  1. FYI. I just called Rupp Arena because we were heading over to the games this evening. They said they are NOT sold out. Lower arena is sold out. Hope the ticket office was right!
  2. Both are important, but the first round can have a great deal more pressure surrounding it. If you lose your season is over; if you win you have at least 2 more games.
  3. I totally agree! I was recently told that behavior problems may be keeping larger schools from having pep rallies. I would suggest that the school use it as a reward for the kids who are NOT behavior problems and as an incentive for those who cause problems. Students who have had in school or out of school suspension would not be allowed to attend. Instead they would be in a classroom viewing a video about "how to be a good citizen" or some other helpful activity lead by the assistant principals/guidance counselors. The rest of the student body and teachers could be rewarded with some fun and free time and everyone would enjoy school more!
  4. It has been mentioned on here in several threads this season that attendance at games has been lower than ever for many teams. I have been wondering if part of the reason could be that our high school no longer has pep rallies - not even before big games such as a rivalry game or a district championship. Pep rallies used to create school spirit and help give the team a boost. Students left school that day with a strong desire to attend the game. Pep clubs used to decorate the gym or have a send-off for the team. Now it seems hardly anything is done, unless the booster club of parents intiates it. Is this happening at other schools? Are pep rallies and active pep clubs in the past?
  5. A friend of mine said both teams looked rusty yesterday. I don't know when Conner's JV last played, but MC's last JV game was Jan. 20th - almost 3 weeks with no game and they've only had about 8-10 games this season. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and the rest of the games will be played.
  6. Well played game for both teams. Indians had the lead in the 1st half. MC 19GRC 11 middle of 2nd Qtr., then MC 22 GRC 20 at the half. 3rd Qtr, it was basket for basket, then 4th Qtr, GRC pulled ahead. Really good fan support for both teams. Great atmosphere for a freshman game! Anyone have stats for the Indians?
  7. Montgomery County freshmen are 17-4 on the season this far. That seems like a pretty good record. They beat Mason earlier in the season by around 7 points, then Clark got the win by around that margin a couple of weeks ago. They were missing their point guard and MC was missing one of their starting forwards, 6'2" Ryan Toy, to illness. All 3 freshmen teams (MC, Mason & Clark) seem to be evenly matched with quality players.
  8. I just heard that the game is being broadcast on 1150 am in Mt. Sterling.
  9. Playing a lot of players tonight kept everyone fresh and allowed many to score. If the Indians continue to work on playing team ball and not worrying about individual stats, this team could be a 10th region favorite come March.
  10. The junior class also has Craycraft and Fruth who are quality players.
