  1. Oldrambler, you are exactly right. 1-3 is due to (lack of) effort not preparation.
  2. This is what I said earlier. And that is what JV is for. :thumb:
  3. BTW, spindoc, I absolutely love the word, "BANE". I haven't heard it in a while. I used "ascertain" the other day. Don't be suprised if I use bane in a post in the future.:thumb:
  4. Yeah doc, and I for one am very tired of it. Nathaniel is only in 2nd grade so I have to hear it for awhile. Sadly, we hear it at the 2nd grade level, too. We have had parents ask why we play who we play and how come so in so is playing that position. Very, very tired of it. I guess I should've let them coach JFL........wait a minute, they didn't sign up or come to any organizational meetings. Too bad, maybe I'd have learned something.
  5. 8th graders cannot play JV or Varsity due to the rules.
  6. I am speaking of the Sophomores that don't play much in JV and no Varsity. It isn't a moral issue if the coaches speak about it and agree to whatever it is. Besides, why would you put a starter or someone playing significant minutes on the Varsity squad in danger of injury?
  7. ^ Just to add to my post....... I am very tired of the selfish attitudes displayed by many of our guys. Coach Maynard told them before the Boyd County game that they were playing for the RAM(S) and not a RAM, that it was a team not an individual sport. Coach Hoof always tells them before the game to put Team first and Self last. I think many on this team need to take this to heart.
  8. Nice post RamMom. I agree that maybe some of the talent that hasn't been utilized may need to get a chance. Who knows what they can do unless they get the chance.
  9. Due to being a 1A school, Raceland and many other 1A schools play sophomores that do not play varsity and very little JV ball. I wasn't aware of it until I was involved with the program 4 years ago. Coaches share this info with each other so don't get too high on the horse regarding freshmen football until you know all the facts. BTW, if Raceland didn't play sophomores on the freshmen team, there would be many years they wouldn't have enough to play. I agree with you about the importance of JV football. I don't think I ever said you couldn't play JV if you were on the field on Friday night. We have several reserves who play "roles" on Varsity that need the extra reps to improve, just as every school. :thumb:
  10. It isn't from the current staff so I didn't think about it. It's from several years ago and I didn't know if it was "throw back polo night" or not.
  11. Why would the senior flags be posted at a JV game? How many seniors are playing JV? I didn't think seniors were allowed to play?
  12. BTW, I own a GC football polo shirt. But the way I am being picked at, it will not be worn in a long time.
  13. The principal is Larry Coldiron. And guys, I was there. What amazes me is that you guys want to rag on me about GC winning........come on. I love to see Greenup win and do well but don't rag on me. I even had messages on my office answering machine saying, "Doc, can you tell me the score of the game?! Ha Ha Ha.!!!!!!!" Now since I have never ragged on GC and have always shown respect, I think this is going too far. Yes, you guys are hitting a nerve and I really don't know why it is that big a deal. I guess more people in Greenup look up to me than I thought.
  14. Hey, didn't you post in the Raceland/Greenup prediction thread that you couldn't see Raceland losing 3 in a row? Your prediction this week doesn't make me feel secure.
  15. I want nothing more than to see the Tomcats improve to 5-0 but I am worried that won't happen. Ironton is very good and they have their mojo back. I had the priviledge to be in the locker room at Putnam in '04 or '05 (can't remember which year was at Putnam) and listening to the coaching staff prepare the Ironton players to go onto the field. When it came time for Coach Lutz to speak, he simply and calmly said, "Men, we have been kicking their "butts" since second grade and there's no sense in stopping now. It's time to go out and show 'em which side of the river plays the best football." A former Ironton coach says, "It's just Ashland." It is this kind of attitude the Ironton players and coaches have about this series. Until Ashland goes out and dominates them, they will continue this attitude. Good luck Friday night and remain injury free.
  16. I agree. I am in no way dismissing last year's talent. We had an awesome team. I am in no way comparing this year's group to that because it is wrong to do. We have a lot of talent on the field and they are not executing and that is frustrating. The players need to make an identity for themselves and become leaders and bone up if the season is going to be corrected. All the coaching and preperation in the world will not cause a player to "want to".
  17. I am speaking of the '07, '08 seasons. I know that you heard it. I tried not to hear it and I heard it. You are correct, I haven't heard as much of it this year. I am glad that it has quieted some, but it is still there. I heard it at the GC game because I was sitting below the booth in the reserved seating and it was being discussed. Actually, I was shocked to hear it at that time just because of the fact you guys were winning by such a big margin. My thought was just to enjoy the victory instead of dreading the Ironton game and discussing why they couldn't win........It was disheartening. Sorry for getting off the subject of the thread.
  18. I am hopeful that this is the week we right the ship.
  19. Same could be said of Russell fans over the past few years. Some actually question whether Coach McGlone knows football. That is insane. The same thing is happening with the Raceland coaches now and it's crazy. CP, you're right about expectations but I don't think it is unfair to rate your team high. Do you really want people in the stands or on here or in the school saying, "mail this year in, you can't be that good."? I actually think it is a good thing that the players, coaches, fans and student body expect nothing worse than 8-2. I sure don't want to be around a group shooting for 2-8. Raceland has been unfortunate with injuries and inexperience but trust me the talent is there. I just don't understand how and why the offense can't get in sync. Our defense has played pretty well but it can't continue to on the field so much. Our offense needs much more than a bunch of 3 and outs.
