15th Slammer
Does anyone have any stats on the game?
mach1
Does anyone have any stats on the game?I am not sure if these are the official stats but here's what I have: Mag. Co. traveled down to the Berea Tourn. today and had a HUGE challenge vs. Henry Clay. HC just ran MC down forcing 28 turnovers from the Hornets. The game was close up til the 4th when HC just took over. The scoring went like this. 1st- HC 21 MC 11 2nd- HC 23 MC 18 Halftime- 49-29 3rd- HC 19 MC 16 (the hornets cut the lead to 6 in the Qtr. before HC took over) 4th- HC 19 MC 8 FINAL - 79-53 MC was led in scoring by: Eric Arnett 11, Wes Helton 10, Brandon Shepherd 7, Tyler Hunley 7, Clay Fletcher 7, Devin Rice 5, Nathan Arnett 4, and Dustin Minix 2. FG - (MC) 20/39 = 51% (HC) 29/60 = 48.3% FT - (MC) 11/15 = 73.3% (HC) 16/23 = 69.5%
UnderPar
Seriously... What does Henry Clay have to gain by playing in this tournament?
kyhoops#23
What do they have to lose? I don't think playing any tough of a schedule is needed. Look at who they have already and will play.
57thGal
I agree with UnderPar..Its pointless for them.
napster
If Magoffin was able to cut the lead to 6 points in the 3rd quarter on Hnery Clay (arguably one of the top 4 or 5 teams in the state), there is no team in the 15th Region the Hornets cannot beat. Now, being able to beat any team in the 15th and actually beating them are two entirely different things, I know. But the Hornets HAVE to realize they have a real shot in the 57th District and the 15th Region. They haven't been able to say that for 6 or 7 years! A good sign is that scoring appeared to be fairly well spread out among the Magoffin County players. That's great. Are there any other stats available. I spoke with one of the parents who said that Wes Helton also added 8 rebounds and 7 assists to his efforts. That's pretty close to a triple double against one of the best teams in the state! strongopenyon
I agree with UnderPar..Its pointless for them. Young team (two sophomore, one junior starter) trying to gain some experience and get healthy before the city and district games. The also have played a tough schedule to date and might need a break in tough competition. They are in the LIT in just over a week. Coach Chiles has successfully been at this for a long time and I am sure he knows how to bring a young team along.
