I hate to see that Colt Barnhill didn't make the all tourney team. He had two very nice games and was left out. I think the big turnaround in the game came when he got hurt in the third quarter. Both teams played well and congratulations to Elliott on the district championship
The Barnhill kid is an absolute gamer. He's the reason I give East the edge in a game against RH. (If it happens)

I personally think Tyler Maynard could be named the MVP of this game. His numbers aren't as big as the Faulkners or Ferguson, but he stepped up early in the 3rd and hit a couple of big 3's for Elliott and got them going.
I think they will miss him more next year than a lot of people realize. Even though he has stuggled with his stroke this year, other teams have no choice but to respect him.

Maynard stepped up big for Elliott tonight with both Knipps under the weather. Great to see him recognized with a place on the all tourney team. Bad for other teams if he really gets it going now after whats kinda been a subpar shooting year for him.... The kid can really fill it up when he gets going.

I agree with you but they better come out of the gate better than they did tonight.
Absolutely, very lackluster first half for Elliott tonight. Even if it was for the most part without two starters.

CONGRATS
ELLIOTT!!!
It's hard to beat a team 3 times in the same season but . . .
you did it!!! :ylsuper:
:dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa
Unfortunately, I have a bad feeling that to get back to Rupp they will have to beat a very good team 4 times in the same year

I made the thread for great players. It is being used in a very broad way here. I should clear this up. Thread title- The Top 15 Players in the 16th 2003-Present because the only trully great player to come through has been OJ Mayo. The Faulkners are good, solid players that are fun to watch but are not Great.
Personally, if you want the top 15 from 2003 to present, there is no way you can leave out Ethan Faulkner. JMO.

Congratulations to the Rams, They are without a doubt my 2nd favorite 16th region team. (A man from Bruin gotta be an EC fan

C'mon you basketball expert, 16th has been wide open ever since Elliott was beaten a few times this year.
Rose Hill has struggled off and on this year, they can't be considered a runaway favorite. East Carter has been coming on strong and Bath Co has had a solid year. It's been wide open for months, where have you been??
Just messing with you, you are right, with both Elliott and Rose Hill struggling at times in their games, makes you wonder what kind of upsets we are going to get in the 1st round of the 16th.
I could be wrong but personally I don't see Elliott getting beat by anyone not named East Carter. RH is capable yeah, but IMHO can't do it again. And I just don't see a lesser team beating them. The heart of those kids is tremendous.

Nope, it was about Billy Donovan coming to Kentucky.
In that case, eat him alive.:thumb: We don't need the the second coming of a traitor in Lex.
-
Sounds like it was a good one. Also looks like RH is maturing and learning to win the close ones that matter. Look foward to seeing them in the Region!

Wireman went against EC last year???????? If so I'll have to have a talk with him! lol.
-
The Lions rally from a 9 point half time deficit to win the district. Congratulations to Elliott County. I look forward to Wireman buying my dinner at BW3's during the 16th Region Tournament.
Although I don't know Wireman personally, I'll go on record for him stating, "Have your check book ready!" He can withdraw that, or confirm it, if he so chooses! Sorry Wireman, just stating as any true Elliott fan would :ylsuper:

You are aware that when Elliott has faced teams that play REALLY good defense and take care of the ball, Elliott has lost all 3 games by double digits right?
I think Rose Hill would do just fine if they had to face the Sandy Hook NBA team again.
I can tell by your post you didn't attned that game did you? Don't drink to much of that RH kool-Aid. The RH "D" wasn't what won the game. Also they didn't lose that game by double digits. And they lead with a minute remaining....after shooting 29% for the game. But thanks for your comments!

Elliott 77-67
-
Somewhere in Ashland RH is praying they don't draw East in the first round of the region
-
Elliott 74-62 East fans heading to the exit
-
Elliott 71 East 60. You'll not out work the Faulkner twins when the game is on the line.
-
63-54 Elliott with 4 and one half to play
-
Elliott 47-45 start of 4th
-
I'll go on record now saying that either one of these teams send RH home come regions
-
Why is that?
Because I would'nt count on Elliott shooting 29 percent again;)
-
Elliott 40-36
-
East 36 Elliott 35
-
These stats tell the tale. East 14 for 20, Elliott 8 for 26. Rebounds East 15, Elliott 9.
Elliott County 78 East Carter 67

Very Little. Was sick, and when he did come in very quickly got in foul trouble.
