If you think its easier to shine brighter in the cities where the 7th and 11th regions are then you are mistaken. There's a ton of dynamic guards and wings in these regions that are not nearly heralded as some out in the state. Games at Ballard, Eastern, Manual, Male, and Jtown draw huge crowds and the intensity in these games is off the chart. You play with heart or you lose. And its the same way in the 11th. Elliott County is an outstanding and talented basketball team and I think even the city fans can recognize that. Just don't discount a player that averages 12 points a game with a schedule that has 12 to 15 top 20 teams on it.

What if a player goes for 18 points in a win over say Rose Hill and only plays 2 quarters worth of time? The reason that player getting just 2 quarters is due to their team being up 25+ points and calling off the dogs. The player didn't go for 30, but helped his team to an easy win. Does this classify as an elite scorer?

Where does Holmes, Manual, Jeffersontown, Male, and North Hardin fit into the top 5?

Greg Johnson of North Hardin is another tremendous talent. Johnson is a guard certainly worthy of being listed too.

If we are going to talk about top guards that can hit the trey, then we need to add Robert Hatton of GRC. He's one of the best pure shooters around.

How about 22 first half points against North Hardin and finishing with 33 on just 5 misses? Four straight treys against Fayette (GA) with Noel Johnson in the 4th quarter including one at 30 seconds left to send it to overtime before winning 3rd place in the KOB in a 28 point effort? How about 6 of 9 from threes against Seattle Select's Peyton Siva (UL) and Tony Wroten both top 50 players nationally in respective classes? Just saying. I agree, Ferguson is a legit shooter.

Lets see, how would 16 of 19 from threes (including 8 threes made in a row) in two consective games combined do while averaging 35 in those games? How would 76% from the field and 67% from 3s (6 of 9) in two games against the best seniors in Kentucky while averaging 21 do for shooting?

I believe Pittman, Riley, Johnson, and Jenkins played on the same squad in the UK Elite Camp. That was fun to see. Interesting list.

Duncanville is one game. There's no right or wrong between the two schedules, but don't count just one game as the argument for strength of schedule.

Playing teams from out of the state is sometimes overrated. Two years ago Manual won a North Carolina Classic event by beating two top 10 teams from Georgia and the #3 team in Florida. Don't discount Kentucky high school hoops too much. The KOB is loaded with high caliber out of state teams this year including a highly regarded team out of Seattle which features UL commit Peyton Siva.

Manual played a similar schedule last year and won 23 games. Won the LIT and placed 3rd in the KOB. There's no way to gauge how good this team can be or how many wins they end up with, but the players will see the best and will experience Kentucky high school basketball at its fullest. Manual will respect every opponant on their schedule or the result will be a loss.

It does not appear that Scott County's schedule is the state's toughest schedule.

King of the Bluegrass, Louisville Inv Tournament, and 5th/3rd are all of Kentucky's top major tourneys. KY Prep Classic and HoopFest are one game showcases. KY Prep Classic opponant has not been set yet, but the HoopFest opponant is 2-time defending Mississippi state champs Provine High.

His dad did use up his eligibilty and a banner retiring his number as a tribute to him was hung on a wall inside Manual's basketball gym during the past season. One of the best players the city of Louisville ever produced. Phil Jr is now a point guard at Manual and pretty darn good one too.

Samsel will need to learn to be a distributor this season as he will be counted on to run the point. He looked solid this summer. Not certain, Manual's lineup may go as: PG 6'0 Sean Samsel SG 6'4 Jacob Jenkins WG 6'5 Tony Kimbro Jr PF 6'3 Harold Calhoun C 6'10 Alex Nikolic Reserves: WG 6'2 Miles Mitchell WG 6'2 Derrick Woodmore PG 6'1 Phil Bond PG 5'10 Bruce Bell Manual will have some talent and speed. Should a much more versatile team this season.

Lets see. Maybe Manual's schedule can come close. King of the Bluegrass 5th/3rd Bank Classic Louisville Invitational Tournament Kentucky Prep Classic HoopFest Then playing in the toughest region this year in the 7th with games including Ballard, Eastern, Male, Jeffersontown, Trinity, and Seneca. Non-region games against 6th region favorites Iroquois and a season-opener against 5th region favorite North Hardin. Topping it off with a district that will include Male, then moving on to the 7th region tourney where there will likely be 5 or 6 top 25 teams. Is that close?

It will be a great event.

Not just Manual, there's North Hardin and J'town too.

Its good to continue discounting the other top Kentucky teams. The season will tell the story.
