Could have been a lot of things that don't necessarily incorporate cowardice...psychotic, deranged, angry, abused, delusional, manic.

 

I don't know T.J. Lane from Adam. I don't know who he is, where he comes from, what he's dealt with in life...and I don't know anything about anyone else involved in the situation either. I would bet a lot of money that you don't know any of those details either. You have, however, made your judgment known based on what you've seen on the news in the first 120 minutes following the shooting. I sure hope you never get pulled for jury duty...ever...for any trial in any circumstance.

Nobody is saying he isn't guilty and that he doesn't deserve punishment. Obviously something is off in his head and before I start talking crazy about a kid I want to know more about why he felt he need to act the way he did. I have kids and I would love to know why he had to go into a school and shoot innocent kids. I may be able to keep my kids from bullying kids or help my kids if they are getting bullied before they do something tragic themselves. You never know what is going on in a kid's head these days. I'd like to be as prepared as I possibly can.

Something made him do it, Lord know he probably wouldn't just go do that without good reason. He isn't a coward, he is brave for standing up to a bad life and society by showing the school what bravery is. Our court system should fine him, make him miss prom, graduation, and have his court cost paid for by the school for showing what mis deeds they did him.

If we don't do a better job of getting to the root of why these kids are so troubled and having psychological issues that make them want to run up in schools and shoot innocent kids then these situations will repeat itself. Do you understand that?

 

If the kid was indeed being bullied to the point that he premeditated this situation then I'd like to make sure my own kids aren't bullying any kids so this situation doesn't repeat itself at their school. Do you understand that?

 

To sit back and take in the whole situation and label the kid a coward doesn't answer the questions and concerns I have about the situation. Just because I am not labeling the kid a coward like you are doesn't mean I am not blaming the kid either. The kid definitely deserves whatever punishment is brought to him. I just want to know all the info about the situation so maybe, just maybe I can keep something similar from happening to my own kids. Do you understand that?

My point is, you try to judge and summarize this whole thing with a single word...when you know virtually nothing about the circumstances surrounding the situation. TJ Lane's dad apparently had problems. What if (and I am just throwing out a completely hypothetical "IF", I'm not drawing any conclusions) the kid had some kind of unrecognized mental issue that ran in his genes? What if (again, hypothetical) he was a complete sociopath? Is it then an act of cowardice?
