Pulling for Mayfield in this one.
-
Monroe keeps rolling in this one

Antino Andrews from Fort Campbell is overlooked way to often IMO. One of the best athletes in the state.
I also think Collinsworth from Highlands is the best player in the state and maybe on the best team.
But my vote would go to Channing Fugate from Breathitt County. No other player in the state means more to his team than Fugate IMO.
Antonio Andrews is way overlooked, but should be in every conversation about Mr. Football!

Playtracker: Great picture! I believe you were at FC scouting CPA for the upcoming LCA game in Nashville, but what did you think about the Falcons? Not bad for a small 2A school?
-
Great Job FC!!

Kenwood will be the second of three wins against Tennessee schools this season.
Kenwood is an undisciplined program which will probably have as many penalty yards against them as they do positive offense yards for them.
The key to this game will be for FC Coach Shawn Berner to recognize the proper time for his key players to exit the field and move to the sideline. We may not need to see Antonio Andrews after mid-second quarter. FC will blow Kenwood apart in all facets of the game and score as many points as desired. At some point, Kenwood will get tired of playing football and could possibly resort to other desires on their agenda.

Thoughts on this one.
LCA plays @ CPA in Nashville, TN this Friday. ETA for LCA into TN will be 6 PM. KO will be @ 7:30.
O-line & D-line for LCA have improved from '08. I have it on the QT that the DBs are much improved.
If the Eagles win, either QB Witt or RB Hayden (D-train) or some other Sr. should be BMOC.
Submit your predictions PDQ; & If you go, be sure to RSVP.
I don't know anything about LCA, but just watched CPA play Fort Campbell last Friday. Don't let the 55 points they gave up to FC fool anybody, CPA is a quality team. FC is just on a different level right now.
LCA better be ready to defend the pass because they threw 53 attempts against FC. CPA does not seem to want to run the ball or at least they didn't try much against FC. CPA is a well disciplined team that will try to dink and dunk the ball down the field with little 5yd pass plays and then run out of bounds to stop the clock. They have zero game changing performers, just a complete team of sound football players.
I would have to pick CPA in this one for no other reason then it is a home game for them. They won't be making the long bus ride from Lex to Nashville.

Fort Knox comes to FC on 11 September for the Army Bowl. Both teams would probably get more out of a bye then playing eachother. FC should have plenty of underclassmen gaining experience on the field for the majority of the evening.
-
It is the responsibility of the team calling the play to mask, disguise, deceive, decoy and protect the play being called. It is not an ethical dilemma to recognize a play call or signal or for anybody to transmit the knowledge, but part of the game. Upgrade the play calling method so it is more covert.

Looks like another long year for the Eagles.

Expectations for Danville this year are very high. I don't think they lost much quality, even though some quantity might be gone. This could be the best Danville team in five years.
I bet your opinion of Danville is different after tonight.
-
I was a little surprised to see Danville and Green Co. above Monroe, all three lost quite a bit but it seems Monroe was the only one that dropped while Green and Danville rose...
After tonight, you shouldn't be ranked below Danville! Green County; just continue what you guys did twice last year against them and all will be right again.
-
Great job Monroe County Falcons!
-
If FT Campbell stays healthy this team is unstoppable, can we get the Falcons to play Highlands for an overall state title this year?
Now that would be an interesting matchup!
Great game tonight at FC; perfect weather, classy opponent, nice win.

FalconBacker - you may well be right, as far as FC's ranking. Honestly, I wouldn't place FC in the top 5 - perhaps top 10 - but I can't deny they're a heckuva team and one that can hold its own with most of the teams in the state. But looking at individual team rankings in the MaxPreps list isn't my point. I still don't believe that MaxPreps has a clue. Anybody can come up with a list of good teams - and getting a list of good teams is pretty simple, even from a distance.
Hence my reference to Hazard, KY - pick any town in KY - as a sort of tongue-in-cheek poke at the fact that MaxPreps isn't here in KY for their "assessment" of KY teams...
I just don't think that MaxPreps has the insight that BGP has, because they aren't here.
ColonelMike: I agree with your view! BGP is the true standard.

Mayfield will make the big school look small in this one.

I am interested in seeing Josh Carter's replacements on the Falcon Defense. I think the Falcon speed will overcome the Lions and win a hard fought season opener. Falcons by 12.
There is a replacement, 6'3" 245lbs., and Nasty. He spent some time eating Christian County RBs in the backfield last Friday. No free scouting report here, just come and see for your self. #54

Max Preps must have put Highlands on top and pulled the rest out of a hat.
I agree with colonel Mike.
Max Preps has Ft. Campbell #5 in the state
1) Back to Back 2A Champs
2) Only lost 6 starters from last year
3) Mr Football candidate Antonio Andrews at QB
4) The football team won the State Track & Field Championship last May in Louisville, just for fun.
5) FC defeated the #12 ranked team in the Nation at the Vanderbilt 7 on 7 last month. (Memphis University High School)
6) FC defeated 5A runner-up Christian County in the FC Jamboree last Friday night. (19-0) The game would have gotten out of hand if FC would have had another half to stack points on the scoreboard.
Maybe, just maybe, FC is pretty close to top 5 at least top 10.

I remember him being an impact player on defense two years ago. He made several big plays in the playoff game against Bardstown that impressed me.
It was Antonio's brother Olin Andrews that you remember in the Bardstown game. Antonio was a sophomore in '07 and spent most of his time leading the JV team at QB to an undefeated season.
-
He may have been on back to back championship teams, but C.J. Kropf was the quarterback the first year, so it may not of had the impact you all are talking about, not trying to take anything away from him. And I was in Iraq, so I am not sure how much he played in that game.
C.J. Croft was the QB in '07, (second team All-State). Antonio Andrews did not play any QB in that title game. As a matter of fact, his brother Olin Andrews was a bigger contributor to the team in '07. There was a lot of worry as to who would step up and replace the irreplaceable C.J. Croft, an honor student in the classroom and tough three year starter at QB.
Then along came a pleasant surprise named Antonio Andrews. Last year was his first year as a starting QB; just think what he will accomplish this year with a complete grasp of the QB position.

I know all about Owensboro Catholic ... that's why I said "maybe" even though Murray beat them last year.
Yes, Murray did win during the regular season, but O'Cath, as usual showed up for the playoffs, advancing to the Regional title game. I watched FC eliminate both teams and O'Cath was easily better than Murray when it counted in the playoffs.
-
If Madisonville is as good as the talk from there says they are, they should win the game. Murray is a pretty solid 2A team, maybe even the best in the west aside from Fort Campbell.
Don't ever forget about the 2A team in Owensboro; they somehow always show up for the playoffs.
I am going with Madisonville in this one.

Only two hours to go. Headed to the game to see Mr. Football Antonio Andrews run wild on another Tennessee school.
