TOG...I agree with you on the pitch count with Alford. I thought he was coming out in the fifth? Boone may have some other surprises on the mound.... .Who knows? But I hope we find them soon so the rotation gets set by season end! I didn't comment when you mentioned you had other things to catch up on , but I can relate to that! Baseball season will flat out wear you out! Hustling home fom work to get to the game at 5pm ,then eating a stale hotdog bun at 6pm because you can't take it any longer. Not to mention nothing gets done at home till the weekend! So, I respect the fact you had other things a bit more important that adding comments right away. But you came through!!

After reading the several quotes which are all great and that's what keeps this thing going. But anyone challenging Luke Maile's athletic ability needs to have there head examined. The kid can catch and throw with the best of them and hits the ball a ton. HE WOULDN'T BE GOING TO KENTUCKY IF HE DIDN'T HAVE IT. However he is not the fastest of foot but his other abilities make hima very dangerous player. The TOG mentioned earlier how Luke hit the ball 400 + feet Saturday and not many people do that! He is right! But he was not the only one to hit the ball out over the center feild fence on Saturday. I saw Luke's hit first hand and it was pounded! Now, don't get you pants all tied up because I'm not comparing. I'm just saying we have other good athletes in Northern Kentucky. Also, Oscar questions whether Lokesak and Cotton were D-1 material? I can't speak for Cotton as I don't know anything about his recruiting process. However, I am familiar with Lokesak's. Just to clarify, fiirst of all your opinion is yours and I respect that and it's great that you have a passion for the players reresented on your team. That's the way it should be! With that said, and I'm not taking anything away from any other player because I would love to see this region loaded with great players of the same ability! It only makes our Region more legit! However, As far as Daniel Lokesak's ability He 's had D-1 scouts looking at him since last Spring as a Junior as well as D-II. His summer coach Rob Sanders (Also Bellevues coach) has done a wonderful job in this process as has Matt Wilhoit ( Boones Old coach and now AD at Cooper). This past summer he batted 474 with 8 hr's and an on base percentage of 574. He also stole 46 out of 54 bases. He been timed with a legit 6.5 60 yd dash and 4.5 40yr dash. Missouri timed him in both 60 and 40 in August of 2008. Although he's not being read about or promoted on Bluegrass preps doesn't always mean a kid is not being looked at seriously. Heck, last year he had a great season only to be overshadowed by a well deserving Cory Farris. As of today, he has not decided on a school and he is more concerned about his academic future -where the school has to be a match for him. I also wouldn't go as far to say he's a fluke! Or may cool down just yet! For that could be said about several kids in NK from all teams. I personally follow as much as I can but don't know the inside story on other kids so I don't comment unless it's positive. But again, everyone has an opinion and I do respect peoples opinions. I am a Boone County fan. But also a fan of Northern Kentucky baseball. As for the game yesterday? It's one game in a season that's half over. Boone County made the plays at the right time and hit the ball well to win. CCH is a very good team! But yesterday was a wake up call. I still think they are the pick of the Region IMO. This loss as dumb as it sounds will help them. No harm no foul with any comments from the TOG or OSCAR you guys keep this going. I just wanted to add some facts for a Boone County player.

I stand corrected by TOG. Cottons long ball as in the Cooper game. And it was Hummerick #9 who laid the bunts down. No disrespect to the Covcath faithful was intended. I don't have a score book nor do I keep one but stand corected as I had my games mixed up. Bottom line is this was avery good game by both teams. Boone just came out on top on this one. I usually enjoy TOGS comments and admire his enthusiasm for the Colonels. Why not? they are a great team and don't have tp prove anything. As for the Boone faithful not commenting when they loose? I am only one person and try to say a little something because I too am proud when we win. As for someone stating you did not comment like you used to? I thought they were just joking with you. But to your credit, you did make the very first post stating the loss. Please continue your comments as I find them very interesting and acurate.:isurrender:

