  1. Who are the pickers? Is it the school administration only? Is there a committee? What is the process being used?
  2. The Central Record was dropping lots of names. It would be interesting to know who the source is for that info. Stuff about a coach who has won state titles in other locations. A former E-town coach. A current coach who grew up in the Rockcastle system. That's a wide variety. The Central Record either has an inside source or is just fishin' for info. My guess is there is a leak somewhere.
  3. I'm not from Mt. Washington, but I have heard that Doug Preston is interested. I believe he is at Louisville Western right now.
  4. Just heard from a former teacher at Garrard that the interviews are being scheduled for March 8 or 15. Appears that some candidates are from out of state and schedules have been difficult to match. Still no actual names to refer to.
  5. Thanks for the updates. The Burnett name is new to me. I had not heard that one. Glad gnat has a reliable source. Someone needed to be talking to the insiders to see what was up. Is there any news on a timeline yet?
  6. Was Preston in the running? I believe he was at Garrard as an assistant previously. I had posted previously that interviews were coming around March 1, but that was just rumor. I have heard nothing new all week. If you know something Physicallion, let us in on it.
  7. gchs_uk9 is right about the speculation being out of control, but that is because there is no solid information out there about the direction the school is going. Roy Munson is correct too. The only names that have circulated that were proven winners are no longer in the speculation. Perhaps gchs_uk9's conversation with the admin is good enough for now, but it would sure be nice to know some names.
  8. Could be that an assistant from Hover High has applied!?
  9. Just heard that interviews have been set for the weekend of March 1. Don't know who, but it is being rumored that there are some interviews with experienced head coaches as well as a couple of assistants.
  10. The Garrard County position is still not filled, lets start another one with the hope that someone will have some insight to share.
  11. Cooper is suppose to be talking to Settles. Looks like he might be returning to Lincoln.
  12. Well, Lincoln has their job filled. Let's see what Garrard can do to fill theirs. Based on the info in this thread, they are off to a tough start. Perry says no and Settles is going to Lincoln. Two strong candidates already off the board. Maybe they will have something resolved before long.
  13. I had heard that Settles was going to Lincoln. How did his name surface at Garrard? I had been told that they are getting ready to start interviews at Garrard. Any ideas on who they are looking at?
  14. Hester has been at Garrard once. It is hard to imagine he would consider a return. Maybe it was Mason that visited today.
  15. Gnat & GCHS UK 9, you both seem to have insight at Garrard. Who are you pulling for and what kind of timeline is the school sticking to? I've heard a Boyle County assistant was at the school today. Any chance a Boyle assistant would be considered?
  16. Haven't heard the name, but have heard that he has only coached at the college level.
  17. Sounds like you have the inside scoop! Strange that all the Perry info was flying around if there was no truth to it. Oh, well. I guess several posters will be disappointed.
  18. Just heard that Perry was offered the job as early as last week. He has turned it down. According to rumor, he said "no" because of community negativity toward the high school and the football program. Reference was made to some board member's lack of support for the high school. If true, Garrard County will have to move on in its search.
  19. Last night was Senior Night for the GCHS basketball teams. Apparently, the conversation about the football coaching position revolved around a college coach's application. He is out of state and his name wasn't used, but apparently some in the community are very excited about the possibilities.
  20. No doubt about discipline being a home issue. It is a tough thing for a coach to fix when mom and dad don't back him. You would think discipline could be a problem in any program. Garrard may just have to treat parents the way other schools do.
  21. Garrard is going to have to hope several things happen: quality candidates apply; a teaching position is available because the board office doesn't seem to throw money at athletics like say Mercer County; and patience.
  22. How do you know the talent pool is improving over the next 7-8 years? Did the kids have a great middle school year or is it based on little league success? Hard to imagine how you can determine talent pool for kids that young. Educate me!
  23. Rumor is that 3 of the applicants at Madison Southern have already contacted Garrard about their position. That could mean they are out already. Don't know which three, but at least three.
