rockmom
If I were the guy trying to turn in to the fast food place, I would hope that someone would leave me enough space to get through, but I would never expect someone in a car on the road to back up to accommodate me. You didn't do anything wrong. You should never go in reverse while on the road - unless there are some extreme safety reasons to do so. See, I'm like you. I don't expect someone to have to do that either, if I'm in the other situation, which is actually often for me. I technically had a few inches I could have reversed. But the other thing about that area is that people are always darting out between parked/stopped cars, and you never know when someone you can't even see yet is getting ready to take advantage of the stopped traffic. rockmom
What you should do now is pour yourself a glass of wine and forget about it..... I think I'll do that tonight.
rockmom
When someone acts like that, I have often found myself needing to remove something from my eye. Usually with my longest finger. I sooooooooo wanted to do something similar! I did refrain from it, though.
rockmom
To answer your question, yes, you should have been nicer. I get it. I have done it. That doesnt make it right. Why let it raise your stress level? What raised my stress level was him acting like I was an idiot.

rockmom
When he slapped his head like his was saying to you...Think...Think...I would have pulled out a gun a shot him!!!! Not that I have a gun in the car and not that I would have actually shot him........or do I and would I have????? :idunno::lol: Somehown, I think if you'd been in the car with me, the whole situation would have been a bit more amusing...or scary....depends on how you look at it.
formerkywrestler
So, what would you have done if you were me?Pull forward to make sure I COMPLETELY blocked the entrance -- then when I was able to go I would stay a few precious seconds longer than needed. Petty? Yes, but the enjoyment I would have gotten out of it would have made it worth it. Now, if he would have politely gestured or acted like he wanted to get through I would have checked to see if it was safe to reverse then would have done so. I've actually done that a few times on Btown Rd. Full Disclosure: I will often go completely out of my way to avoid driving down Bardstown Rd. Next to Hurstbourne it is my least favorite road to drive on in Louisville. But I was trained on miserable Lexington traffic, so those are actually a walk in the park compared to campus and Nicholasville Rd.

But he just whipped the nose of his car right between me and the truck in front of me, without even so much as actually coming to a full stop before attempting to do so. You'll know this: He came from the drive between Homemade Pie & Ice Cream, across B-Town diagonally, to cut through the KFC lot to get to Baxter. He never even stopped until I wouldn't budge, then he got all nasty and demanding.

There is no greater torture in this world then being stuck behind the northbound car attempting to make a left turn off of Bardstown Rd onto Eastern Parkway. When I first moved here I would make the rookie mistake of trying to jet into the right lane and pass them. But I soon learned that inevitably the car attempting to turn will get the free-turning-window and turn, then I'm stuck behind the 15 cars parked in front of Heine Brothers as I attempt to get back into the left lane as traffic zooms by me. Not saying I condone murder, but if I read "Driver Gets Road Rage and Brutally Murders Person Attempting Left Turn Onto Eastern Parkway", I'll at least say I can understand. B-Town/E-Parkway is tied with B-Town/Grinstead, going toward Eastern. I always get around the turning car, only to be foiled by a bus picking up passengers in front of Wendy's.

Can't believe I forgot about it. Also, that is an awful place for a bus stop. I get stuck behind it too and when running I've almost been plowed by a bus who wasn't observing that I had the crossing sign.

Left turns anywhere in the Bonnycastle neighborhood. It's enough to make me want to hop on the handlebars of Tom Owen's bicycle...
