  1. Re-watched some of the first meeting between these two and it only reenforced my feelings about how great this one is going to be. I'll take Station narrowly, and think that right now, they're the team to beat in the region. Same time, nothing would shock me in this one either.
  2. I think people initially overlooked Henry Clay, and while it wouldn't surprise me at all if they won this one, the amount of attention they have been getting now might mean that they might not be taken as lightly as they would have otherwise. Nothing really surprises me in this one. Isaiah Tisdale can score and it he's hot, it's a long night for Catholic. Will be interesting to see what Salsman does to try and slow him.
  3. I'll say Ballard by 12, but I think it's just as plausible that Trinity wins a close one.
  4. Please provide any video weblinks for places carrying Regional Tournament games. If you want to add any below, then leave them in the comments and I'll update everything in alpha-numeric order as they come in. I know Prepspin and Livesportscaster have already carried some of the contests and it's been great getting to see things online, so if anyone has other links, let us know. 5. That is co-rrect. Sorry for the confusing wording on my part. I re-read it and it does sound like he sat the entire first half.
  6. Doing things the right way means being loyal to your kids and not eating your own young. Don't up and just drop a kid for a higher rated kid who is the hotter thing coming along. It may work sometimes, but in the long run, that kind of stuff will get you. Getting into AAU coaching just seeing it as a spring board to a high school job probably means you don't have the most altruistic motives either. These are the guys you often see shopping kids and trying to broker "packages".
  7. Clay County. Hard to beat a packed house in Bangchester. Clay County's got a very nice, huge gym. Big enough that everyone who wants in will get into a split session regional semi and I don't think they'd have to turn anyone away.
  8. Central's Pep Band and their Dance Team can steal the show. Great work by each of them. People were loving it during their run at Rupp when they met up with Holmes in that thrilling double-OT final.
  9. Wanted to give a shout out to three of Lexington Catholic's kids. #1 goes to Jarod Griffin, who played pretty well yesterday and always seems to be finding a way to get it done. #2 goes to JJ Ogbogu, a kid that has a game and some edge that I'm a fan of. #3 goes to Walker Boothe for having a nice offensive game, though he'll have to do more work on the boards in the next round.
  10. Man, I've seen lots of Clay County teams, and this is a special group of kids. They've worked really hard to put Clay County back atop the throne in the 13th after a long drought (over the past two years). One more left with Williamsburg on Monday night though before I say anything else. I've been quiet on Clay Co. other than the update threads and commentary after the games. I will say that if you listen to or talked to people who went to the past two, they'll tell you that both were wars, and that Clay Co. had to dig deep to pull them out, but found a way to do it. In the post-game radio show, you could tell how excited Coach Marcum was and one of his quotes was that he couldn't wait to get back to the locker room to congratulate the kids on doing what they'd done to that point, but he was sure to say that they'd celebrate in the moment, then immediately focus on Williamsburg.
  11. That's why you have assistants watching JV games. Some people like to hold back a little something when it's all on the line.
  12. Hats off to Coach Hundley, who had his team ready and seemed to have a great gameplan. Woodford County was down by 3 with the ball with only 2:30 remaining in the game and had the same opportunity with 2:00 left after a stop.
  13. Go to 34:34 to see Tanner Johnson pull one the ole' "Catholic school kid getting frustrated and shoving someone when no one is looking" play. Before that the announcers had noticed him, as they described "running his mouth and cussing at a couple of kids" on the previous trip down, which they discuss during the technical aftermath.
  14. Tanner Johnson was held scoreless in the first half and only trailed 29-23 at the break. Johnson was pretty frustrated for lots of the game. He only finished with 9. Lots of chippy play in this one.
  15. The Blue Devils roll and now have a date with Lexington Catholic in the semis. Can't wait to see that one or the Lafayette vs. Bryan Station rematch.
  16. Knights survive a bit of a close one to move on and play Henry Clay in the semis.
  17. Game was tied at the half, though Lafayette didn't have Lucky in the first half. Hats off to Coach Wise for how far he brought this Franklin County team over the year.
  18. Shout out to Ryan House whose defensive effort held Barger, one of the region's top players to only 6.
