  1. I think the discussion re: the Boyle/ Bourbon game has become a little mundane, the poll results kind of tell the story. Boyle has a great defense and the 85 Bears had a great defense. Any thoughts on this battle, fyi, Bears would be playing with a mini Ditka coaching them and not the regualr size Ditka. :jump:
  2. Agreed. Bourbon played a very appropriate schedule, look for good things ahead.
  3. Christian Co., Lexington Catholic & Lafayette are much better than their records indicate. Boyle Co.'s opponents combined record does not tell the story re: the strength of their schedule. While Danville & Rockcastle Co. don't have great records they are quality oponents. Boyle Co. has played a much tougher schedule than the Colonels.
  4. Understood. Like I said in my previous post I am just a fan. If I was going to go Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso and analyze the game I would probably have to put on a Boyle County Rebel head, but I am not analyzing the game, just hoping that someway or somehow the Colonels can pull off the huge upset. It is not a science experiment, I do not have to explain or give a hypothesis on my vote, I took the statement to mean that why would anyone vote for Bourbon County, which I found condescending. Much like many of us UK fans that attended the UK/FL or UK/BAMA football game, if you had to explain why the CATS were going to win in order to attend the game, Commonwealth would have been sparsely populated. My take is that Boyle County is really good and it will take an Herculean effort by the Colonels to keep this game competive. That being said, GO COLONELS.
  5. I agree with your analysis, but not sure running clock = respectable.
  6. I voted for Bourbon County because I am a fan of Bourbon County & Paris High School athletics; I appreciate the young men and women that compete for their respective schools. I am aware that Boyle County has a really good 4A team that is highly, highly favored favored over the Colonels. That being said I am hoping that the Colonels play lights out and pull off the upset. While Boyle County is very good, it is not like they are St. Thomas Aquinas High School, don't get to full of yourself. A really bad clairvoyant can envision tough Fridays ahead with Lex. Cath & Bell Co for the Rebels.
  7. Congrats to Danville, nice win.Still impressed with the Panthers no team could have been bitten more by the injury bug than FHS, but they continue to keep plugging, good luck to both teams in the playoffs.
  8. My side kick Percy Peabody has informed me that I misspelled angry and quieting above, sorry for the mishap.
  9. Bourbon County High School or Vocational School as it was once called is over 60 years old.
  10. Johnny Poynter leads his beat up and angy group of Colonels into the Greyhound Kennel for a shooting match with J.J. Everage's Pack of Drool Hounds. The Colonel Army has owned the K-9s of late, while the Hounds think its about time to sink their teeth into them old Colonels. Everage's Hounds are angry after the stinging they got from the jackets and want Colonel hide in revenge, a win over little brother at historic Blanton Collier Stadium would go a long way in quiting the bark of some of the old retired hounds, but the Colonels are angry too after the clawing they got last week and will get the job done. Leonard's Loser? Paris
  11. Great job. Congrats to the young men and Coach Poynter and staff.:thumb:
  12. Why would Bourbon County want to play Trimble Co. or vice versa, they have a 18.6 Cantrall Rating, are a Class A school that is located an hour and a half from Paris. How does playing Trimble Co. get your kids ready to compete against district foes like Holmes, Harrison County, Franklin County & Pendelton County, not to mention region foes like Lex. Cath & Boyle Co. No disrespect to Trimble County in any way, but there is a classification system in place and a class AAAA school playing a middle of the pack or lower class A school does not make sense. Bourbon hammered Estill & Casey and then got throttled by Mason, a Bourbon/Trimble match-up would do nothing for either program other than settle some petty debate among grown-ups. If Bourbon wants to compete in class AAAA, scheduling Trimble County does not help accomplish that objective.
  13. The 5 wins in 5 years is a little misleading and over used. Bourbon won three games last season and returned 5 senior linemen and a very talented back field. They played a soft schedule this season and I think most expected 5-6 wins.
  14. I just liked the quote. But I guess looking at Paris' anemic offensive output and the Colonels recent struggles, maybe it is in fact appropriate to describe both offenses.
  15. "Not so fast my friend", the Colonels win, but closer than people think. Corso: "Beep, Beep, Beep" Herbstreit: "Huh? Lee, what are you doing?" Corso: "I'm telling everyone that this offense is going in reverse"
  16. Probably about like the Colonels. They need weather made for an Arc for this one.
  17. Good point. I belive Bourbon lost three starting lineman the week of Harrison County. Not many teams could lose three starting linemen and be able to compete against a good team. Also the Colonels have played 11 straight weeks counting scrimmages, they have not really had an open week. I would venture to guess that they are a tired team. Have to also give Coach Poynter credit he always knows when to call on the TE for a big play, keep it up. GO COLONELS.:thumb:
  18. Those stats seemed to indicate a balanced attack. A team that has a running attack can be extremely successful playing at a high level as long as they execute and have a balanced running game. Bourbon has run in the A, B or C gap 95 percent of the time. Very few sweeps, no option, boot or counter just isolation and maybe an occasional trap. Maybe they can't run the option or the sweep. I do know they have recently began throwing to the TE. No need for anyone to get up and arms, Bourbon has improved. Early on they were sucessful as they got more base looks, recently they have faced opponents that sold out to stop the run and the Colonels have been unable to adjust.
