That is true, it does help to force you to hurry with the ball, but West was very effective in slowing the game down. However West is also the second best team in the region so I am sure that helped as well.

You know I think teams in the 16th believe they can run with us and will beat us at it, when in fact it plays right into our hands. Anderson County slowed the game down and didnt try to run with us and we know how close that was. I know Rose Hill is no Anderson County but if they slow the game down it would be much closer. Glad their not but I think it would be effective.

Well that was one of my issues as well. I am very impatient and didnt want to set for hours and didnt want to get there so late that I could not get a seat.

I finally got my call and he is going to call me every so often.

yeah your probally right, and some people I work with are going and I could have went with them but I lazed out and came home. Not a good choice.

I am trying to get a hold of someone at the game. When I do I will post what information I get on here. Im not very happy, I had planned to go to the game then I thought I would listen to it on the radio, then I find out its not on the radio. But oh well cant blame 102.9, they have to broadcast their home team. :cry:

Yeah they were tough that year. At one point in the Elliott- Gallatin game, I thought we were going to upset them and we actually scored more points from the field, but Gallatin hit a bunch of free throws and put us away at the end.

I know everyone is talking about the state class A, but I remember in 1999 Elliott and Raceland were in the finals for the 16th region. Raceland was the clear favorite and were beating Elliott by 10 with 1:32 left in the game. Elliott rallied back and won that game by 1. It was Elliotts first 16th region class A championship and the papers said it was a mini miracle that Elliott won. They went on to play Gallatin County (dont think I spelled that right) who were 17-0 at the time. Gallatin beat Elliott by 8 in that first round game of the All A.

I know Mays is not the greatest coach in the world, and if you judge him by his record you can say he is in the lower tier of the 16th. However you have to consider that he has coached for 27 years with the same team. I notice most schools in the 16th change coaches every so often and often when coaches see a bad future coming they jump ship and go somewhere else. Mays has stuck it out with little Elliott. Again I have questioned his coaching many many times, but how many others in this region have coached a team as long as him through good and bad. I dont know just something to think about I guess.

I agree with you. The 16th doesnt get enough respect. And Im like you I will root for whoever wins the 16th.

Yep. Ashland won 54-53. Even the scores are close!! Good little rivalry this season.

I dont think were cocky, we just have faith in our Lions. Friday will be a great game, Rose Hill is an improved team and are not going to just let Elliott have it. But theres nothing wrong with looking a head and figuring out who you might play if you do win. I understand what your saying: just wanted to let you know that we dont think we have it in the bag just yet, just thinking about the next step if it happens.:thumb:
