  1. Before tonight's game Rees MacShara had 35 carries for 620 yards and 9 tds(per the Danville Advocate Messenger).

After tonight's game he has 43 carries for 841 yards and 13 tds. Boyle County is still undefeated and he has yet to play a whole game despite being the focal point of the offense.

    His averages to date........

    19.6 yards per carry

    1 td every 3.3 carries.

He is also the starting cornerback on defense, but I am not privy to his defensive stats. I do know he has an interception return for a td.

Besides Antonio Andrews, who else would be the front runners for Mr. Football after this week? Especially after Fugate's 3rd below average performance in a row, Collinsworth didn't play tonight and Simpson's team lost tonight?

Should we start a new thread every week to follow the Mr. Football race with a new poll added?

The cream is starting to rise to the top as the season moves along. The true contender is separating from the pretenders. If you look at the votes on the poll, there are some that probably need to reconsider their vote. This is about Mr. Football 09, it doesn't really matter if somebody had 3,000 plus yards rushing last year. It is not a contest to determine the most popular football player in NKY either. Antonio Andrews is Mr. Football

  2. After four games, these are Antonio Andrews stats:

    31/50 passing (62%), 511 yards, 8 TDs, 1 INT

    36 rushes, 381 Yards, 10.58 YPC, 8 TDs

    3 PATs

99 total points (passing, rushing, PATs) [51 points rushing & PATs]

6 Solo Tackles, 2 Assisted Tackles

Not to bad considering he may have played about two games total time, Coach Berner does a good job of getting the younger guys in the game thanks to the high scoring offense and the defense (usually early in the 3rd quarter, if not sooner)

If Antonio was allowed to play for stats, there would be almost no limit to what he could achieve. If he were to focus on one thing, like most of the statistical players, he would dominate in that one area. It doesn't matter if it was at DB, RB, QB, or WR. He is Mr. Football, not just Mr. Good at only one statistical aspect of the game.

  3. All the rhetoric aside.

How does any raking, computer, voter, etc... rank a team who hasn’t lost to a 2A team since November 3rd, 2006, and is the two time defending champions in their class ranked 15th???? Come on! Fort Campbell is like 30-3 over the last three years! Completely ridiculous. I would be embarrassed to publish this crap. 15th with almost half of 2A ranked above them?? Come on! I can’t believe they actually published it.

FC: You have already stated all that really matters! I know where the 07 & 08 2A Championship trophies are kept and also have a pretty good idea where the 09 trophy is going!! Lets move on to something else.

  4. Great explanation LN. I like the new format and location. From the perspective of a Fort Campbell fan, if we make it to Bowling Green, I can now make it a one day trip with half the drive and even return on Saturday for the other three games. I have no heartburn whatsoever with the KHSAA keeping the two larger classes as the late games.

When we play on Friday at 3, it will be much easier than the trip to PJCS and the 10 AM CST kickoff on Saturday we had the last two years. Can you imagine the FC Falcons showing up and actually being awake for the game??

  5. Coach Shawn Berner at Fort Campbell

Back to Back 2A titles, a possibility of a three-peat

1 Mr. Football & All-American (Micah Johnson), possible 1st round NFL draft pick

Possible Mr. Football this season (Antonio Andrews)

Numerous D1 football players, several more small-college players

All completed in this decade, just getting started

Coach at a military high school which experiences constant turnover of students & the continuous real world challenge of coaching kids of Soldiers deployed to war.

  6. Fort Campbell has the "You wish you were a Falcon!" cheer that usually comes after each touchdown.

    Later.

A cheer started by a Dad of two former Falcons. The cheer involves the entire Falcon side of the stadium in unison screaming "You wish you were a Falcon" at all others on the opposing side of the field. Probably gets old pretty quick for the opposing team based upon the normal frequency of scoring at FC. The cheer is not just limited to home games, FC fans will out-cheer most crowds - even on the road!

  7. FC should win this game by at least 20 points.

PT is a team with tremendous speed and always very atheletic. I don't really know why the wheels have come off the football program at PT, not long ago they were in the 3A title hunt.

The Falcons need to keep their heads up in this game because the Tornado have some individuals that will be looking to deliver a big hit. Not mush else for the Tornado to look forward to this season.

  8. I would love to also see video of that hit, I heard it was a shot!

One of the most dominate hits by a high school player I have witnessed and I watched a lot of hits being dished out by Micah Johnson at FC. Most of Antonio's recognition comes on the offensive side of the ball. He has a nasty side that he is more than happy to demonstrate when put in on D. He basically took the opposing player, picked him up at a dead run, drove him back 5 yards and slammed him on his back.

This is just another example of why he should be Mr. Football. Most of the mentioned candidates do one thing well, Antonio can do almost anything extremely well.

  9.

I agree, but perhaps not in the way you might think.... Everyone wants to blame the coach, but when you lose like that, you need new leadership, at the top..... The commanding general needs to make a change..... Not get rid of the coach.

Believe me, the CG at Fort Knox isn't in the decision making chain for the football program. The military chain of command support the school and athletic programs on their posts, but their concern is focused on National Defense. The Department of Defense Education Activity is responsible for the decisions at FKHS, not the Fort Knox military chain of command.

  10. I agree, there are good teams and bad teams at every level, and there are smaller schools that beat larger schools. But, thanks for admitting it was over the top, and we can now get back to the Mr. Football discussion.

Ram I agree, and I once again respectfully submit Antonio Andrews.

  11. 35 straight losses for Fort Knox... if something doesn't break this year for the Eagles, some of these kids will graduate without a HS varsity win...ouch...[/QUOTE]

That would be terrible, but is very probable. The longer the streak goes the harder it will be to get kids to participate. Not many kids willing to make the commitment to a program that can't garner a win during the four year span of a high school career.

Best wishes to Ft. Knox, but it is probably time they make some hard but required administrative decisions. Not too many places left that you can keep a job and not produce anything.

  12. Great game for the Falcons. Monroe had 3 To's with two fumbles and one interception. I agree with SEMPERFIFALCON about it not becoming a habit and also about a little respect. Monroe has beaten some good ball clubs, Their schedule is not light at no means, first three games on the road all against 3a schools, then home against a 5a. Thats ok though, please everyone overlook these Falcons because when they roll into town you will never forget the night you played them. This is an extremely hard hittng bunch of kids with a rematch with the FC Falcons in their sights!!!

Imo some of the Falcons need a heart check to go with the ego check!! I am a proud parent of two Falcons and love them all, I hope Coach P. looks at film and sees where they are lacking...which isn't much but a little fine tuning, and makes his team all they can be just like he always has.

    Keep on rolling Falcons!!!:thumb:

You guys get rid of Green County and we will gladly dispose of OC and Murray!! Sounds like the makings for another great game, glad it will be at our house though. We had to go on the road for the last two semi-finals for some reason.
