  1. I don't think CPA will be undisciplined, most private schools provide a pretty structured environment. CPA has a decent QB, a receiver with some size, & Titan's Coach Jeff Fisher's son as a DB, (is he good or does he just have a last name??). I expect them to be fundamentally sound, but too slow to keep up with the Falcons.

FC is not only pretty decent at football, but most of the football players made up the track team which won the KY state track championship this past Memorial Day weekend in Louisville. Documented burners, not just hype about being fast.

Ft. Campbell gets its first of three wins this season against Tennessee teams.

  2. Good early season match-up... Maybe the two best in the west this year.. Rafferty's Bowl at WKU on Saturday.

Best in the west this year????

You must not be keeping up with current events. Ft. Campbell just blanked Christian County on Friday night in the FC Jamboree 19 - 0. 70 yard TD pass from Antonio Andrews on the first play of the scrimmage, was all it took to break the 5A runner-ups. A first round knock-out! Delivered by the Back-to-Back 2A Champs. It would have gotten out of control if Ft. Campbell would have had another half to put points on the board.

I am going with Christian County in this one against Bowling Green; the Colonels are our neighbors.

  3. One last post for Antonio Andrews, since there is a lot of reference to 7 on 7 in this thread.

In July FC was invited to the Vanderbilt 7 on 7 passing tournament and advanced deep into the tournament. Today as I looked at the Maxpreps National rankings, I couldn't help but notice Memphis University High School ranked 12th in the Nation.

Guess which team in the tournament sent the 12th ranked team in the Nation packing: The 2A State Champs from Western KY, The Fort Campbell Falcons

If you ask the 12th ranked team in the Nation who is the best QB in Kentucky, they would probably say - "Antonio Andrews"

  4. Not taking anything away from Andrews, because I've seen him in a few games and know he is an outstanding player, but if he had not been on back-to-back state championship teams, he would have had a much more difficult time getting noticed.

You are exactly right, no dig on Antonio taken. The fact is that the KY press doesn't cover much of anything that happens in Western KY, especially at the 2A level. To get noticed by a Lexington newspaper speaks volumes about how far FC football has come. The majority of the media coverage is on NKY, Louisville, & Lexington, which is understandable because that is where the KY population base lives.

FC football started getting on the map with Marcus McClinton going to UK followed by Micah Johnson the next year along with Leonard Gordon to Notre Dame. I believe that 2006 is the only season FC hasn't had an All-State player since McClinton broke through the barrier.

Antonio is for real, no hype with him. He will be playing at the D1 level next season - just may not be at QB. Glad you got the opportunity to see Antonio play; we will miss him after this season.

  5. I watched both play in person & tend to agree with the scribe. Willis is better on the offensive side of the ball & can be lined up at numerous position. However, I had much rather have Johnson on my team & let him play defense.

Willis an All-American at any position??? Huge difference between documented accomplishments, Micah, and unrealized potential, Willis.

A lot of rumors at the FC Jamboree last night about the whereabouts of Willis. Iam not going to print any of the disparaging talk about Willis, wouldn't be proper. I will say that nobody believed he was back in Murray helping little old ladies cross the street. Do you see where this is going??

  6. Willis is a stud on both sides of the football. Johnson is a better defensive player, but I think Willis is slightly better on offense than Micah was. Interesing comparison.

You seriously think Willis is better in any aspect of the game compared to an All SEC athlete and possible first round NFL draft choice? This is a roll-up of Micah's High School career taken right from the UK website. I don't believe that when this season ends that the list of accomplishments for Willis will be 1/4 of Micah's.

    Micah Johnson

  7. I'm pretty sure Willis is out for the first two games but will return in week three. The Lakers lost a lot from last year

I was really wanting to see him tonight. There have been comparisons between Willis and Micah Johnson. I didn't believe them, only one Micah, just wanted to see Willis for myself.

  8. Combined score of 38-7; not a bad evening for the Falcons. Antonio Andrews' 70 yard TD pass to Moreno on the first play of the scrimmage with Christian County was demoralizing for the Colonels. (2008 5A Runner-up)

The defense was exceptional, only score was given up by the reserves late in the first scrimmage.

Would have liked RB Troy Turner to get in the mix a little more, but no need to show all the weapons in a scrimmage.

Calloway County's 6' 3" 256 lb RB Tyrrell Willis was a disappointing no-show. The Lakers are pretty sorry with out him in the game.