Very well played game. Nate Allford pitched for Boone County and other than the second inning where he gave up 3 runs he was very good. Nutini pitched for CCH and Boone hit the ball very well. The Rebels on Defense turned two double plays in the game one of which came in the seventh inning after Maile hit a fastball over the fence. I have few stats to add but not a complete pitcher of game. Daniel Lokesak was 3-4 witha double and two singles. Trevor Dunaway was 2-5 with 2 huge doubles. Nate Alford had two hits as did Nick Hummerick. Luke Sciamannna had double in the sixth which led to another Boone run late in the game. Many great at bats for the Rebels today Brennan Carrol had two great Sacrific Bunts. Ronald Cotton hit a long a ball into the deepest part of left feild. Brian Roberson had a clutch hit as well. Jackson Laurman? had several big scoops at first base. Boones pitching held up well today with Jordan Bryant closing the door in the sixth and seventh inning. It was a very fun game to watch. I was proud of the Rebels hitting today and the total team effort. They beat a very Good Cov Cath team today.

Congrats to the JAGS!! Great win for the kids, the program and Coach Bieger. The jags have gotten better with each outing this year and have some good athletes who are still very young. Tyler Ramey comes to mind right off the top of my head as one of the leaders for the Jags. Congrats!

Boone has two seed games this week. Cov Cath has a very good team and Boone would have to play excellent baseball to walk away with a win. However, Boone will probably IMO save there better pitchers from an already young pitching crew for the Seed games. Boone is not quite as deep with pitchers as Cov Cath nor do they have the experience of an Isler whom IMO is the top dog up here. On the other hand, I see a couple teams up here who have the capability of Knocking anybody off at anytime. Staying undefeated is quite a task! Good luck to all the teams in NKY.

I have allot of respect for Ryles Coach. I'm sure it might have been painful..but...you wont keep good hitters down for long. And ,as I've said earlier, it's early in the season and the bats as well as the teams feilding woes will correct themselves. Your right on the money with the feilding errors. Having a son who plays for Boone I've noticed where each error has led to a run crossing the plate if not two. 3 walks and four errors and just a couple hits will hurt any team.

I agree Boones Base running miscues took them out of two big innings. However, Ludlow also had two dropped balls in the out feild. Both teams seemed to shoot themselves in the foot. Ludlow's feilding and failure to get the runs across the plate hurt them. It just wasn't pretty to watch. No disrespect to Ludlow. They were down 8-2 at one point and really fought back hard. They hit the ball well but two many costly errors. Coach Stamm is doing all the right things in getting the kids minds ready to play. I like the fact that Ludlow never quit!

I was not aware it was a seed game for Ludlow. However, Ludlow probably could have beaten Villa without using Hammond. I was impressed with Williamson who came in relief for 3 innings against Boone. But again, winning a seeding game is more important than beating Boone. I agree.

This doesn't sound like a typical Ryle Team? 11-1 Did TC just hit the ball that much or did Ryle help the cause with untimely errors in the feild? Scoring 1 run surpises me a bit since I know the kids who play. Did you go to game?

Boone 11 Ludlow 8. Boone scored first and Ludlow responded with 2. Boone then jumped up 5 -2 and the 8-2. Leaving runners stranded and some poor base running. Ludlows pItchers did a nice job but feilding hurt then badly allowing Boone to score on should be outs. Ludlow came back with a 3 run Homer by Betz which was well struck to center feild. Congrats to him! Ludlow pulled the score to 11-8 in the 6th inning but Boones pitchers and feilding closed the door. Well played game by the Panthers.

Boone has been playing well and it might be too early to try to argue the rankings. Not many teams have had a solid week of play with the rain outs. The pitchers have the advantage at this point. Lets wait another week or so and see what happens.

Jags is right! A couple plays here and there and it would have been much closere. Congrats to Tyler Raney. He hit a nice ball over the center feild fence. Cooper is a good team. But suffers with depth in pitching as does the Boone County Rebels. I like the Short Stop fro Coper he played a great game. Cooper will win more games as the season goes on. The young arms and the young players in the feild will get better. Coach Bieger is a great teacher of the game.

