New Coach at Walton-Verona

I gave her total credit. I just didn't put down the other girls to do so. -

There were other seniors that worked during the summer. Don't assume you know everything. Hargett did work hard, but don't think she was the only person on the team that put out any effort. It didn't hurt her to be 6'0" tall -

All of the starters this year except for a Freshman were seniors. No one else saw significant playing time with the exception of 2 8th graders. ( Who deserved playing time) So it's wide open for next year. 7 seniors graduating really opens it up. That leaves the 2 8th graders and one Freshman who if they continue to work should be starters next year. These girls play almost year around and have been pushed hard by their coaches over the summer. They know how to work hard and that's why they got playing time this year. The coach will have the task of teaching the girls that the fun in basketball [is when you have worked hard on your skills and you can blow by the girl guarding you at any time/ you can grab 12 rebounds a game/ you have the advantage on most girls on the court because you have worked to make yourself a impact player. That's when the fun begins. Your team is better, you are confident on the floor, you contribute to your team. -

I don't think that's been a problem with the coaches at Walton over the years. Maybe some of the parents. 2 seniors from this year have played Varsity since the 8th grade. 2 8th graders saw significant time at Varsity this year. One freshman started this year. -

He had a long run at Walton. There had to be some other reasoning besides record in that case. -

It's political everywhere. These coaches know this. Winning cures a lot of things. -

Sounds like some of the parents know basketball, -

Disagree, when the parents have done the work of taking the kids to pratices for years/ (some) working with their kids for years on improving their skills, and enstilling in their kids to play to the best of their potential and give their all. They have every right to WHINE when they are given a coach that has no business being there and is wasting the valuable time that the parents have dedicted to their child. If one of the players made a major mistake (like the administration made bringing this coach in) the administration would be all over them.] -

Agreed, but you have to have a quality coach in place to displace those distractions. If that is not the case you are inviting what you got. -

I agree but I also feel bad for the girls that were sacraficed by this mistake. Coach Rosen was offered help by a lot of people on many occasions and choose to accept none. It's over and tiime to move on, but I do think the administration owes some of these girls a apology. It's not like this was a coach that just didn't work out. This was a coach who had no business being in this position from day 1. -

I do think he is qualified and a great guy, however there are some stronger coaches available that will show interest in the job. -
Wow!!! First year!! I didn't realize that. Great job :thumb::thumb::thumb:

I don't think that choice would be well accepted. And I think most realize that. Great guy though. -

I agree. The only thing that rubs the wrong way a little is that anyone who has a clue about basketball could have told you that in the first week. I wish Coach Rosen the best. -
Allison Long will be able to choose the level she plays at.

She's a great all around player. She does a lot of things well and has a good basketball I.Q. She will be a impact player.IMO

The coach prior to Rosen had been a Walton for quite a while I'm not sure how long exactly but my guess would be 7 or 8 years. -
Congrats to the Lady Cougars!!! Glad to hear Stephanie Hodges is going to NKU. She was by far the best all around player in the 9th this year. Don't be surprised if the Lady Cougars go deep in the tournament.
