CovCath is taking their football program to the next level...
Imagine with you will, a junior high program running the same type of offensive and defensive system ran at the high school level. How could this type of system in place not help the program? I grew up in Central KY and we had a city league which ran the same system from 4th grade thru high school, not only did it help me as a player but allowed coaches to coach technique versuses the system. If this program gets legs underneath it, CCH will be a very strong program in the state. I know HHS appears to be GOD in NKY but......LOOK OUT!!!! Here comes the Colonels. :fight:

Rebels vs. Purples
With out a doubt, what I remember most about when I played, beating Tillman at Tillman only to lose to Meade co in semi-state. At that time, BGHS had never made it past the second round of the playoffs. Of course 2 years later we made it to state. I am hoping to be able to get back to a few games this year. By the way, I was a freshman when Chuck and Roscoe were seniors and actually I was the only freshman to dress varsity that year when they got into the playoffs. Special moments!!

Your High School's Football Web Site
Just wondering, did you click on any of the other provided web links? The others were complete websites with a list of the team roster, schedule, coaching profiles, that type of link would be nice to see.

Rebels vs. Purples
Thanks for the invite. I have not been keeping up with the Purples as much as I should be but I know most of the coaches and actually play under a couple of them, I played against Coach Wallace when he was at Warren East. Since a close friend passed away it hard to come back to the games. Monie Beard was a special person and a close father figure to me, I still miss him to this day.

Campbell County's football field.... Wow!
Any good high school coach who wants to be a consist winner. Most programs in NKY which have been good on a consist basis, have good feeder schools. Just my opinion.

Highlands, #1 Linebacker crew in the bluegrass...
Great points. Honestly, I do not think Marty would be drafted in this day and age. The league is all about the size and speed of a player. Oblivious what you do on the field will get the teams to take a look but once you run a 4.8 in the 40 your going to drop, you cant coach speed. Also, Marty didnt have great speed, he had great instincts on the field meaning game speed. I completely agree Marty had a great career and myself and anyone on BGP would love to have a 8 year career in the NFL.

I also would like to know the date, if all possible?

Highlands, #1 Linebacker crew in the bluegrass...
Marty is definitely the benchmark for HHS LB's and he might have been quick/fast enough in high school to dominant but not in college. Marty was an outstanding player for the Cats but the reason why he was the last pick in the draft and why he mainly played special teams was because of his speed. I will say this about him, I never seen a person with the ability to ALWAYS be around the ball, OUTSTANDING PLAYER. :ylsuper:

New coaches at Covington Catholic
I definietly understand your point but really Obliviously the HC needs to know the game but not all aspects of the game. There are assistants right now who may know a lot more about a position than a HC and some of the ones I have spoken with enjoys it because they dont have a HC looking over there should, they can just coach. Also, I would hope ALL HC communciate with their coordinators when a game changing decision is being made.

Very true, Scott does have a lot of great athletes walking around the school hallways, but why is it the coaches fault he cant get them to come out for the team? Or when a great one comes through he ends up at HHS or Dixie etc. As stated earlier, oblivious you want your head coach to know the game, but really its not necessary. He needs to be an excellent facilitator of the game and to hire coaches who know the game and to let them coach.

New coaches at Covington Catholic
WOW. What a shot. Have you ever consider, a head coach truly doesnt need to know the game as long as he has excellent asisst coaches. Head coaches are there to make the decision to punt or go for it on 4th down.

New coaches at Covington Catholic
Agree. Only time will tell.

New coaches at Covington Catholic
I completely understand but just because they came from Scott doesnt mean they are not good coaches. You could put any staff at Scott and not win. I promise you, if you have the athletes you will win no matter the system or scheme the kids are in.

New coaches at Covington Catholic
I must say, I am a football fan which likes to see good football take place on the field. And any HHS fan who reads a blog always have to throw a shot at anyone who is not raving about HHS. Provide any coach with the athletes which comes through HHS and Im sure they would win. I not saying HHS coaches are not great coaches (I truly believe they are) but football doesnt start and stop with HHS. But I am a firm believer to the best you have to beat the best. Just my opinion.

New coaches at Covington Catholic
As long as they are good quality coaches, which sounds like the staff can match up to anyone in the state.
