This is an interesting draw. Boyle is loving their draw while PC and SW not so much.

Boyle is not the only team that got a Great Draw. I'm sure East Jess is excited to draw opposite Southwestern and PC

I'll be giving updates for all of them except for Boyle's games as long as I have battery juice in my phone. Which I should. I'll be at every game. I'll put the final score up for Boyle's games though.

Wednesday February 29th first round games:

The first game of the 12th region tournament pits a much improved Boyle Co. (11-15) against a region surprise in Casey Co. (4-27). Boyle is starting to peak at the right time and has won 7 of there last 9 games. Casey has only won 1 of their last 10 games but it was a big win over Somerset that propelled them into the region. If Boyle Co. has done their homework then they know Casey will have difficulty bringing the ball up the court versus pressure. I say they have studied and Boyle wins this game going away with a 59-41 victory.

The second game of the night has a good East Jessamine (27-4) against a young Wayne Co. (17-15). East won the previous meeting 110-81 in a shootout on their home court. East brings an intense full court man to man pressure and does a good job of trapping the ball. The time I saw them play they rotate 9 players to keep up the intensity the whole game. When they get a comfortable lead they tend to ease up and get lazy which can allow a good team to get back in the game. Wayne is young, starting 2 eighth graders, a sophmore and 2 juniors. They are a very decieving team and if not careful, they will pull off an upset. The players are coached very well and know how to find the weaknesses in a defense. They are good with the backdoor cuts and run the floor well. I still think East Jessamine wins this by a score of 85-76.

I'd like to see us start off pressing Casey immediately but if we do press it will likely come in the 2nd or 3rd quarter. I expect a final score similar to your 59-41 prediction.

Nothing personal but if Boyle Co doesnt press from start to finish I have to wonder about your coach. It is important in these type of games to get off to a good start and if you get the chance to slam a team early you have to do it. I would say if he has watched any film at all he will come out pressing, Casey just does not handle the ball well, but maybe they will surprise.

Don't worry about our coach. He has always done a fine enough of a job for me to never question him. I'm not going to start now. We should be able to defeat Casey County whether we press or not, IMO.
