On April 20th the death rate was 5.74%. On May 27th it was 4.36%. On June 15th it was 3.84%. Yesterday 1.38%

As of last week, though, the TBYFL was pushing ahead. They allowed resumption of conditioning practice last Monday and have scheduled August 17 as the start of full contact practices. Games are still scheduled to start on September 5.

I don't know about the national death rate, but the death rate in Florida, one of the "hot" spots, dropped below 1.4% for the first time since early March.

I now know 4 people who have tested positive for the virus. All are related to work. A fellow who tested positive over a month ago is due back to work on Monday. He had no symptoms but tested positive second time after his 1st 14 day quarantine. His last test was negative after a 2nd 14 day quarantine. A customer service agent who was already working from home caught it from her husband. Her daughter also tested positive for Covid. For some reason, her husband's test results took more than 2 weeks to process, and though they came back positive, by the time he got them, he had been symptom free from more than 2 weeks and was cleared to return to work. He had a mild flu like symptoms, nothing more. The daughter had no symptoms at all. The CSR from my workplace had mild cold symptoms and had lost her sense of taste and smell. With the exception of her senses, which are improving, she has recovered. Since she is working from home, she has not missed a day of work.

Just for perspective, in Florida, Hillsborough County's total hospital bed census (all beds including ICU) is 3,360. 607, 18%, are diagnosed with Covid.

I have no way of getting the source data, but the allegations of using anitbody test results as positive test results are prevalent at the moment. Again, with the exception of channel 35's reporting, I've seen no creditable proof, just allegations.

The number of cases statewide has increased by more than 140%, so there could be a case made that the mask ordinances are working, I rarely see anybody inside a business without a mask. You were down here. People are following the laws. The allegations of fraud are rampant, but with the exception of the investigative reports made by channel 35 in Orlando, I've seen no creditable proof of such. They started the month off testing like crazy, but with all the fraud allegations, it has dropped to about 80,000 tests a day, statewide. Yes. I am a nerd. I keep a running spreadsheet.

Friday July 24 will mark one month since Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties implemented their mask ordinances and closed all of the bars. Since July 1st the number of positive cases in Hillsborough alone has increased by more than 110%.

Thank you. He did that a while back and she had an adverse reaction to Losartin. He's using the half dose of the other HP med to determine a replacement. I don't know what it is. I agree that she may have laid around too much these last few months, but she has other conditions that prevent her from just going out. That being the case, I just want to do all I can to make sure this is not a repetitive thing.

And trying to get her to go to the doctor is like trying to pull teeth.

At this time of year the ICU's, at least in the BayCare system, normally run between 85 and 90% capacity. Heart attacks, auto accidents, drug overdoses, and other diseases are still happening. Especially drug overdoses.

Mrs. S has had a cough for more than a month. She kept telling me it was from the Lisinopril she had been taking for her high blood pressure. Coughing is a side effect with Lisinopril. When she went to the doctor in May he checked her lungs, heard nothing unusual, cut the amount of Lisinopril she was taking in half, and replaced the other half with another HP med. However the cough kept getting worse. I finally talked her into letting me take her to the doctor yesterday. She has been diagnosed with viral pneumonia. Her doctor did NOT give her a Covid test. He heard the rails, she did not have Covid symptoms, the cough has been going on a long time, and he did not feel it was necessary. For what it is worth, he's also my doctor, a retired Army doctor who specialized in biological warfare treatments before, during, and after the Gulf War. I trust him emphatically. I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out how she got the pneumonia, though. She has been basically isolated since March and I am still doing the CDC recommended cleanup before entering the house. You would think that would isolate her from everything, not just Covid. She has been out of the house 4 times in that period and one of those times was that doctor's appointment in May. I'm having the air in the house tested.

Yes, Sir. Almost 90,000 cases. Broward is next with 43,000. Palm Beach has 27,000 followed by Hillsborough with 25,000 and Orange with 24,000.

Florida's survival rate for positive tests is 98.6%.

These are ICU availability from an hour ago. All of the 5 counties that show 0% availability are counties with very low populations and few ICU beds to begin with, the exception being Hernando County that has 62 ICU beds. The others are Monroe(13 beds), Nassau(8), Okeechobee(8), and Putnum(11). The hardest hit counties Broward (Ft. Lauderdale), Miam-Dade, Palm Beach, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Duval, and Orange Counties all have ICU beds available. Hillsborough has the fewest at 9% availability. Both Palm Beach and Duval are over 22% ICU availability. 450 ICU beds are currently available in those counties alone. In the BayCare hospital system ICUs only 33% of the patients in ICU are Covid and that is because of one hospital in Polk County, Winter Haven (a 136 bed ICU) is at 70% Covid. Pediatric ICUs are in even better shape. Only St. Lucie County has none of it's 6 Pediatric ICU beds available. Most others have over 30% availability.

Define "practice". I know East Lake has been having at least tryout and conditioning sessions since mid to late June.

Unless I read the statement wrong, according to the CDC getting it from an asymptomatic infected person (someone infected but does not know they have it) is rare, not automatic.

That may be because wearing masks is required in all indoor public areas and all indoor private businesses by Pinellas County ordinance (Hillsborough and Pasco have the same ordinance). The businesses are responsible for enforcement. Failure of a business to comply results in a hefty fine on the business. On top of that, Publix has mandated masks be worn in all of their stores, regardless of local laws or ordinances. I rarely go to any grocery store, anymore, opting for delivery unless we only need one item, like milk. Mrs. S drinks that A2 stuff and I can't get that in bulk. I met my daughter at Lenny's in Clearwater for breakfast Saturday morning. It's the first time I've been in a restaurant to sit down and eat in quite a while. I usually do curb-side pickup or delivery. It was different wearing a mask to the table, not wearing it once seated, then putting it back on to leave. (That logic makes no sense to me and it's the inconsistencies that drive me nuts.) During the lock down, I did not have to wear a mask at work. We had a fellow in production who's brother tested positive so we sent him home and he tested positive. At that point I had to wear a mask if I had to go into the production area. Now, after the passage of the mask ordinance, if I leave my office, I have to wear a mask.

Dentists, Chiropractors, hair and nail salons, beaches, any social gathering places (including churches), and most retail outlets, including sit down restaurant access. And many of those workers deemed essential were working from home. Those retail outlets deemed essential had their hours of operation cut back. Also all elective medical procedures were stopped. For all the people supposedly out and about, my drive to work everyday was basically with no traffic at all during that time. Retail mall and strip mall parking lots were deserted. Regardless of the extent of the lock down, my point is that the restrictions during that time were much more comprehensive than wearing a mask and following guidelines. However, I hope they are right.

Parents in several FLA counties received school reopening plans, yesterday. In Pinellas, the parents are given the options of going back live with Covid-19 restrictions, attending online the first semester then going back live the 2nd semester, and attending online the entire year. In Seminole County, the options included 9 weeks online then reevaluating and alternating online and live attendance during the week. My daughter-in-law, a principle in Seminole County, spent yesterday fielding calls and emails from parents and teachers. She had one teacher resign and another take a leave of absence. She expects more of that and worries if she'll have enough staff to open at all. At present, school is scheduled to start in most counties August 10.

I am all for wearing masks. I have to at work, now. However, we were in lockdown for nearly 2 months and it came right back. Now wearing a mask and following recommended guidelines for 4-6 weeks will give a better result?
