  1. Like I said GC football is going to have to pay it's dues. But if football alone raised the money in the next 1-3years and had it installed/maintence. Should the band(high school/middle school), soccer(high school/middle school/grade school), track(shot/discus) and P.E. classes be allowed to use it. Too me it wouldn't be right. I believe that the field turf will happen with or without the board money in the next 1-3years. I also believe football should not have to cater to other sports. Like coupon21 said football is the money maker, it truely is at all levels of sports. In the next couple of years if we're competing with the Russell/Wheelersburg/West Portsmouth/Raceland all four of would bring big crowds year in and year out for revenue and playing in the playoffs. The big thing for GC football is paying it's dues.
  2. I think every parent that talked was worrying about playing. The women that mentioned Mckell having 50players last year, didn't realize that number would be smaller around 30-40kids to each grade. The 7th grade players wouldn't have to cater to the 8th graders. Also they go from 8mins a quater to 12mins(JFL to Middle School). They're going to pass more which would cause the clock to stop. Special Teams(Kickoff & Return, Punt & Return and Field Goals). They're going to learning the High School plays offense and defense which it will be hard for some players to pick up at first. It should be offense of starters should be the defense of backups and the Defense of starters are the offense of backups(22starters and plus special teams). This would have the middle schools competing and be competive in every game.
  3. Yea. The guy from the field turf company estimated around $600,000. 1million over 20years total to install it and up keep. I didn't think it was bad. The olny bad thing was they didn't bring up how much money it would bring in. I would think it would pay for itself overall.
  4. I believe that they'll update the lights, stands, pressbox and Fieldhouse. The field turf will have to wait. I think GC football will have to pay it's due's before they get something like that. I would say a couple of district title's or a regional title and 7-3 or better season's. I look for the field turf in 1-3years.
  5. With Crum's 6'2 frame and watching him play he would could be a really good Strong Safety. But their would have to be some good coaching to help him. Where would Terry Waugh play on defense?
  6. The "Kentucky Middle School Football Association" held a conference at the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic in Louisville this past weekend. 1st annul Middle School State Playoff system was a huge success. It has a bright future with many teams looking to join this up and coming football season. http://www.digitalsports.com/organization/id/1371837.aspx
  7. The first game was the best one overall in the series.
  8. You have Grayson and Kitchen at the DT spots then add Hampton/JJ Caudill to the D-Ends(That's a big LINE). I don't see the Linebackers being touched.
  9. Looks like we'll have the size up front. The QB is job is up for grabs. Any names for the QB spot? Any news on Dustin or Trey coming out?
  10. I don't think you're negative Doc. just somebody that wants to see GC do well. Keep posting. It would be boring without you!:dancingpa
  11. Can you name anymore assistants or did he keep any from last season?
  12. Any date set for the new weightroom?
  13. Any news on the weightroom?
  14. The participation is a big part but getting beat 7 to 8 games out of 10 games get's old. Losing 7 to 8 games a year doesn't bring out many players just look at the high school. I know one grade at each school has more or less players than the other. Which again makes it hard to compete against other teams. With the combining you have a chance competing with bigger schools year in and year out.
  15. If you look at GC's roster from the past 4years you see that they only have around 50players every year and that's Freshmen thru Senior's. I'm sure they would love to have 20players in every grade which would lead them to around 80players for the 4grades. With them combining the middle school's everything will be first class and won't be water'd down. For the 7th and 8th grade next season they'll have around 30 to 40players for each grade. With the JFL growing like it is, I'd say GC will have the numbers in a couple of years.
  16. The biggest thing is that GC wasn't getting hammered by good teams then. The question then would be "If it isn't broke don't fix it". But now GC has been getting hammered the last 4years. It's time for a change and not just a coaching change!
  17. I'd say one of the problems that it was at one end of the county instead of at the high school more so than not having a JFL program.
  18. Does anybody know anything on the field turf? I hear that the middle school 7th & 8th grade will be joining back in the EKC. This would allow them to have a chance to be in the KYMSFA. Which could possible have a middle school state championship. I know Morgan Co. 8th and Ashland Verity 7th grades competed from the area last year.
  19. Just me being around college sports, being a college football player and having a sister that played soccer/track in college. Multiple sports helps a ton with schools looking at you. Kids don't know how hard it is to play and keep up with school in college. College coach's just don't look how well you play and grades. They look at everything you bring to the table. When Craft goes to college and plays one sport, I bet that he'll excel at school and on the field. Eric is not just the only person look at Aaron Pettrey. At the high school age every kid wants to play in college.
  20. The bestest replacement GC will have is Mike Hampton 6'4 265. If he don't get 5yards a carry something is bad wrong. With him at fullback Lyles and who ever is at the other HB spot and QB will have it made! I can see teams putting 9players in the box just to stop the fullback! Bigger than the D-Line with good quickness and feet. IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A MUSKETEER!!!!!!!
  21. I heard the meeting went really well. Sound like everybody agreed on combining the middle schools. The only real issue was the money part and how they was going to do everything. Coach Copely wants everything first class or he don't want to do it. Every person I have talked to has talked very highly about him. He wants the middle school coach's to put in their time with him learning his offense and defense. He wants to be apart of before the middle school and JFL programs.
  22. I know Boyd Co. Middle School had spring ball until couple of years ago.
  23. Sounds like it's going good. Would you think the middle school would have spring ball so it can see how it would work with practice and maybe a game at the end?
  24. Does anybody know who's on the committe?
  25. The 2008 senior's are allowed to be in this?
