I would think he's going to give him more than 2.5 months to judge him. It's pretty laughable that you're saying the Nats having two good weeks in June is b/c Dunn is gone. Why weren't they good the two months before that?

Being that you're an age of the prospect guy for position players at age 23 Wood was in the majors for a majority of the year. I would guess he was a top 30 prospect at some point last year the age of 23. I'm not saying he'll be as good as Lee. I am willing to bet the Mets won't do better picking 35th or so in the draft. He's still young.

Volquez couldn't get through 5 innings. The offense has battled back to tie it at 4 at the end of 6 though. Nice to have Lecure back. It would be really nice to get a W here.

When is the last time the Yankees made a huge trade in season? They aren't trading for Reyes. Also, I'm on record saying if I was the Reds I'd offer a catching prospect, Cozart, Wood and another prospect.

That's what I don't get about this argument. Who is going to give up a ton for Reyes with him saying he won't negotiate a new deal until the winter? Why give up more than a few prospects? The Mets would do it for two or three because they're broke and they can get known prospects rather than two picks in the 31-45 range. Wood is a better prospect by a million over anyone that goes 31st in next years draft. How many teams that are in contention need a SS as desperately as the Reds and have quite a few prospects?

The linked article said he had a 3.2 WAR in 196 innings. I'd bet anything they don't get that out of a pitcher they draft that late in their first 196 major league innings especially if they start. Sure they could, but it's still very hit and miss. Also I don't know if you've noticed or not, but the Wilpon's are dead broke. They're not looking to pay guy that fall in the draft a bunch when they can pay guys like Wood the league minimum.

Who can and will make a better offer to the Mets. Put yourself in the Mets shoes Wood, Cozart and another piece or 2 picks in the 35 rangod of the draft. They would take anything close to Wood's production out of any of the two picks they would use and throw away the 2nd pick if they knew they would get Wood's production. By the way Ike Davis is hurt and looking at possible micro-fracture surgery on his knee.

IMO they aren't winning the division this year with what they have at SS and LF. They are wasting 1 of the 3 years they have with Votto. Guys like Votto aren't coming and going as easily as you make it sound. They need to go for it now and if it goes right over the next 3 years and attendance improves so will the payroll. I think they have to let Votto walk in 3 years, but they need to go down swinging with him in case they don't have anyone as good as him for the next 20 years.

Yes. They have a 3 year window and I'd do everything to win now. I don't think Wood or Cozart are that good. I'd rather deal Grandal but I'd do it either way.

I would either not announce trades at all or announce them in real time. This format is useless.

Or Grandal and I'd do that if I were the Reds and I'd have Chapman pitch as a stater in Louisville the rest of the season if I got rid of Wood.
