2012 Top NKY Freshman Teams and Players to watch?

Featured Replies

OK...this one cost me $20 bucs because I've been on the sidelines reading and had to join and chime in.

I have no problem with middle school players playing HS ball....I actually have an 8th grader playing Varsity for a local HS......

HOWEVER......no students from the current school were cut to make room for him on a roster. If they had, he would not be playing. Students that physically go to the school should come first and then fillers from outside should be considered to add to any needed numbers !

I understand you want to develop the younger players, but it is about the school and not the individual.

This is not a select team you are building, it is a school team you are Coaching !

My two cents......with inflation, means next to nothing.

I agree with not cutting the high schoolers to make room for the younger players who aren't at the school but once they are there I think they should not only keep the better players but play them regardless of their class rank. If you have an underclassmen who's better than the older player(s) then the younger player should play. I don't believe in playing the elder classmen just to keep parents happy. That seems ridiculous to me. It's almost like the parents of the younger player have to apologize because their son is a better ballplayer.

100% in agreement. STUDENTS make the team, but players play.

And I too can agree with your statement above, as long as not one HS kid is cut nor sent backwards because no matter how good the middle school kid is, he/she is not a member of the HS! If you need players to play Freshmen baseball then fine, but only on the freshmen team!

Here Here !!

Completely agree with both of you.

As my screen name states, I am Cameron Edwards dad. A friend of mine called me and told me about Blue Grass Preps and I should check out what is being said. Let me clear some things up.

Racerx my son is a young freshman his is 14. His birthday is in August. He is playing for the 14u Cincinnati Flames. HE IS NOT the only freshman on the 14u Flames there are 3 total. My son is on the Varsity squad at CCHS.

Imhisdad, I don't know who you are or where you get your info. My son has not bounced from team to team. I can't believe I had to join this gossip forum to defend my kid but here is his list of previous teams. Little League until 8 years old. NKY Giants 9u and 10u year old SWOL National League. Midland Warriors 11u National League. Skipped age 12u to play up at 13u. This is where it may get confusing. My son played for Barracks Baseball 13u National League SWOL. The coaches started cheating, bringing in older kids to play so I pulled my son off. A friend of mine had a son on the 12u Diamond Jaxx SWOL NL and heard about Cam leaving and offered him a spot due to an arm injury. Cam also played that year with 13u Midland American gold team and played with that same team again at the 14u level. We left that team after Midland pulled its sponsorship and eliminated all the teams but one at the National League level.

Guys if you have any questions feel free to ask me, but get your facts right. My son is a loyal kid and was put in a bad spot one year by a couple coaches that should be banned from youth baseball, ask Larry Redwine. I don't know how good my kid is it's not for me to decide it's the coaches. He like to play ball and I like to watch him. We had no idea he would make Varsity at CCHS but he set that goal last year worked very hard all off season on his hitting and pitching and did it and I am proud of him for it.

Cameron did a nice job tonight against Villa. It was my first time seeing him. He has good velocity and he has good field presence (meaning that if you look out onto the field, you cannot tell he is a younger player.)
