February 19, 201214 yr And that's why liberals rally around it. It's always the "liberal government" when it's an issue you guys don't agree with, but you're all for the government being heavy-handed on the marriage/civil union issue or blue laws (among others that don't jibe with social conservatives)? I don't even much care about the abortion issue -- it's very low on my priority scale, as I think the world is grossly overpopulated and could do without about a quarter of the people on it -- but it amazes me that social conservatives can cry about government intervention about something like this but are fine with legislating morality (which is a moving target, of course).

If you're including me in your statement, you should check your facts. I firmly believe that it is not the goverment's job to legislate morality, whether it agrees with my personal beliefs or not. The government's job is to uphold the constitution. I want them out of all moral decisions. Do you?

February 19, 201214 yr The Constitution is nothing if it is not a moral document. Really? I find that the founders tried to keep morality out of it. They tried to create a government that was answerable to the people not a government that would tell the people what was right or wrong.
February 19, 201214 yr The Constitution is nothing if it is not a moral document. Perhaps idyllically. In practical practice it falls short of being such, although it has high aspirations.
February 19, 201214 yr God love the Constitution, but it's very hard to read it and take it seriously when you keep reading "chuse" throughout the document.
February 19, 201214 yr I just want to point out, that women's health includes other issues beyond pregnancy. And even if birth control were simply for prevention of pregnancy, pregnancy can actually be a dangerous condition for some women. In addition, repeated pregnancies within a short time can also cause it's own set of risk.
