  1. I look for one team to distance itself from the pack in the 10th, just like GRC did last year. The 10th Region was supposed to be one of the weakest in the state last year, and while it might have been, it produced another solid contender at Rupp, just like every other year.

Montgomery County, Scott, or Brossart would be the most likely candidates to represent the 10th at Rupp, but Pendleton County, Mason County and Campbell County (Depending on McGovney's health) are viable candidates as well.

  2. I guess we don't know Broxy well enough to get the joke. "Sorry for eating all of the BBQ." Pretty good stuff. :thumb: Doesn't he weigh in at about 300 lbs?

When I first read the tweet, I loved his sense of humor. I was hoping he had a personality comparable to Brian Wilson. Shame that's not his real Twitter Account.

  3. While we're on the topic of catchers, as a catcher who has been around high school and college baseball, but not MLB, I have a question I've always wondered.

At all levels up until the MLB, bullpen catchers are on the roster and available to play. Do teams hire people to travel with the team and strictly fill the role of a bullpen catcher?

  4. They were speculating Valdez would be the emergency catcher last night. No joke. Not trying to be funny.

You might not be trying to be funny, but I'm laughing.

Seriously though, Meso isn't the first catcher to be suspended. What do other teams do for a backup catcher when they have one get suspended? Teams don't ever already have three catchers on the roster do they?

  5. Quentin resigned for 27mil through 2015...He has cooled off and is no longer much of an upgrade over Ludwick so this probably a good thing for Reds fans as hopefully all attention is on acquiring a lead off guy now...Wasting prospects on a Quentin rental would have probably been a bad thing...I was for it at first but with Luddy comind around I dont know that he would put the Reds over the top potentially like a capable leadoff man would...

A lot of people, including myself, got caught up in believing Carlos Quentin was an upgrade over Ludwick when he was batting .450 and hitting a home run every other day his first 3 weeks off the DL. In reality, he's an oft-injured .250 hitter who's only hit over 26 home runs once in his career.

  6. Montgomery will be preseason number 1 in the Region. I think Mason County will give them a run or their money since the Region is at Mason County. Don't ever count out GRC who will be young but if they play like a team like they did last season then anything could happen. I heard Happy has already got a guard from Shelby County. I look for a few other players to be added before the season starts.

I would rank Brossart and Scott ahead of Montgomery County.

  7. Lineup should look something like this:

    5- Ethan Moore

    4- Mackenzie Colvin

    3- Garrett Appleman

    2- Aaron Gibson

    1- Mason Monroe

Bench- F Andrew Antrobus, G/F Austin Pyles, G/F Jackson Strong

Pendleton returns 3 starters and 3 more players (Colvin, Gibson, and Andrew Antrobus) that saw a lot of Varsity time last year. Size will be an issue, as the lineup I posted only has one player taller than 6'0. New coach Ed Cravens likes to run a fast-paced offense, and press and trap on defense, so that should play into Pendleton's strength.

Pendleton's biggest issue will be finding consistent second offense outside of Monroe. That was a big issue last year, and losing Rering and Antrobus certainly won't help that. Ethan Moore is probably the most likely candidate to fill that role.

I would rank Brossart, Scott, Montgomery County, and possibly Mason County ahead of them in the pre-season.
