or say it was blown coverage this or that. I gave credit where it was due. Look, I know that NC had more than their share of opportunities, and I know that execution was not there. But here's where I'm at, Lewis County had some real soul searching to do at half time...and they busted their butts to come back and win the game. At the end of the day, what we type on here really doesn't matter, and hopefully the players aren't reading this stuff anyway, I just don't think you can take that win away from the players by saying blown coverage and ball squirts out and falls directly into a LC players hands. You needed 2 1st downs to seal the deal, we needed a big play. It is what it is.
  2. When you lose, it is time to fix problems, not blame the other team. Last year, Lewis County would have lost a game like that for the exact same reasons. This year, they responded after half-time and found a way to win. I say this out of true respect for your team. Coach Hop always has a team that plays hard, and it is quite obvious that with Mr. Pope in the backfield, you are a hard playing team with talent. Instead of complaining about what you did wrong, fix it! There are still 9 games left (guaranteed that is).
  3. Mason County is well-coached and they have leadership and experience. Pawsat and Harris help to make Mason Co. a well-balanced offense. Greenup Co. has the potential to win this game, but Mason Co. Prevails...win by 10.
  4. All we need to do is get rid of the 4-Team Districts...If you are in a 5,6,7 or 8 team district, then you do have to earn your spot. And I can't think of one High School Football player that would choose to miss the playoffs just to avoid getting beat big in the 1st round. They play every game for a reason.
  5. Look, Coach Prater is great. He's a great man and a great football mind. I don't care much for people trying to say that he's the only reason Lewis had any success this year. Coaches can only do so much. The chemistry that these kids have and their refusal to be intimidated by anyone was what made the difference. Sure the coaching staff did a great job, but it's the guys that wear the pads that make or break the team. Coach Hughes has a lot to do with that. The kids believe in him and in Coach Prater and in the entire coaching staff, and in the mindset that we're turning things around at Lewis County. No one man can take credit for this season. This is a team sport!
  6. Thanks for the kind words Watusi. We had a special group of young men this season. Coach Hughes is doing things the right way and the future is bright for Lewis County. Hats off to the 13 seniors for making this such a memorable season. You've started something that I hope each and every underclassman can build upon. Belfry is a great team, and Coach Haywood is a class-act. Good Luck on your way to State, Pirates...
  7. A lot of people are forgetting how solid Mason County is all around. Yes they lose their Quarterback (Good Luck with your recovery Neal), but during the playoffs, every other player on their roster will just have to work that much harder. I wouldn't count Mason County out as far as being Bowling Green Bound. There's a lot of Football to be played!
  8. Powell County has some Seniors that have started all four years of High School. They want to go out with a bang. Look for a close game here. Powell took Magoffin to Overtime, and I look for this one to end the same way. Timmy, Quentin, Tyler...work hard boys! Powell 32 Garrard 30