I would agree being up 10 at the time and stealing would be an issue. His coach should have called off the dogs and just told all runners to stay put. But they didn't. I beleive this was the 4th inning whenthis happened. I can remember just a couple weeks ago when Boone was up 9 to 1 in the 6th inning and lost?? Bottom line is his coach should have stepped up and not allowed this to happen. The palyer did go over and talk to coach Bieger and apologise for stealing. I don't think laying this on the player is the right thing to do, if you dont tell them to stop stealing bases. Throttling down an athlete is hard to do. Trust me when I tell you his parents have coached him on how to handle in the future.

Iwasn't at the game. I was only trying to make sense of the play. I understand now why it played out the way it did. But from a parents perspective i want to retract my question to Cooperstown in regards to his opinion on the play. I have a son who plays as do many of us. The question asked was not a fair question in asking to comment on another player.

I wasn't at this game but it sounds like maybe the ball was misplayed in right feild in the first inning? Should it have been caught? Cooperstown, you usually have a fair assessment, what's your thoughts on this? I understand why the runner couldn't advance though!

I'm surprised Ludlow pitched Hammonds against Villa? Boone will probably pitch Lauman today? Ludlow is playing very good baseball right now. I like what Coach Stamm is doing with the program this early in the season. I'm not much on predictions only to say Ludlow will probably need to score often. Boone County has been consistent in the 8-12 runs per game scoring. Good luck to My Alma mater! :lol:

Boone won the first game 7-3. Solid defense by both teams. Boone jumped out early on this one. Trevor Dunaway had a double and Luke Sciamanna had another nice day at the plate going 2 for 3 with a 2 bagger. Boone 15- Cooper 4. Boone jumped out early again and never looked back. Solid defense by Sciamanna at third shut down Coopers chances for Big inninings. Jordan Bryant got the win for Boone on the Hill. Daniel lead the way with a 4 for 4 performance with 2 doubles and 7 stolen bases. Brennan Carroll was 3 for 3 and a clutch double in the Second inning. Nate Alford was 2 for 2 and Luke Sciamanna was 2 for 3 with a HR. Boone is now 8-1.

A low strike zone doesn't bother me as long as the umpire is consistent throughout the game. This way hitters know where the strike zone is and Pitchers can select pitches based on the current strike zone of the day!

Thanks for the clarification. I really think had the umpire been watching the player at third he would have called him out! But again, I don't think he saw it and I know they can't see everything all the time.

mcpapa was also right in saying the play picked Mason up! They did come to life after that! Boone subbed out pitchers and closed off the comeback. Mason County's shortstop and second baseman made several outstanding plays in the infeild as well.

What happened on this play as I was 20 feet away from 3rd base was this: Mason had a player on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. The runner from first tries to steal second and is thrown out. The runner on third base ( obviously thinking it was the third out) takes his helmet off and slams it down ( not a toss, but a slam where it takes two big bounces). He then starts to walk towards the dugout and his coach who is visibly upset with his player gets him back on third base. There he stood with no helmet? The Boone coaches question why he is not out? The umpire said that the runner thought it was the third out and the runner did not take his helmet off out of frustration? What? you've got to be kidding me? The young man slammed this helmet to the ground in frustration at the time the ball was still in play then went back and stood on third base without a helmet? Anyway, I dont have a rule book but the umpire later told me as he was reading his book and said " I got that one right"? I said which one? The play at third? He said; if the player unknowingly takes his helmet off thinking it was a third out and not out of frustration that its a warning. If its out of frustration..then he is out? I asked him; " Did you see the play"? He didnt answer? So I responded by saying well you guys did a good job! Because other than that call both umps called a good game. I'm sure Masons coach had a few coaching points for his runner at third. Also, I don't think this game was in jeapody. Mason scored off a well hit home run and a couple here and there. Boone did leave some men on base and hit the ball well. Let me say again..the umpires may have missed this one but overall they were very good.
