They should sweep it like a few seasons ago!

CCHS should be improved. The Sophs that started last year will have another year of growth, strength, and experience. Walsh should start the year back Saftey. I look for the Camels to repeat as district champs.

Walton-Verona finished second or third in the state in Class 2A in points allowed last year, and 2 of the 3 games they lost they were shut-out. Losing #2 at Linebacker will be a big void, but I believe most of their starting defense is back, inlcuding the big 6'6" 300 lbs. DT #71, LB #16 who made tons of plays, and DB #8 who lead NKY in interceptions. Coach Shafer and his defensive staff have done great work with the Bearcat defense.

Surprised no one has mentioned Cooper as one of the top defensive teams. Last year gave up 16.9 ppg which was 4th best in 5A for the state as well as allowing 1200 yards rushing for the year which was 4th best in 5A. They lost 3 defensive starters in Blau, Williams, and Branch but return almost everyone else including Centers who was a beast on the d-line last year. I expect another good year for the Cooper defense.

I think some Pioneer humility is in order. Lets let the kids prove it on the field.

 

Offensive line play is more about agility, making reads and understanding your job on a particular play. Just being big does't cut it. I've seen Highlands use very small nose tackles that absolutely dominated larger opposition with agility, quickness and foot speed.
