  1. Good Core group. Congratulations to DC and Kevin for making Madison Courier All Tourney Team. Kevin pitched 9 innings and played solid defense. DC had 3 Home Runs and double digits in RBI's in the Tourney. The rest of the team stepped up as well during a weekend where CC lost 3 pitchers. Keep it together guys.
  2. Things like this make wins even sweeter. Sometimes the name on the front of a jersey will not intimidate kids when they know they can play. Give the Carroll Co. kids credit they deserve it.
  3. Carroll has alot of young arms coming back. However if I remember correctly only 2 saw significant Varsity action last year in Bickers and Rippey. As with every team, pitching will be the key. Ricketts should add some depth allowing CC to develop some of the younger arms. They really need to utilize the JV this year to develop the younger pitchers as well. If a solid plan is put in place CC could actually be in the hunt for a regional title for the next few years.
  4. Regardless of what county you are from one has to admire what this program is doing. GC has a great following at home and on the road at all age levels. The program is a great example for all to follow . This is one of the best coached programs around from the varsity level on down. My hat is off to you guys and I would not be a bit surprised to see a victory vs Anderson.
  5. It\ Its all in good fun but just to clarify Gallatin has won the eighth grade district the last 2 years. The previous 2 was won by Carroll the current Sophomores and Juniors. Should make for some interesting games the next few years.
  6. I tip my hat to the Coach Jones, he is probably one of the best coaches around I honestly mean that. He has the entire program headed in the right direction at all levels. All of your teams play hard and go out and get the job done by playing the game the right way. I would also say that by even scheduling a Scott. Co. says alot in the fact you want to play the top teams and wont back down from any one. Really I wish we would put such teams on the schedule. Just some of the faithful seemed to be getting a little too prideful at the expense of CC which for the record is a fairly young team. They play 3-4 sophomores significant minutes start 3 juniors and 1 senior who didnt play last year. I will agree the rematch will be just as heated and the game will be good too.
  7. Like I said nothing more nothing less. Remeber the Scott County game. But it was probably the refereing or maybe if was played in Sawville on Hall of fame night or something it would have been a different game.
  8. :irked:WOW . How misinformed. I assume you are talking about our oldest Sophomore who will probably be co valedictorian. I know him personally and he was never held back and if you had a clue you would know enough about him to know better. Thats all I will say about that. As for the rest of the GC faithful you have a good program at Gallatin as well as a fine coach. However come down off the high horse, until anyone has dominated this region like a Oldham, Shelby, or Scott, you are what you are a good small school nothing more nothing less. Obviously the animosity between these two schools have reached the boards, good luck to Carroll and may both teams play hard and injury free.
  9. I know the players read BGP so I would like to make a challenge to them. Guys you see what is being said here so you have a couple of choices to make. You can either get offended by it an make excuses and play selfishly, be negative and continue to lose games that you should win. Your second choice is this. You can say to yourselves maybe some of this stuff they are saying is true. Guys look at teams that are winners you dont see emotional outbursts on the field or the court. It is yes sir or no sir to eveything. You respect your coach and your teammates regardless of whether your winning or losing. They dont yell at their coach or other players nor do they hang their head when they make a mistake. You must turn every negative into a positive. If you make a mistake get focused and leave it behind you and do something to make up for it. Look at championship teams they NEVER worry about individual accomplishments, they always praise their coach and teammates first. I can say this you have a coach that truly loves you and the game, and if they players can share that same love for each other as well as the game you will be successful. Maybe not on the scoreboard early this year but the majority of you are Sophomores and JRS and have 2 whole years together. Think really hard about where you are now. Are you doing the things today that will allow you to ever make the trip to Richmond or Lexington not to watch but to play.
  10. I agree on the offensive output. We forced too many shots last night, didnt do a good job of getting the ball inside. Against Willaimstown ball movement was outstanding creating better shot selection. I have to ask what is the internal conflict.
  11. I am speaking of Carroll. The team has some good athletes working at the guard position but along with comes the responsiblity of being a leader. Someone the team will be able not only trust with the ball but leading the team in a positive way when the games get tough. Not being negative here just answering the thread topic. Development at this position will be imperitive to this teams success this season. Not only at the starter but a consistent back up as well. Good Luck Panthers.
  12. To answer the question. This team needs a true point guard in the worst way.
  13. Not unreasonable at all. What the Yellow Jacket program does is provide another way for the kids to play, especially the sixth graders. Believe me I do understand the importance of building team chemistry at a young age. It just bothers me that a program that has been the only form of a feeder program for years is asked to dissolve their team. Ideally we would have a league of about six to eight teams and those kids would all move on to middle school and then to high school. However as I posted earlier no one with the exception of the yellow jacket program seems to want to address this issue, so the debate will continue until someone does.
  14. Be glad to. The only football feeder program we have prior to Middle School is our Yellow Jacket team which has to travel to Oldham County to play on Saturday, which is fine, it is an outstanding league. We have three teams total a pee wee, a JR. and a SR. team. Not exactly sure how the ages break down but the SR. team consists mainly of sixth and seventh graders with an occasional eighth grader that meets the age deadline. Some are under the opinion that when the kids get of middle school age they should have to play middle school. Some have even asked the coach to do away with the SR. team. I feel that is alot to ask for many reasons especially since the Jackets are the only entity taking an interest in our kids playing football prior to even getting to Middle School. The Yellow Jackets are the only remaining team from our league which has been dissolved for over twenty years I believe.
  15. FNL Some of what you are saying is very true, however it is not the coaching staff that has done the injustice here, it is our community. Without getting political I will just say what you probably already know. We have no pee wee outside of the Yellow Jackets and that has just evolved in the past couple years, prior to that the only youth football we had was the JR. SR. yellow Jackets. Now many want the Yellow Jackets to combine with the Middle School when they get in 7th grade ? Are you kidding me ? Why doesnt our school system or the parks and rec program provide a league in this town where we dont have to drive to Oldham county every Sat. to play. I could go on but again, I will not get politcal we just need more vision in this community.
  16. I say this. Although this is a district game its time to start looking towards next year. I am a big fan of Coach W. These next few games would be a great time to get some key players time at positions they may play next year. Why wait and send them out in a brand new season and risk having a season similar to this one. I would also say this, set the tone for next year by benching ANYONE who gets a personal foul. It all starts with discipline and respect for those you represent when you put on that jersey. As far as the game goes it may be a long night for Carroll if they continue to beat themselves on plays that do not require skill.
  17. This is a very young team. The core of this team are sophomores and juniors. In order to achieve any type of success this year or in the the years to come this core group needs to see the majority of the minutes.
  18. I agree with RiverRat in that I would not give up on Carroll Co. The coaching staff has remained positive and that has carried over into the players. These kids are still excited about this season as well as the years to come. This is a very young team that has sufferred MANY key injuries. With the experience some younger players are getting combined with the Panthers starting to get healthy we still have alot to look forward to.
  19. May not be the biggest game in the state tonight but you can bet these 2 teams will flat get after each other.
