Manual’s girls top Cantrall’s first ratings

Manual(13-0) is the No. 1 girls’ basketball team according to Dave Cantrall’s first power ratings of the season.

 

Marion County (12-2) will get a shot at Manual when it hosts the Crimsons on Jan. 14.

 

No. 8 Lexington Catholic is the highest rated 11th Region team.

Probably not in there because of their strength of schedule. They do have two quality wins (Walton, NCC) but other than that, their schedule has been weak.

I think Clay County seems to be a little high especially after losing to Walton and Boone a little low.

I agree, W-V just beat Clay Cty.

Sacred Heart seems a little high to me having lost to two unranked kentucky teams. Cannot speak for the out of state teams.

I think Monroe County is too high. I saw them last year and thought they would be solid this season but, IMHO, they are not a top ten team as yet.

Probably because of Walton's strength of schedule. They have beaten four of the top 23 teams (Clay County #6, Dunbar #14, South Oldham #15 and Madison Central #23). Notre Dame's schedule is much weaker. Yes, they beat Walton but they have no other marque win (no one in the Top 25).

Conner deserves to be ranked in this group.

Walton has played 7 games against top 25 and Owen Co....That kind of schedule will benefit WV come tournament time.
