  1. Sending prayers. One of my best friends lost his father with ALS. Hope to meet you soon. If you need anything in the Danville area, please don't hesitate to ask.
  2. I'm not sure this is actually credible. I'm hearing something quite different. I don't actually think anyone knows except those on the committee and they are doing a very good job of not letting info out.
  3. Did someone refute something you said? This post is confusing to me. Did someone call you out?
  4. Aside from 2 total posts Sportsguy I've not heard anyone say he was the next coach. I myself had heard only that he applied. Don't even know if that actually correct or not.
  5. He does, but I'm just not comfortable sharing it. If the info was coming from different sources I would dismiss as just another rumor but those I've heard it from aren't in the same circles and don't really know each other and it would be a BIG get. Also let me say this, i'm nobody. There are many who have much better info than I do. I'm just a fan and supporter. I do personally view the Boyle job as one of the top public school jobs in the state and i'm aware many may not. Having said that, if half of the names that have applied are correct the list is impressive and Boyle seems to be close to landing a really good, proven coach. Brandon Smith is still my #1 but there seems to be little chance of that happening now.
  6. I'll be honest I heard a name a few times in the last 3 or 4 days and if it's true I'm not going to be as upset as I've been about Brandon saying no. Provided he is the next coach that is.
  7. Really tough schedule next year and I know they used a lot of soph's this year and I think will be better next year but man are they going to miss Darrian Bell. Kid was an absolute monster on the defensive side of the ball the last two years. I think the best player on the field for them both of those years, especially on the defensive side. Big shoes to fill.
  8. No telling with new staff but I think he stays at WR. Has proven himself quite capable. In other news I believe Coach Settles has announced his retirement also. As reported last week by FoSho.
  9. I really enjoyed the this one. 7 was ok but 8 was terrible. Abrams basically had to try to fit 2 movies into one and wrap up so many story lines because 8 didn't do anything but cause more questions. There were times that it did seem like all it was doing was closing story lines but for all that had to be answered I did enjoy it. The 9 year old me from 1977 felt nostalgic several times.
  10. I can think of several reasons to come back and I can think of several reasons not to. I really hope that he does come back but will understand if he doesn't.
  11. Actually I think you did, but that's ok. I'll know not respond next time.
  12. Teaching positions do, coaching positions do not.
  13. You said my dream list. Now when I give it, you make smart remarks.
  14. Brandon Smith Eddie Eviston Chris Wolfe I also like Mark Brown, Shawn Thompson and Doug Preston.
  15. Jeff Hester has a son who is a Jr and I think if he was a Sr. he would maybe be leaving with Pardue and Chuck so I honestly don't think he would entertain at all. I think Settles and Travis Leffew would both get consideration if they applied. I think John Hodges exit at Bourbon would make him a tough sell. French would NOT entertain a return. Besides, I think he's happy. I should share that I have not talked to any of the 5 coaches above about this and this is merely speculation on my part.
  16. I personally would aim for the fences if Brandon says no. Couple or three names that were coaching in the finals.
  17. I can't see Boyle giving the job to anyone without any head coaching experience regardless of their success as a coordinator. I don't think age, too young or too old, would make as much of a difference as experience and proven track record. French was not spring chicken when he was hired. Plan B is the real question here. The Boyle administrators are some pretty smart guys so the obvious first call is to Brandon Smith as so many have already mentioned. If Brandon turns it down then I would imagine the Rebels would get a very good response to the job opening and I feel they would have chance to talk to several pretty good candidates.
  18. Not sure I would put McPeek as a candidate. But that might just be me.
  19. Not disagreeing, but why do you think Boyle is a much better job.
  20. Congrats Coach Smith on a retirement well earned. The Rebel Nation appreciates it more than you know !!!
