Tanner Johnson was held scoreless in the first half and only trailed 29-23 at the break. Johnson was pretty frustrated for lots of the game. He only finished with 9.

Lots of chippy play in this one.

Go to 34:34 to see Tanner Johnson pull one the ole' "Catholic school kid getting frustrated and shoving someone when no one is looking" play.

Before that the announcers had noticed him, as they described "running his mouth and cussing at a couple of kids" on the previous trip down, which they discuss during the technical aftermath.

Hats off to Coach Hundley, who had his team ready and seemed to have a great gameplan. Woodford County was down by 3 with the ball with only 2:30 remaining in the game and had the same opportunity with 2:00 left after a stop.

Interesting video. When I watched it live I thought LexCath was fortunate that it ended up just being a double T and nothing more on the Knights end. I think that was Coach Wise as the color guy.

I was also impressed by how well Woodford County played. They had a freshman, Chandler Stewart, score like 14 for them today. From looking at the KHSAA's website it doesn't look like he played much, they have him at 1.7 points per game in only 12 games. Of course the last few don't have stats reported but I don't recall him playing in the District final against Franklin Co. My point being they got quite a few key points from a seemingly unexpected source.

That's why you have assistants watching JV games. Some people like to hold back a little something when it's all on the line.

Wanted to give a shout out to three of Lexington Catholic's kids. #1 goes to Jarod Griffin, who played pretty well yesterday and always seems to be finding a way to get it done. #2 goes to JJ Ogbogu, a kid that has a game and some edge that I'm a fan of. #3 goes to Walker Boothe for having a nice offensive game, though he'll have to do more work on the boards in the next round.