  9. I have watched some contact practices and I am as undecided and uncertain as I was prior to the start of summer camp. After some looks, you hope to get a feel about a team one way or the other. Not here. What I see: withering team speed; an unnerving number of incomplete passes; an untested DL; and a whole lot of hard work and attention being given to special teams. I think the Aug. 21 Hoptown game will be a bellwether for several reasons, most notably signaling if there is a need to start updating coaching resumes.

The updating of coaching resumes is probably very accurate. Thought there would have been a complete house cleaning of the staff after last season. Plenty of good athletes in the cupboard every year at PT.

  10. Well he has my vote.

Fort Campbell Senior QB Antonio Andrews

2008 Stats: 1771 Rushing Yards, 27 Rushing TDs / 1698 Passing Yards, 22 Passing TDs

Not to take anything away from the Bluebird QB, but there is proof of ability listed above for Antonio Andrews. The Bluebird QB apparently hasn't started a big boy game and only has one TD credit in his varsity career. Don't know how that compares to Andrews and 49 combined TDs last season coupled with 3,469 yards of total offense.

Is the NKY hyperbole getting a little out of control?

Antonio Andrews for Mr. Football this Season!!

Not an offer yet, but the Vanderbilt coaching staff has Andrews on their radar.

  11. As an NewCath fan, I will take this kid over any kid in NKY, if you are looking for a player to make an impact for his team and take a game over. Passing wise, he is behind West and Bardo. However, as a playmaker, he is very, very special.

P.S. everyone in NKY knows how good Ft. Campbell has been and will be this year. No need to use the "lowly 2A" stuff. Your school has this area's respect, trust me.

Point taken in your P.S., Thanks! Just trying to keep an outstanding player from a small school in the conversation with the big boys.

  12. Since the starting thread included the entire state, here is a QB from a lowly 2A school in Western Kentucky.

Fort Campbell Senior QB Antonio Andrews

2008 Stats: 1771 Rushing Yards, 27 Rushing TDs / 1698 Passing Yards, 22 Passing TDs

Please reference the highlight film of the 2008 2A Championship game against NCC for documented proof of his ability against a heralded NKY football program.

He is a dual threat - scary good like former West Virginia QB Pat White. Made quite an impression on the coaching staff at the Vanderbilt 7 on 7 passing tournament.

Any serious conversation about Mr. Football in Kentucky this year should at the very least include Antonio Andrews.

  13. QUOTE=FalconBacker;3473432]I wish Monroe County Falcons the best of luck this year, at least all the way up to the semi-final. I would then have to cheer for the FC Falcons. Your program is a class act and our trip to Tompkinsville last year was awesome.

I hope you bury Green County in the regular season, playoffs, back-yard games, alley fights etc...!!!

Go Falcons!! (Fort Campbell & Monroe)

I wish Fort Campbell Falcons the best of luck this year, at least all the way up to the semi-final. I would then have to cheer for the MC Falcons. I look forward to a trip to Fort Campbell later this fall.

By the way, I hope you go up to Owensboro and bury Catholic in the regular season, playoffs, back-yard games, alley fights etc...!!!!

Then tell Coach Edge this is from the Falcons!!!!!! Fort Campbell & Monroe County :taz:

We are looking forward to the trip to O'Cath this season! It took FC a few years to finally get past the Aces in the playoffs so we never under estimate them.

I know Coach Edge didn't enjoy the bus ride back to Owensboro either of the two times O'Cath visited FC last season.

    Thanks for the support!

  14. Fort Campbell (D1) players and the year they graduated FC.

Marcus McClinton (05) University of Kentucky

Micah Johnson (06) University of Kentucky

    Leonard Gordon (06) Notre Dame

    Orlando Misaalefua (06) Western Kentucky

    Zach Rhinestine (08) Western Kentucky

    Josh Carter (09) Western Kentucky

Marcus was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Patriots this year, but has been released. He is currently living in Lexington and attempting to make an NFL team during the preseason.

Micah could be a 1st round pick next April, just needs to avoid the injury bug this year.

  15. Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. The prayer warriors were out in full force at the Vandy Childrens Hospital.

Tim was a wonderful boy that was growing into a caring young man. He gave 110% on the field and was very proud to be a Fort Campbell Falcon, his infectious personality struck a chord on every team mates heartstrings. Tim's cell phone text chime is ringing off of the hook with words from his teammates and friends from school.

We love Tim with all of our heart and it was the most difficult thing we've had to go through.

I will post more information regarding arrangements for those that might be in the area and might want to stop by.

    In Him,

    Bill

Bill, you and your family are in the thoughts and prayers of everyone in the FC community. May the Lord give you comfort and peace in this time of grief.
