  1. Flood brings alot to the table for sure. Sweeney stepped up . Solid player . Has played well in last several games. Gives the Colonels depth going into the tourney.
  2. #5 for the Colonels gave some great minutes tonight. Not sure what his name is. Built to play basketball for sure. Could be extremely helpful down the stretch . Key rebounds , good defense shut down Dixie's #24 and wonderful assists particularly the pass from the floor to Flood for the breakout. Colonels have depth for sure.
  3. Kudos to Holy Cross. Ryan Schrand and the boys did a great job!!!!
  4. Coach Ruthsatz was plain and simply out coached tonight. His substitution of his players was abysmal. Dixie's zone had not only the CCH players confused, but Ruthsatz was confused as well. Dixie had some big boys, but Ruthsatz countered with a smaller and weaker lineup. Hopefully everyone will learn from this fiasco before the district and regional games.
  5. The sleeper player this year is the Sweeney kid. Only freshman moved up his freshman year to the JV squad. Rumor is he is playing well in the preseason workouts. Heppler has a ways to go to be an impact player this year. His focus is primarily baseball. Time will tell. Flood could play a role but is much to thin to play with the bigs. Schumate can shoot but needs to step up his defense. I think CCH can make a run but lots of things have to come together much like last year.
  6. This sounds like sour grapes. Nick is a superior player and is hard to defend. If others can't guard him , they simply hold on or grab which is what the Bulldawgs did most of the evening. CCH will do well down state because of Nick Ruthsatz.
  7. I agree, the call was correct. Too many people on here focusing one call. The bottom line Cch outplayed Ncc in every facet of the game. Ncc is a good team and have nothing to be ashamed of. In any event, the best team won. Should be a great game tomorrow night.
  8. Anybody who truly believes or doesn't but has the guts to pick Ryle in the CCH matchup is delusional with all due respect. If your kid goes to Ryle or you dislike CCH for whatever reason, that's one thing, but if you are being as objective as you can be, CCH is the obvious favorite and will win this game by double digits for sure. And while NCC is favored to win the 9th region, keep in mind that the only time CCH and NCC faced one another for one half of basketball , CCH was leading by 5. CCH has the horses to win the 9th region. But it will take a team effort and some solid rebounding throughout the tourney. CCH may have to go deeper into their bench to prevent what occurred with Holmes in the district final. Several of the first 7 players weren't contributing. When that happens, it is time to look elsewhere on the squad. Here's to a great tourney.
  9. Holmes played great. CCH didn't rebound well. As has happened most of this season, CCH relied heavily on Ruthsatz to carry the team. Kudos to Ruthsatz he played as hard as ever. Even played through what appeared to be leg cramps. Schult , Heppler and Wichmann were virtually non factors in this game. Schuh had a good scoring game , but didn't rebound and got some bad fouls. Von handorf gave a good effort, but too many times drove into traffic and didn't dish. Just goes to show that you cannot build a great team around just one player. It takes a team effort. If CCH doesn't learn from this game , get more rebounds and provide more scoring from other players besides Ruthsatz , they will end up out of the regional tourney quickly. They still have the opportunity to be ninth region champions , but only if others besides Ruthsatz come to play.
  10. Big change from the last time these two teams played. Schult and Schuh had the younger Bezold's number and shut him down. The younger Schrand got hot and made 4 3's. Without taking too much away from the player, the shots were mostly uncontested with a little luck thrown in. VonHandorf played well. Ruthsatz didn't have one of his better games, but it wasn't needed as HC was clearly outmatched. Shumate gave CCH some valuable minutes. The sophomore Sweeney looks like a keeper . Very active on the floor. Will add some strength to the team next year when the 5 seniors leave. Vonhandorf has some big shoes to fill next year, but he appears to be up to the challenge. In the meantime, CCH is still rolling. The real test comes next. The final should be fun to watch.
  11. Although Holy Cross has some decent players, the probability is that they don't have a prayer in the game against CCH on Wednesday.
  12. How can CCH not get the number 1 nod here? Have lost only one game all season. In the head to head with NCC which ended at halftime due to condensation on the floor, CCH was leading by 5. Amazing!!!!! NCC is a great time no doubt, but by all objective standards, CCH should be ranked number 1. Just my humble opinion.
  13. I have to go with Nick Ruthsatz. He does have a good supporting cast, but honestly if you take him out of the mix, CCH is as an average team at best. Not sure what CCH has lined up next season , but without Ruthsatz on the court, next year may be a challenge. Ruthsatz has the full game. He can drive , pull up , dish and shoot threes. He even goes amongst the tall ones and grabs key rebounds. He handles the ball better than any guard in the nineth region. He has the ability to take over a game. I haven't seen any of the other players mentioned including Bolden do that. Its a shame he isn't a few inches taller, because if he was he would be playing D1 next year.
  14. The JV Colonels played a great game. Shumate had one of his better games as he looked for open players instead of driving into traffic which he has somewhat of a habit of doing. Heppler and Sweeney played solid games although at times they had some difficulty with put backs. Part of the problem seemed to be the officiating as some apparent fouls were missed. Either way both players needed to go stronger to the basket . Flood hit a key 3 point basket. Beck got in foul trouble early which was ironic considering the number of fouls or calls which were missed during the game. The rest of the team , Massie, Lyons and Young provided good support off the bench. All in all , a great night for the team. Hopefully, the team play will carry through to the final of the tourney.
  15. From what I've seen Ryan Schrand is a good guy. His two sons play on the varsity team. Leighton was the 8th man on the CCH freshman team last year. Unfortunately, I don't believe Holy Cross has a prayer in the JV or Varsity games. I feel certain that both games will be playedi with good sportsmanship.
