  1. Slim - "largest group of self-centered players and parents" is a pretty bold statement for that parent to make??? I know a lot of those kids played in the BC Pee Wee system, what do you think happened? If I remember right, those kids didn't seem that way when they were younger. I could be wrong, I was only able to see what happened on game days back then. But then again, I didn't know their parents.
  2. Sounds like the Freshman went back to the "spread" offense with a single back set? How did that work out last night? Not well, I am guessing. From what I have seen in the past, most of these players will not see the field at the varsity level, if they continue to play like they did earlier in the season.
  3. Why would anyone be shocked?? Maybe Conner deserves a little more respect from all of the football experts around NKY. A few adjustments here and there and they could very easily run the table. Maybe the SK loss was a good thing and woke everyone up in Hebron? Sometimes a loss early can be the best motivational tool any coach could use.
  4. Abandoned the spread. It seems to me when Conner played Ryle Freshman, I had mentioned that they do not have the horses to run the spread offense. Maybe the coaches seen the same thing?? I believe the running back you are referring too is Fogle. He has been a standout throughout the Boone Co Pee Wee system. If I am not mistaken he was Player of the Year twice.
  5. Due to a scheduling mix up with Fox Sports, this game is being played on Friday night at Conner. Originally, it was to be played on Thursday night and be on TV for the high school game of week. Fox sports double scheduled games.
  6. What about the Conner side? How did they score? Was the spread working?
  7. For those that were not there, let's here some details from CovCath/Conner freshman game last night. Who stood out on both sides of the ball? Last week all we heard was how the spread was the way to go for young Conner players no matter what?? The young QB was the next coming of Nick West. How did it work out last night? Apparently, not any better if the score posted is correct.
  8. It all depends on which defense shows up ready to play. The "bend don't break" defense of Conner will diffently need to step up to stop Simpson. SK's defense also has a big task of keeping West and his weapons under control. Whoever can stop the other teams "star" will win. Either way, this will be a match between two of the best 6A teams in NKY. Northern Ky 6A should make a deep run into the playoffs this season. When you include Ryle into the mix, NKY 6A may be the most competitive region in the state just to make the playoffs.
  9. My point is maybe this group of athletes will not be able to run an effective Spread offense at the varsity level. From what I have heard the current JV squad does not run it very well either. A QB like West only comes around on rare occasions. Sometimes a coach needs to change styles of play based on talent ability?? If you don't play to win, why keep score? Then no one would have anything to post about. It's Friday, let's go watch some football.
  10. Do you also remember back far enough when Beechwood was everyone's Homecoming game? Team heritage can change.
  11. No axe. Just stating facts. The current varisty seniors were a very good Freshman team. They actually played Highlands in the Freshman Championship.
  12. The varsity has different athletes that can perform.
  13. Both teams very sloppy. The best team won without a doubt. Conner has huge issues with lines on both sides of the ball. The look scared, confused or both. Ryle dominated their right side all night. Conner was trying to run a 4-4 and convert to a 5-3 before the snap. Several times Ryle snapped the ball while Conner was in adjust mode. Ryle could have gained 6 yrds a carry over their right side without blocking anyone, it looked like Conner was trying to run stunts and left huge holes in the B & C gap. Poor tackling from Conner resulted in big gains and momentem shifts. QB for Conner actually threw 2 interceptions and several other poorly thrown passes, due to pressure from the defense. It looks like Conner does not have the athletes for the spread offense, QB has trouble making correct decisions, line has trouble holding blocks, receivers are slower than expected. Maybe Conner needs to run a traditional style of offense if they want to win on the Freshman level.
  14. The Freshman QB at Conner is very good and will only get better as he matures. The running back #22 from Conner also looks like he can play with anyone. He seems to get his number called quite a bit. Someone said he had a couple of older brothers that was pretty good?
