I coached against this kid two years ago when he was an 8th grader and he could have started for 75% of the high schools in this state then. Best middle school QB I've ever seen. Rowan County has a good soph quarterback as well, and the Arthur kid at Boyd County is playing behind a senior QB but should be a good one down the road too.

Kendrick is a sophomore.

This isn't the case, there are only 3 district games leaving 7 other games to schedule anyone you want. As FB15G8 said, it's a rivalry game and they'll play it every year. Class your in doesn't really matter either. Montgomery plays Rowan every year and they're 4A.

Anyone have any predictions/insights on what kind of season the Engineers will have this year? Last year was pretty good other than the Breathitt games and I think Estill returns the bulk of their team.

Rowan is extremely young but based on what I coached against with them in middle school their freshman and sophomore classes should be very talented. This will be a rough year most likely but Rowan should be a lot better the next two seasons. Bath lost a lot with Clemons last year but return most of their starters and should be decent but I still think 3rd is the best they'll do in their district behind Prestonburg and Shelby Valley. Bath's freshman and sophomore classes are fairly week so they need to have a decent year this year.

I agree that the coaches at Montgomery need to work together to encourage kids to play multiple sports, you'll lose more good athletes than you'll keep if you insist they put your sport first at all times. I know for a fact Coach Gooch has discouraged kids from playing baseball due to spring practice,which is a shame. Coach Combs doesn't discourage kids from playing football due to fallball practice for baseball. It goes both ways.

The Rec. Bowl has had trouble over the last 10 years or so getting quality teams to come and play in it, plus Montgomery has been down for a while and didn't even play in the bowl themselves several years. I agree, they should have picked a different opponent since they play Clark every year anyway since it's a rivalry game.

If Wilson plays fearless and doesn't worry about the shoulder, and Boyd gets improved play out of their D-line, BC 21 EC 7.
