  1. None of my business but it sounds like sour grapes to me.
  2. Congratulations. It's always good to see a kid get the chance to play at the next level.
  3. You may have a point there but that is what coaches do. Look at the college ranks. Coaches start as position coaches, become coordinators, move to head coaching positions in smaller schools. When they have success they build a resume. When opportunities come along they take that resume and move up. This opens doors for new coaches to move in and do the same. Coaches move up the ranks until they are in a program where they can be really competitive. This doesn't say that the previous jobs were bad or the kids were bad. It is just a natural part of the "coaching business". There are few high school coaches out there who can say that if given the chance they wouldn't Leave their current jobs for a chance to take a job like Beachwood, Breathitt, Highlands, St. X, Trinity,. If they say they won't its because they have significant community ties which prohibit them from making the move. In business, if a person tries to better their situation, make more money, have a better quality of life, we call them a go getter. In coaching we call them a user or a turncoat. However, if you think about it it is the same thing.
  4. For Example????? You mean like when Stepp was in with Rockcastle, Bell, Letcher Central, Madison Southern, Perry Central. Should Clay have finished 1st or 2nd? Or at Berea When he was in with Raceland, Paris, Fairview, Nicholas Co. (Check their record while Stepp was at Berea), Should Berea have even made the Playoffs?

  6. I did some research on Stepp. This is what I found out. Played high school ball under Bill Letton @ Prestonsburg. He started his coaching career @ Sheldon Clark under Jim Matney (Now at Johnson Central). He left there to work under Jay Cobb @ Knott Co. When Cobb left to Somerset, Stepp went to Berea to take a job no one else wanted. He stayed at Berea 4 years.. His first year there he was 2-8. The following season they went 8-3 and lost in the playoffs to Newport Central Catholic. They lost in the playoffs the next year to Newport Central Catholic again, who was a state runner up in class A. The next year they lost to Beachwood. He took the job at Clay. He went 0-10 his first season and 4-6 the next year. 4 Consecutive trips to the playoffs after that. Take away his first year at Beara (2-8) and first year at Clay 0-10 His record would be 57-43. Both of these were rebuild projects. His first year at Harrison was respectable with a 6-6 record and a district championship. Finally, Keep in mind that Stepp is only 36 years old. I am sure Franklin Co. was looking for a young guy with experience. It is hard to find a 36 year old coach with 11 years of head coaching experience. Stepp’s Playoff Record L Berea vs. Newport Central Catholic L Berea vs. Newport Central Catholic L Berea vs Beachwood L Clay Co. vs Boyd CO L Clay Co. vs. Ashland Paul Blazer L Clay Co. vs. Rockcastle Co.
