  1. I agree about FC coasting a bit in the second half. Their defensive coverages were softer in the second half. And while they may have lost some defensive intensity in the second half, there was no drop off on offense. Fort Campbell couldn't run time off the clock because they were scoring so quick.

That is what I was trying to point out to the Corbin fan. The game was over long before the clock expired. OC was able to pad the stats and end their season on a respectable note, but that is all there was to it.

  2. Hard to believe Ft. Campbell gave up 35 in one half, especially considering they had only gave up 89 before this game...

Fort Campbell was in the coast mode, (probably too soon), don't take too much from the final score. The game was not as close as the 13 point difference may suggest. I think we got a little bored with OC and started thinking about Mornroe County about a quarter too early. The players probably got too lax and I am sure they will pay for it in practice.

  3. An honest assessment of the Fort Campbell program by Owensboro Catholic Head Coach John Edge. Check this article out and see where he rates FC compared to 5A powers Bowling Green and Owensboro and 6A Daviess Co. Just so you know; OC and FC do not like each other much at all, so Coach Edge's opinion should serve as an attention getter in N. Kentucky.

  4. This game is going to be a good one to watch. I'm pretty sure that it will be one sided (in favor of Ft. Campbell of course) but OC alwayse shows up and puts on a good game. I kind of would have like to seen Tigg come to FC. I was away at college for their last meeting in FC and didnt get the chance to come home to see the game. Wow, it really would be great to see that; It would be at FC too which means You wouldn't have to listen to a full four Quarters of announcing by someone that doesn't know their you know what from a Kentucky High School or a Tennessee High School. Nor would you have to worry about refs that get FC players ejected from the game (yes that was me back in 07, lol). Oh, and you would not have to come across an opinionated article not written in the op-ed section of The Cadiz Record telling about the results of the game. Yes indeed, It would be a good game to see, but none the less FC v. OC is going to be a great show.

    FC wins 31-7

I remember the Trigg public address announcer and his comments, unbelieveable. He, the officials, and the Trigg players were having a hard time dealing with a 59 - 7 beat-down on their home turf.

  5. I wasn't downing FC's ability to bring home another state title what so ever. I'm just saying that I believe they are a great team and would like to see them toughin it up a little, see who they can roll with. With that said, I think they are a very good team who have a very very good chance of winning state again. And I also look forward to seeing their schedule improve in the future and see what they are made of. Goodluck FC.

I understand what you are saying and I agree 100% with you on the need to strengthen the schedule. No offense intended from me to you. Have a great Thanksgiving and good luck to your team also!

  6. I agree with NKU above me, so FC scores alotta points..who have they played? NCC's schedule is way way more challenging than FC's.

Therefore, easier teams= more points.. get me?;)

You are beating a dead horse on strength of schedule; I agree with you! FC is in a District which includes Todd County, Hancock County and they can't change that. Because of tradition, FC will not break free of the Army Bowl with Ft. Knox, which is easier than a practice scrimmage. Paducah Tilghman and Mayfield both were ranked high in the early polls, but failed to perform on the field.

Nobody in Western KY has had more postings on BGP about FC increasing their strength of schedule than me. The schedule will improve starting next season. I believe we will have Hopkinsville, a big school from Evansville, IN and Kenwood from Clarksville, TN and possibly a school from Nashville, TN.

That being said, for anybody to under estimate Fort Campbell's championship caliber football program two years in a row would be sheer folly. History does have the capability of repeating itself.

  7. As SEMPERFIFALCON stated: Monroe has Bar-B-Que that people travel hours to eat! When you get ready to come to us just PM and any of us will give you directions to some of the best locally owned eateries in the county. All of which are family owned and operated and would love for you to take some back to your home towns to tell everyone about our little place on the map!!

As for football, if you play us you better be at the field early or it might get crowded at Darrel Carter Stadium. Monroe has a huge fan base, basically the entire community gets behind our Falcons, we live through our children now and support them to no end. But everyone we welcome, just ask anyone about Monroe's hospitality!!!;)

It sounds like you have an awesome community! Hopefully your Falcons and our Falcons can get it done on the field this Friday night. Since FC has to travel for the semi-final, Monroe County sounds like the place to visit.

  8. This is a completely different NewCath team from last year's. This team has had a little issue w/ fumbles, but not w/ untimely penalties. If you remember last year, NewCath shot themselves in the foot at the 5 w/ a penalty and it wound up costing them as they tossed an int on third and goal. This year's running game is light years ahead of last years. I can't remember the last time that NewCath only threw the ball 7 times in a playoff game and still won 42-14. On top of that, their special teams have been very good w/ the exception of last week's kick off return. They've blocked numerous punts and Nate Rawe is as exciting of a kick/punt returner as you'll find. Add in the fact that Ferrara is starting to find his legs and you have two very dangerous return men. I don't know enough about Ft. Campbell this year besides they started the year hot, their QB got hurt and they hit a lull, and now are playing well again in the playoffs. All I know is that NewCath is a much tougher team mentally this year, and I expect them to play very well against DeSales. From there we'll see.

No doubt the 'Breds are solid! My posting was in response to the comment regarding NCC repeating this year just like last year. Had to point out that NCC isn't the defending champ and when they did win their most recent title in '06 they were a 1A team.

Should Fort Campbell be fortunate enough to play in the title game, you will see a team that is different from last year's squad. They are the fastest, most explosive offensive team in 2A - not just a couple of players, but a host of players. (541 points scored, the most in 2A) On Defense, they have given up a measly 89 points through 12 games, a considerable portion of them allowed by the JV team. (Least amount of points given up in 2A)

Fort Campbell has not lost to a 2A team since the playoffs in November 2006 to Trigg County. (Two years - no 2A losses)

  9. So, you are agreeing that NCC will have the same results this year as they did last year? And the year before that as well?

I am exactly saying that if Fort Campbell and the 'Breds play in the championship it will be the same result as last year. Please check the official records for the 2007 2A champs - I am pretty sure you will see Ft. Campbell listed as champs and the 'Breds as runner-up. When I walked out of Papa John's the final was FC 21 - NCC 7, zero time left on the clock.

  10. I am going with the Rockets at home in a close one. I will be cheering for the winner of this game to go the rest of the way in the playoffs. If I wasn't going to the Fort Campbell vs. O Cath game, I would make the drive to Marion to watch this one. It could be one of the best playoffs games this year in any class.

  11. Falcons by at least three TDs.

The Falcons will not be looking past the Aces on Friday night. The Seniors on this team were Freshman in '05 when OC upset a Micah Johnson led Falcon team, that by far had the most talent of any team in 2A.

Other than the state championship, there isn't a more meaningful game for the Falcons than OC. There is still a lot of unhappy memories from past playoff runs, which were abruptly ended by OC. I look for the Falcons to exact some sweet payback in this game.

  12. Once again, I got to listen to the game. It sounded as if Coach Berner had a really good gameplan, and they clearly outplayed Murray. Thier defense was just too fast and strong for Murray (even the oversized line).

I was thrilled to hear the radio guys call #73 a few times.

Lookin' forward to listening to the OC game, regardless of the previous game in the regular season, OC is always a tough opponent.

    Later.

You have as nice a Thanksgiving as possible in Afghanistan and stay safe!! I think you will be happy with what you hear on the radio next Friday night.

Coach Berner and his staff had the wishbone covered. Murray should have known that three yards and a cloud of dust, (actually frozen dirt), wouldn't keep pace with the Falcons.
