I do not believe that requiring teachers to obtain a Master's degree does anything for the overall quality of education in any state. A Master's degree can certainly enhance the knowledge level, but if the mindset is that you must obtain an advanced degree beyond your bachelor's to keep your certificate....then we can only expect that the schools in which teacher's teach will perpetuate that mindset and drive more students toward college. Part of the broken system is continuing the fallacy that higher education is the exclusive pathway to a better standard of living....

This absolutely proves my point. Why would the State of Kentucky not grant reciprocity from an accredited institution ? I'll answer that. Because the State subsidized universities that offer the programs and control the teachers in the state want the $$$$ for their programs. It's an educational monopoly that only serves to line the pockets of those that make the rules for the game.....borders on criminal

Typically you are given a certain amount of time to obtain the necessary credentials. With teaching, the specific Master's degree is the key to retention. I would guess that he potentially knew and likely even knew what courses he needed to add to satisfy the Board. It is also likely that obtaining those required taking classes were probably not conducive to a head coach position

Not surprised. This happens more frequently than many know. A Master's degree does not necessarily satisfy the Ky requirement for teachers in the public system. If the State of Kentucky doesn't figure this out, we will continue to get what we get in the public system....so many good people that could be teachers but the State education system disallows....

Agree 100% with these two statements, but it makes my point. If I am "consistently the second best team in my district" then obviously I want to seed because, as I said, you have to play Big Brother and they keep beating me. So instead of getting better and knowing you have to beat them to win, you settle for being 2nd best and ride the #2 train to the regional. Makes perfect sense right? I don't want the 3 or 4 team to potentially go because I am better than them, but I want to go, even though I am not the best. Put someone else down using the same logic to get my team there... There is nothing wrong "with wanting a better shot to play in the regional tourney", for either team, the way they get there may be different. I do believe you have identified the core issue here in your statement "consistently the second best team in my district" and that is why the push, otherwise it wouldn't matter....

It's 100% true. However, if you shy away from playing Big Brother because you don't have confidence in beating them, then of course you want a different system. This particular seeding scenario in this district is because of 1 school, Mason County. Bracken does not appear to have the confidence to be able to rise up against the rest of the district and is afraid if the #1 and #2 play, then one doesn't get to go to the region. Where is Mason in this argument ? If Bracken wants to strong arm the small schools, then they should man up and understand that they still have to win to be a champion, but that may be lost if the argument you are making is "I don't want to be the one left out". Small schools argue for the potential to receive much needed revenue, others argue because they fear they may get eliminated. Play the game, beat the best, be the best...doesn't matter if you seed or not. The Sweet 16 is by far the best example of this argument.

I don't think this is a mathematical issue, but rather a statistical issue. A blind draw is random chance, just a smaller pool of potential. Blind is blind and it levels the playing field for the chance. Unless Julian intervenes, this action has done nothing to bring the 2 small schools any closer to BC's position, and in fact has probably widened that gap....if BC's thinking was that they are not going to travel to Augusta because it gives Augusta a nice gate, then the same is true on the home game end. Kind of cutting your nose to spite your face in terms of gate money. If Bracken is good enough, who cares if you have seed or draw...you still have to beat the best and that's all this comes down to....

Lots of crying over blind draw or seeding. Bottom line, you have to beat the best to be called the best, and you have to beat the not so best to be called the best. If Bracken can't beat Mason (which is why they want to hold the smaller schools hostage) then isn't Bracken's reasoning for wanting seeding the same as the smaller schools wanting a blind draw ? It's about opportunity. I think this backfires for Bracken. They look like bully's on the block, holding the gate hostage, knowing that money drives the small school train. As a return favor, I believe that Augusta has gone as far as cancelling summer scrimmages with Bracken. Now that everyone has taken their permanent position of firmly entrenched, what is Bracken's next move ? I do not see Augusta or St Pat playing nice in the sandbox now that they have a gun to their head.....Good luck Bracken, but there is some flawed logic in your position. Play the best, beat the best, be called the best....everything else is whiny.
