  2. I'm glad to see you lighted up your tune. I think the biggest problem i have with the call is this. It's not that the ref threw the flag, was it an iffy call maybe maybe not. The problem comes that if your going to throw that flag you better know how to apply the penalty the correct way. Not one ref on the field stepped up to make sure tha penalty was applied correctly. That's the thing that's most disappointing. Wrongfully taking that TD off the board had a big impact on the kids minds.
  3. The flag was thrown about the Dixie 40 yard line well before that camera man. I tried watching close but I couldn't even see the ref running down the side line.
  4. Found out why it seams there is more focus on the side lines this year. This is one of the changes that went into effect in 2009. "The committee made a significant change in Rule 9-8-3 in an effort to reduce the risk of injury along the sidelines. A maximum of three coaches may be in the restricted area to communicate with players during dead-ball situations. Before the ball becomes live, however, the coaches must retreat into the team box. Bob Colgate, NFHS assistant director and liaison to the Football Rules Committee, said this rule change results in a 2-yard belt that is clear of team personnel and helps eliminate sideline congestion while helping to minimize the risk for participating players, coaches and officials during live-ball situations. "There no longer will be an allowance for three coaches to remain in an area adjacent to the sideline when the ball is live," Colgate said. "The results of a three-year experiment were favorable, which led to the committee's support for this rule change in 2009." Here is the link http://football.refs.org/rules/NFrules2009pr.html

  7. Yea i think we get it. 6 points were taken off the board by nothing our players did wrong. Big momentum change. It also changes the way they go about their offense. Final score by the way was 39 to 34, add those 6 points back on and wouldn't you know the outcome is just a bit different (yea i know the outcome could of been different even with those 6 points). Bottom line is it did change things. Not taking anything away from Cov Cath's win, they came to play.
  8. The game will be on Insight channel 20 or 22 tuesday night. It will be interesting to see what really happened down the side line on that call. I hope they got a good shot of it.
  9. Fired up giving up almost 500 yards of offense when you own offense can only muster 80.
  10. Dixie's defense has only struggled 4 times this year, Highlands, Ryle, Simon Kenton, and Conner. I believe quite a few teams defenses have stuggled against those team. I hardly put Cov Cath's offense in those teams catagory.
  11. Colonels_Wear_Blue Lets just look at the last common opponent, Highlands. Total yards offense Dixie 394 total yards at Highlands Cov Cath 80 total yards at home If (yea that's a big if) Dixie can avoid shooting it's toes off turning the ball over it's clear they have the much better offense and should have no problem scoring. On the other hand it's quite clear Cov Cath still has some work to do. Dixie coming off the bye week should be very capable of winning by 14+.

  21. I don't know what game you were watching but Wilson's passing wasn't on last night. He held the ball way too long and on many occasions hung his recievers out to dry. There were numerous times he had recievers wide open in the middle of the field and elected to throw into heavy coverage. There were a hand full of passes that weren't anywhere close to being on the money. Wilson did run the ball very well and stood up to some very cheap shots by the birds.
